Since I need words, I might as well clear some things up; Killerie is ten Earth years old, and they use the Earth calendar because Madeline's parents and grandparents and great grandparents used it. Mentally speaking she's a little closer to twelve.

The Engineer caste of shedlings take 22 Earth years to fully physically mature, although they become mentally mature almost immediately due to their nature of sharing information.
