1. The Nexus

1. The Nexus

2 hours before landing

“Ms. Tesse, we are now entering the Nexus Galaxy, scans indicate an… interesting level of energy, not one we can pinpoint either, should we make a landing?” Bron asked. Ms. Tesse whirled around in her levitating chair to face the muscled man armed to the teeth in black obsidian armour, refined to paper thickness, but able to withstand plasma bullets. “What do the researchers think?”

“Finch and his team… they think there might be life, and –” Ms. Tesse quirked a brow at that and nodded in satisfaction. “Maybe we have finally discovered a new source of energy.” Talking more to herself than to Bron.

“Should I ready my agents, Mam?”

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

“Ready your men, we make landing ASAP.”

“Yes Mam.”

Bron left without another word. Word of the landing must have gotten around, because within minutes, an automated voice announced:

“Invisibility shield ready.”

“Engines ready.”

“Final preparations complete, passage is clear. Proceed with pulsing.”

Only now did a human voice, the captain's, come in through the intercom, “Crew, pulsing in T-minus 10… 9… 8… 7… 6…”

Ms. Tesse sank back in her cushioned chair, taking a sip of coffee from her mug.

“3… 2… 1…”
