Chapter 3: Memories 3

Waking from her nap, Amalia saw a bunch of children. All of them covered in dirty rags and most were all scrawny.

"Welcome to the cage, this will be your new home until we have sell you off. So enjoy what little time you have left."

A bandit gave a smile and walked away. Looking around, Amalia noticed that there were three cages in total splitting the young from the adults which the adults were separated by sex. Male adults appears to be covered in bruises. As for the females, same situation for them too. Looking over at the male adult cage, a familiar figure stood out from the rest. A 12 year old boy with dark color hair leaning against the bars.

"Youngmin!"

Youngmin look at the direction where he heard his name and saw a little girl waving her hand as if she is saying hi. Youngmin give out a disappointed sigh, shook his head, and went back to doing what he was doing which was nothing.

Across the room for the women cage, screaming could be heard and along with a bunch of voice. As the noises slowly come closer to Amalia, she saw her mother still in good health being dragged by four dudes. One sound particularly familiar but since he's being covered by shadows Amalia couldn't identify who. Coming close to a door they stopped moving.

"Let me go, you scumbag. Let me go see my kid and Youngmin."

The mother cursing the bandits and hoping that nothing happen to the two kids. The person in the shadow spoke up in a chilling voice.

"Didn't I say something about not letting it slide

Her mother look at the eyes of the figure and reply in a hoarse voice.

"Do what you want but you better keep your words."

Fire could be seen in the eyes of the mother, she then proceed to walk to a door and enter the room.

Two month had passed since then, Amalia and along with Youngmin had been dragged out of their cage and put into a wagon. They been traveling on the road, chained and heading straight toward child labor. As young as Amalia is, she knew what was about to come. Knowing that, she's been feeling down for the past few days. Youngmin was on a different wagon so they never got to chat with one another.

"Your name was Amalia right?"

A tall, blond scrawny girl sitting across her questioned Amalia. The girl sitting across her had been quiet ever since she been thrown in the cage. Yet she's questioning her. Amaila had a slight feeling of happiness.

"Yeah. What's yours?"

"I don't have a name."

She replied while looking at her feet. Not even a minute passed until she lifted her head and said.

"They called me R-45."

"Then nice to meet you R-45. I hope we can become great friends."

"Likewise."

R-45 smiled at Amalia and for the rest of the afternoon, they talk and talk and talk with no end.

As the moon reached it's highest point in the sky, everyone was fast alseep. Everyone except the lookouts and guards. But someone was also lurking in the darkness. Using the skills, he learned from his old homeland, the shadow slowly took down the guards and lookouts one by one. Once he finished, he leaped back into the forest. It wasn't that long until a cry was heard, coming from the same direction they shadow went. It wasn't just any cry. It was a battle cry.

"Charge!"
