Affinity Test.

Looking at the shadows flicking on the wall, as the place he called home for the last 10 years burn. "Are you ready Juskar?" Asked the man beside him. Juskar turned around and wiped the tears from his eyes, this will be the last time that he will be here.

The people he knew and the friends he had were all gone. The only thing left here for him is sadness and powerlessness. He swear to himself that one day he will avenge this debt. He, Juskar Kain, will pay back ten times the pain to the Blood Legion.

Looking at the man beside him Juskar nodded his head. The man chanted as he waves his hands. Suddenly an orb of light appears between the man and Juskar. It starts off dim, and turns brighter almost instantly. Juskar closed his eyes because of the bright light.

He slowly opened his eyes and he sees a grey wall. Looking around, he realized he was standing in a stone chamber. "Worry not Juskar, this is the teleport anchor for the Academy. Follow me." The man walked towards the wall.

Juskar paused with a moment of confusion before shouting out, "The wa.." before he could finish what he was saying, the wall splits apart and forms a door. A little surprised, he quickly followed the man.

"I will bring you to your room." The man continue to walk. As Juskar looks around he notice that there was a lot of people talking to each other, and doing all sorts of activities.

After about 15 minutes they reached a tall building. This building is light blue on the outside, and seems to be about four story high. "You are assigned room 9527." The man pointed at the building as he turned around to face Juskar. The then man toss a little token towards Juskar. "This is your student token, put a drop of your blood on it. Then try to feel the stone with your perception, the rules and a set of maps for the Silver Hope Academy are in there."

Juskar nodded his head as he said "Thank you, Koriy."

"Its nothing. Tomorrow go to the Registration building to take your affinity test." Koriy said as he turned around and dissapeared.

Without a chance to ask anymore question or to say anything Juskar turned back towards the dormatory and walked up to his room. His room is on the fourth floor, and is a corner room. Walking into the room, Juskar notice that the room was reservedly decorated. There was a desk, a chair, a dining table, a closet, and a bed.

Bored and with nothing to do, Juskar took out the student token, then bit his index finger and drip a drop of blood on the student token. When his blood touched the token, it was absorbed by the token. After the absorbtion of the blood, Juskar could feel a sort of connection between him and the token in his hand.

He can feel that within the Token are a set of information. Not having anything better to do he started to read the information in the token.

It took him a couple of minutes to finish reading the rule book. The rule book basically forbids fighting on academy grounds except for certain special areas. It also list all the resources availible to the students. Since he was considered a Freshman, he could only see the resources availible to freshmans.

Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.

As a freshman of Silver Hope, he can access all information on the first floor of the library, he has a monthly allowance of two hours in the level one training room. Also as a freshman, he is required to complete a Class F or higher duty every three months.

Atleast one duty every three months is required for all students, this is to promote competition between the student and also to provide the students with experience. These duties can be anything from gathering some material from the near by Magical Forest to slaying certain Magical Beast.

Duties are ranked from easiest to hardest Class F to SSS. At the end of each month, based on the performance and number of duties each student completed, a student ranking will be published. The rankings will list out all the students in each class and how well they performed for that quarter of the year. The higher the rank, the more resources and rewards will be availible to the students.

Remembering that he was suppose to go to the Registration Hall to take an affinity test, Juskar scanned the map on the token. He quickly discovered that the registration building is not so far away from his dormatory hall.

Thinking about the affinity test, he recalled what he just read from the information that was on the token. Basically the world is made up of different sources, and in order to cast spells or use magical powers, one must be able to connect with the sources and manipulated it in such a way that they get the effect they want. For example for the basic fireball spell, one would have to gather the fire energy from the fire sources in their vacinity and then compressed this energy into a ball and finally direct it at a target.

Based on the affinity test one's path of study can be better defined. Someone with a high affinity to Fire would take classes that focus on fire related sources, and on topics that could utilize the fire source.

There are three tiers of sources, the Four Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind; The Four Dualities: Light and Dark, Time and Space, Chaos and Order, Death and Life; and finally the Singular Source: Void.

"I wonder what my affinity will be" Juskar thought to himself. "What ever it doesn't matter what I think, I better rest."

..

The next morning, Juskar woke up to the sound of someone knocking on his door. "Argg" Juskar mumled unhappily, as he opened the door. "Why have you not gone to the registration hall yet? Don't you know that it is late already? "

"Ahh" Juskar yelled as he recalled that he was suppose to be at the registration. Thanking the student who came to wake him up Juskar ran towards the Registration Hall.
