As I lay here, chains uselessly restraining me to this cave and a stomach having not been fed for years, I wish I could leave. 

Everyday is agony as they pull the scales from my flesh. Like pulling a fingernail out, the pain is almost insanity inducing, but I can not rebel. I must stay, for if I leave, if I fight back, if I kill the men doing this to me… then they will kill him. The only human I decided to love.
