BANG!
Aaron burst through the door, racing up to the roof of the educational building, urgency in his every step.
The relentless rain was a consequence of the Leviathan's descent.
"What is that creature!?" Kenneth gaped at the dragon, poised to unleash a deluge upon the earth.
"Leviathan, one of the strongest monsters. It's not something we can defeat."
"So, what do we do?"
"There's no escape."
Water had already engulfed the second floor, and the building's stability was compromised by the immense pressure.
THUD, THUD, THUD
Footsteps approached from behind. Kenneth's three surviving friends appeared.
"Robert, Tania, Margareth?"
"Hey, it's too dangerous below. The third floor is starting to flood!" Robert yelled.
"Wh.. What is that thing?"
"I don't know, Margareth, but it doesn't seem like something we can fight..."
"!!!"
The Leviathan sensed a familiar power. The power of the gods! I must destroy it! The creature thought. With a ferocious roar, it quickly advanced towards the school.
"Darn it! It's coming this way! Everyone, run downstairs!"
"But the third floor is about to be submerged!"
"Don't argue! The fourth floor might still be safe!"
Kenneth realized the building would split in two if hit by the monster of that size. But he trusted Aaron's judgment – what other choice did they have?
They sprinted to the fourth-floor corridor. Through the windows, they saw the furious face of the monster, ready to strike.
"Dodge!!"
BOOM! A massive explosion rocked the building, nearly half of it vanishing in the collision. Yet, they were still safe.
"No more places to hide. We need to get out!"
Aaron leaped out of the shattered window. Kenneth followed. Robert and Tania were about to jump, but hesitated seeing Margareth's fear.
"Hey, what are you doing? Let's go!" Kenneth shouted, walking on debris floating on the water. The land was submerged, appearing like an ocean.
"Aa.. I can't do it.. Go without me!"
"I won't leave you! Tania, go ahead, I'll carry Margareth!" Robert said.
Tania nodded in understanding and jumped. Suddenly, another thunderous explosion. The Leviathan surged from below. The entire building shattered, and no sign of Robert and Margareth remained.
"ROBERT! MARGARETH!"
Tania screamed hysterically as the building disintegrated. Shocked and silent, she sat motionless on the floating debris.
Meanwhile, Kenneth and Aaron had moved far ahead, searching for a taller building to temporarily shelter.
Stolen story; please report.
"What's your plan?"
"I think we need help right now."
"Who?"
"Hopefully, we have enough time to find them."
"Eh?"
On a building not too far away, someone stood. Someone Kenneth had been desperately searching for hours.
"STEVEN!"
"!!!"
Surprised by Kenneth's arrival, Steven's expression was less than welcoming. However, Kenneth didn't let that deter him and hurried over.
"This doesn't look good, but we have no other choice."
Upon reaching the rooftop, they found two figures gazing at the Leviathan, still ravaging the educational building.
"!!! Steven!!"
"Hey Kenneth, long time no see."
"!!! Steven! Be careful, the person next to you is dangerous!"
"I know what you're thinking, but my perspective is different."
Beside him stood Zhang, a skilled swordsman specializing in the katana, his smile unnerving and his cheek scar giving him a menacing look.
"Finally, Aaron, you made it here."
"HAHAHA! The very person I need right now still has time for insults!"
"I figured you'd need our help. For everyone's safety, shall we call a temporary truce?"
"Not a bad idea. Now's not the time to face such a creature alone."
The Leviathan, sensing the shift in energy, realized that the power it had felt earlier was now elsewhere. Redirecting its attention, it swiftly moved towards them.
"I'll go first, I want to test something."
Black flames ignited on Steven's hand, thick and suffocating. The symbol on his hand changed color, turning a deep black that covered his pale skin.
In an instant, Steven was in front of the Leviathan, launching a left-handed strike at its snout.
BLAST!
The black energy made contact, burning a hole through the monster's skin and surrounding it with black flames.
What kind of power is that? Kenneth thought. But this wasn't the time for such questions. They had to defeat the Leviathan!
Zhang leaped forward, aiming a swift and precise strike at the Leviathan's neck, but the attack dulled his sword instantly.
"What is this?" Immediately after attacking, Zhang bounced back to the building, using the Leviathan's body as a stepping stone.
The Leviathan roared in pain from Steven's hit, but it didn't stop there. It recoiled, gathering a massive amount of energy, and fired a powerful water blast from its mouth.
BOOM!!
The blast hit the base of the building, causing the ground beneath Kenneth and Aaron to shift.
"I'll help them! Kenneth, find cover!"
"Can't I help too? I want to try!"
Kenneth ran and leaped into the air, but his jump fell short, and he plunged into the water. Meanwhile, Aaron zoomed towards the Leviathan, targeting its eyes.
"HYAAA!!"
CLASH! CRACK!
Aaron's sword shattered, repelled by an energy protecting the Leviathan's eyes.
"AAHH!! I'm falling!"
Amidst the chaos, Steven narrowly avoided the Leviathan's powerful blast, but his leg was grazed by its aura.
"ARRGGHH!" He was hurled toward the crumbling building, plunging into the water.
This was bad. Only Steven's attacks had been effective against the Leviathan, and now he was injured.
Zhang rushed to Steven's aid, supporting him.
"Kid, looks like you're our only hope against it."
"Take me to its eyes; I can at least damage its senses."
"Okay, let's try that."
Zhang carried Steven back towards the Leviathan's face. But the monster was prepared. Behind it, five water portals appeared, ready to unleash jets at them.
BAAAAMMMM!!!
The jets struck Zhang, leaving Steven alone in mid-air.
"HHHYAAAATTT!!"
A tornado-like force swirled in his left hand, ready to be unleashed.
CRRASSSHHH!
The clash of energies – the Leviathan's protective aura versus Steven's demonic hand – was deafening. The Leviathan's energy was no match for the destroyer's force.
GRAAAA!!
The Leviathan roared in agony, losing its right eye and appearing weakened.
"You're finished, you damned beast!"
Steven's relentless strikes pierced the Leviathan's face in several places. Kenneth, Zhang, and Aaron could only watch the spectacle.
"He's incredibly powerful. I never imagined a beast like the Leviathan could be so strong, nor did I anticipate such ferocity from demonic power!"
"This isn't over yet, Aaron. We can't help without weapons and are injured. Can your son do anything?"
"Kenneth, what can you do?"
Kenneth, who had yet to act, was jolted from his stupor by Aaron's question. He nodded, indicating his readiness to help with his divine power.
As he leaped again towards the Leviathan, Kenneth realized something was amiss.
"Eh?"
Beneath the Leviathan, a massive whirlpool swirled, encircling its body.
"Wha-"
BOOM!!
The explosion was enormous, sending Steven, Kenneth, and Aaron flying and plunging into the water, seemingly poised to annihilate the remaining survivors.
From beneath, a colossal tsunami surged forth.
GGRAAAA!!!
Lightning streaked across the sky, and the rain intensified, as if fueling the natural disaster being unleashed.
"This is it... we're going to die here..."
Steven, who had just taken a direct hit from the Leviathan, fell from the sky into the water.
Zhang, severely injured,
Aaron, weaponless,
and Kenneth, gravely wounded from the Leviathan's previous assault,
It seemed the Leviathan harbored a deep-seated vendetta against their powers.
The unleashed tsunami swept over them, submerging the entire land, leaving nothing but water, lightning from the skies, and the Leviathan's triumphant roars, signaling its victory.
