A WIN-WIN PROPOSITION?

"What if I was your girlfriend? Would you let me live with you?"

WHAT?

I blankly stare at her without knowing what to say. She looks at me with a serious expression on her face.

"What if I was your girlfriend?" She emphasizes her question

Confused and speechless yet again, I set down my food on the table and look at her.

"W-what are you talking about?" I anxiously ask

SERIOUSLY? HOW CAN THIS DAY GET ANY MORE INTERESTING? TOO MANY DAMN PLOT TWISTS IN ONE DAY

"Well, you said you're not sure about letting me stay in your apartment and live with you. Maybe it's because we aren't close enough? Hm.....?"

"Are you crazy? We literally just met today and you expect me to let you live with me in my apartment?"

"Well, that's why I'm asking... What if I was your girlfriend? That would pretty much solve that problem?"

"You can't just offer some random guy you just met to be their girlfriend out of nowhere. There are certain things and phases people have to go through before being in that kind of relationship. Besides, you're just saying you want to be my girlfriend so you could stay in my apartment!!" I angrily yell

Wait... Maybe I could I ask her to lay rent as well. That way, I could save up some money for something like a vacation or just have extra cash in case I want to buy something.

Suki puts bot her hands on the table in front of her and leans towards me with a sad expression on her face.

"What? No! You've got it all wrong. Well, that last bit was partly true, but I really do like you. I don't really know how to explain this, but if you could just hear me out" she insistingly says

I lean backward to avoid her face hitting mine and make eye contact

"Look. Suki, I'll admit that one of the main reasons why I'm being rather friendly and considerate to you, despite the trouble you've put me through today, is because I find you attractive and cute-"

SHIT. WAS I THINKING OUT LOUD? I WASN'T SAYING THAT IN MY HEAD, WAS I?

Suki looks at me with a surprised expression and sits back down on her seat while being weirdly silent. Then she puts her head down, raises both her hands up to her forehead and starts grabbing strands of her hair laying them forward to cover her face.

What's goin on? I hope it wasn't wrong of me to think that way...

WAIT. HOLY CRAP. SHE LOOKS REALLY KAWAII DOING THAT. GREAT. NOW WHAT DO I DO?

Part of me couldn't tell if this whole dilemma is just my bad luck or if I'm just shying away from what seems to be good luck. Another part of me is telling me to just take her offer. I mean, she is my type. Maybe this is a good thing?

"Do you really mean that?" Suki suddenly asks with a nervous tone of voice

I scratch my cheek and look at her but her face is completely covered by her hair.

*Sigh*

"I can't really say that I don't, but don't take it the wrong way. To be honest, I don't really know what to make of all this but I have reached a decision"

"Most people either freak out and threaten me when I do stuff like this. I don't mean any harm. I really don't. People always get the wrong idea, but you surprised me. You've been rea- Wait? What?" Suki quietly mumbles

She brushes her back and looks at me. I notice her cheeks are slightly red. Almost as if she we're blushing...

"You can stay at my apartment" I firmly say

Suki's face starts glowing and she jolts upward from her seat

"Really? You're not kidding? You won't regret this, I prom-"

"Uh uh... let me finish. You can stay at my apartment, but you're going to have to pay for rent and utilities as well. Let's just work the details out some other time. I'd like to finish my food"

I grab my food and continue to eat. Suki does the same, take another look at me and gives me a gentle smile.

"Oh, right. Anyways, I won't let you down"

After a few minutes, we finish eating. Suki seems rather peaceful at the moment, while I'm really thirsty after eating the nigiri and chicken.

"We should get going, but let me just buy a drink. Do you want one?"

She shakes her head. I guess that means no. I proceed inside the convenience store and buy myself a bottle of water. Then I head out outside where Suki is seated. She looks at me but I look away and start walking.

Are you serious about this, Shoto? We're really going through with this, aren't we?

As I'm about to cross to the other side of the street, I look behind me to check if Suki is following, but she seems to be gone?

Suddenly, something slips in between the fingers of my hand; something warm and soft. I look to my left and see Suki. She locks her hand in mine. Surprised and confused, I look at her and ask-

"What are you doing?"

She looks at me and smiles...

"What do you mean? Isn't this part of being your girlfriend?"

I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THIS PART OF THE DEAL. I WAS SO FOCUSED ON HOW MUCH I COULD SAVE IF I HAD SOMEONE TO SPLIT MY EXPENSES WITH.....

"Is this fine? Or.." She reluctantly asks

SO THIS IS WHAT HOLDING HANDS WITH SOMEONE FEELS LIKE... HER HAND FEELS WARM AND COZY. I THINK I COULD GET USED TO THIS.

"No, it's alright. You just caught me by surprise" I reply

We cross the street and continue walking to my apartment. I smile at her and say...

"Surprisingly, your hand perfectly fits in mine"
