Part 7 - Founder's day

Part 7 - Founder's day

Dayun's POV

After I explained Insoo of his schedule, out of nowhere he suddenly asked me,

"So... What time is it tomorrow................... The competition?"

When he asked that, my thoughts immediately ran over to everything related to work. I started thinking about every single upcoming company event. And nope, I didn't find any competition tomorrow.

Even the 'Best employee' competition was three months ago.

...

Then, what could it be?

...

"What competition sir? I don't think you have any event to attend tomorrow."

Tomorrow is Sunday after all.

"No not that. The one that Iseul told me about." He said and it took me over ten seconds to actually realize what he was talking about.

What-

Is he actually considering Iseul's words?

Really-l?

"It starts in the afternoon. Around 2... But- Why are you telling me that? Are you planning to come?...." I was startled.

I mean that would be a great help. The greatest help, of course.

But, it's too much to ask.

"Yeah... Iseul asked me to come. Why? Do you not want me to come?" He answered my question with another question.

"No... It's not like that. But you see, there's no need for you to- to stress over something that my daughter asked. I don't want to trouble you again. It's fine really- You don't have to... I can convince Iseul-" I tried to decline his offer.

"Denying a child's wish is cruel. I'm coming for her. It seemed like she really wanted to participate in the competition." He was determined.

"But..." I still tried to convince him.

"I'll come pick you both at 2. Seouler's apartment it is. Be ready..." He told me.

"What? No... That would be unnecessary. You don't have to pick us up at home. We could directly meet at-"

...

And he left.

Coming to think of it, him and Iseul are really similar.

They only hear what they want to hear, nothing more, nothing less.

*Sighs*

I can now understand why she calls him 'dada'.

"Dada? Really?" Jae-mi's laugh echoed through the empty cafeteria.

"Yes... And he also agreed to come to Founder's Day tomorrow."

"Hmm... That's a good thing. Why do you sound sad?"

"Good thing? It's weird... I mean, he's my boss... It's hard to accept his help. And I'm his secretary. Not the other way around. How can I ask him to come." I told her my concern.

"What? Are you dumb? He was the one who offered to come. You didn't ask him." She face-palmed and continued, "C'mon Dayun. Loosen up a bit and learn to live. Just go with him without thinking much, will you?"

"Yes, you're right." I had to agree

"I'm always right." She winked. "Aaaand you know what? I think I found the right man!" Topics changed in a blink.

"You say that every month, who is it now?" I asked her casually sipping my drink.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

"No... I think it's real this time. You know that guy who came that day to meet our boss. He said that they were childhood friends or something?"

"Him?!" I didn't expect that guy she liked to be that guy.

"What? What is with him?" She asked startled.

"No, it's nothing. He just seemed like the flirty type. But coming to think of it, you're no better either. So... Fine..."

"Oww... C'mon being flirty is his charms.", she said.

Well-

Birds of a feature flock together, after all.

The rest of the day moved smoothly and I went home after informing Insoo. He asked me to be ready and told me that he'd pick us up at 2, once again.

I reached home and told Iseul the news. And she was super-excited. She was so excited to the point that she chose the dress that she was going to wear tomorrow. She also packed her bag with the snacks that she'd take to the event.

She was so quick. She planned and packed everything. She had never once packed her school bag properly without my help. But she prepared everything for tomorrow. Even when offered to help, she refused saying that I'd forget to pack the necessaries. So, as always, I went to watch the same program that I always watch on TV.

And the next morning was unusually magical because Iseul woke me up.

But she woke me up at 5!

Saying that we had to get ready and that she didn't want to be late.

The event begins in the afternoon for god's sake!

"Iseul please! There are 9 more hours to get ready!" I whined.

...

...

...

"Okay... Stop staring, I'd get ready..."

Due to her nagging, I got ready three hours earlier.

She got ready too.

And we both had nothing to do but to wait.

Wait for him to come.

Iseul was so excited and happy. Contradictorily, I grew bored and started to sleep on the sofa.

But I was happy for her though.

At 2 PM sharp, my phone rang. It woke me up. CEO Moon Insoo. The caller ID said.

I trust this man more than I trust the clock. He's never late, not even a second late.

Iseul picked up the call. And he told her that he was waiting down.

...

I locked our room, put the key safely inside my purse. And proceeded to follow Iseul down, after checking everything carefully.

After coming down I could spot his car on the other side of the street. He was standing beside it.

And I must say, the sight left me breathless for a moment.

...

I've never seen him without his office suit. I was even convinced that he sleeps in his suit. But now he was wearing a red checked flannel shirt that amazingly complemented his beige skin tone. He left it open and the white T he wore inside perfectly highlighted his god blessed body.

For a moment, I forgot that he was the CEO of the Moontalks. He just looked like a normal guy but with extraordinary looks.

Even his hair... He'd always comb his hair up but now he had left them as bangs.

With this outfit and hair, he could be the finest guy on the planet right now.

When Iseul spotted him, she ran to him, calling him, "Dada..."

He lifted her in the air, "Wah... How's my little one doing?" He asked her.

...

A what-

...

My little one?

Didn't they meet like once....? and that too 5 days ago. How did they grow this close?

...

But seeing them, I knew the reason.

