The Solution

He was a normal priest; he was not a Saint or a Fanatic. He now knew that there was a limit to justice and sacrifice. The Fanatics forced him to choose: to kill them all, or face retribution from the church. The pope didn’t have the power to help left furious. The priest was forced to choose to kill them all. Tears were running down his face as the horror in his friends’ faces told him all that he knew.

Days have passed since then. He prayed to his goddess for a solution, but all he got were two eyes looking at him. The Goddess wondered what his decision would be. The Inquisition continued as more people were slaughtered in the name of their goddess; a being that was literally the force of light in this world of theirs. A stray thought came across the priest’s mind, “What if the fanatic faction didn’t exist?”.

The two eyes that looked at him disappeared. He felt the weight of the world on him as hundreds of thousands of people died by this Inquisition. He needed power and for that he would give everything he had. The heavens collapsed around him as he gave up his faith. The world spun as he gave up his material possessions. Finally the gods and goddesses of the universe looked surprised at this mortal who had enough of this war.