He really does love kids a lot. And kids love him too.

...

He had also bought Iseul a gift, it seems. He had bought her a Teddy bear.

"Look what I've got you? Isn't this little guy adorable?" He asked her showing her the teddy, hiding his face behind it, slightly leaning to match her height.

Iseul absolutely was so happy to see it.

She took it into her arms as she said, "I love it dada... Thank you."

"That won't be necessary, sir. I cannot accept it", I told him. Coming with us was already a very big help he was doing me. I cannot accept these gifts.

But he simply said, "I didn't buy it for you. It's for Iseul." Of course, he'd do what he wants. Fine.

"Let's go..." He told me and we got inside his car.

I told him that I'd drive but he insisted that he'd drive. I mean, I'm his secretary, I used to drive him always or the driver. It's very strange to sit while he drives.

This is hard to adapt. Hardest.

He drove the car while I sat at the passenger's seat showing him directions to reach her school. Iseul sat behind.

The car ride was full of Iseul asking random things to him and him patiently and enthusiastically answering. She always does that with me. But it's the first time she's doing it with another person.

I didn't talk much during the ride........... or the right way to say it would be, they didn't let me talk much during the ride.

They were talking among themselves.

How did he manage to get this close with Iseul? Iseul doesn't get along with someone so soon. I wondered.

We reached her school. He parked the car on his parking lot and we got out. Iseul saw her friends and went to greet them. We were about to follow her too but I stopped him.

"Mr.Moon..." I called him. He turned towards me.

"I-I don't know how to put it. But since you are here as Iseul's father, can I ask you a favour?" I asked him.

"Hmm... As long as it isn't something funny, I'm fine with that. What is it?" He asked me casually.

"Hm... Actually... Since People here, including Iseul's teachers and other parents have never seen Iseul's father and since I am a little too young to be a mother, they have... assumed things..."

"Things like?" He raised an eyebrow.

"There are a lot of rumours... Mostly they aren't good. People think me to be some sort of seductress, who seduced a lot of rich men for money... Some think I'm a north Korean spy. Some even think that I'm a Femme Fatale." I said rather quickly as I was a little embarrassed.

"What? North Korean spy? Femme Fatale?" He laughed hard. "Nice roles you got there, Ms. Ro..." He said in between his laughs.

"Well... I don't think that way. I mean, I usually don't care about what others think of me. But since you're here, could you- I mean, it's for Iseul too... So... could you-" I didn't know how to put them words.

"So... I should clear your name by being a good father and........... a husband...?" He carefully completed the sentence.

"Ugh... Kind of but not really." I was careful with my words too. "I just wanted to say, please don't let them find you're my boss. If they did, I'd have a new set of rumours to deal with.

"Uhm... Fine. Don't worry. I'll cover it.", he said casually. I expected something big, something mocking, but his reply was as simple as that.

And with that he went with Iseul.

Sometimes, I can clearly tell what is on his mind. I can read him like an open book. But some other times he's just unpredictable.

Whatever... Let's just hope everything goes well.

My main concern at that time was...

What if someone recognises him?

I mean... He's the CEO of Moontalks, after all. Our company is one of the biggest in the country. He's been on TV and newspapers a few times too...

*Sighs*

I'm hoping no one would...

...

...

...

The event had not started yet and all the parents were just arriving with their kids. The event would take place in the school's stadium so, we went there. Parents of the kids from Iseul's class were there too.

The kids started to play together while we just stood there waiting for the event to begin.

"Ro Dayun sshi..." Someone approached me.

It was Kim Min-seo, Ryu's mother. Ryu is one of Iseul's friends. She had come with her husband. Another one of Iseul's friend's parents were there too.

"Woah... You've come, I thought you wouldn't come." She told me but that question was indirectly directed to Insoo.

"Yeah... Well, plans changed. Ha ha." I told her.

"I've told them that Iseul's father is busy most of the time and that's why they could never see him. They don't believe it, though..." I whispered to Insoo without anyone knowing.

"They'd believe today..." He whispered back.

"So... This is Iseul's father?" Their complete attention turned towards him.

He just nodded and smiled.

...

...

The rest of the conversation went smooth and no one doubted a thing.

Our conversation was cut short by an announcement which said that the event was about to begin.

So, we went to have our seats in the stadium...

Insoo sat between Iseul and I. We made ourselves

comfortable.

The Founder gave his speech first. His speech mostly included how he was heart broken over his father's death and how his father had helped him to establish this school. Next came the principal, his speech was full of condolences to the founder for the loss of his father. And he started to talk about his father too. And everyone who came after him did talks on their fathers.

...

I was sleepy. I don't know why but I was hella sleepy today. Maybe because, I woke up soon?

Their speeches are not helping it either.

...

Bored and sleepy, I leaned back on my seat and placed my hand on the arm rest.

But at the same

moment, Insoo placed his hand there too which made our hands accidentally touch.

And shoot.

I got goosebumps from head to toe.

It was not more than a moment, but it was enough to make all of

my drowsiness go away.

His little touch completely electrified me as it rendered me gasping.

Out of impulse, I turned my head to look at him..................... But he was already looking at me.

And the next thing I know,

Time froze

To be continued...
