Oliver slept like a baby, mostly because he hadn’t had proper sleep in weeks. Combine this with the cured infection, it made for a much more pleasant time on the soft bed beneath him. As he opened his left eye, he noticed Jake standing over him still trying to heal the boy’s broken femur.
“ugh” He said as he rubbed his head, looking around. “Where am I?”
“Oh! You’re awake.” Jake replied as he continued to heal the boy’s leg. “Howdy.” A bright smile plastered on his face.
“Oh uh h-hello...” Oliver said as he sat up, he looked at what the man was doing. “Is that Aethromansai too?”
“A wha?” He looked at the boy, then looked at his hands releasing light “Oh Hahahaha No... uhm it’s called spirit weaving...” Jake said as he removed his hands from the leg. “I’m an Ecclesial.”
“Whats that?” Oliver asked, his eye filled with curiosity.
“You don’t know?”
“N-no...” the boy dropped his head a bit ashamed “I’m sorry...”
“Woah hey, hey its alright kiddo, I’m just surprised is all. Usually, this kinda thing’s taught by your pare-” he paused for a bit before clearing his throat “Uhm, What’s your name?”
“Oliver... Reddington.” the boy replied with a timid voice.
“Oliver,” Jake smiled. “Well... Oliver, do you want a short or long answer?”
“Long...? if that’s okay?”
“Course” Jake pulled a seat. “See, there are multiple types of magic a person can use, each one linked to one of the 16 gods. When you’re born, you release a specific type of aura from your gate. The aura you possess has a signature or affinity connected to one of the gods, and as a result, allows us to use abilities connected to them.” Jake pauses for a moment to see if Oliver understands.
“Oh so, you’re an ecclesial because one of the gods is one?” Oliver asked.
“Uh wow yeah... you got that pretty quickly.” The young man praised Oliver before he continued his explanation. “But the aura is just that, aura. It may posses the magical properties of the god, but it’s use is quite limited. To use the full power of your magic class, you need a conductor.”
“Whats that?”
“My gloves!” Jake says as he moved his gloves to his head, making it seem like he was a rabbit.
“Hahaha!” Oliver laughed at the display.
Jake seeing the boy had become more comfortable couldn’t control his soft smile.“These little gadgets are made of a special dust called Enchantium. They basically turn that crude aura into refined magical spells.”
“Oooh Soo cool!!” Oliver exclaimed with excitement in his voice.
“Haha I know right.”
“Can I ask a question?”
“Fire away Ollie.”

“You said there where 16 types of magic classes?” Oliver asked as he stared at Jake’s gloves.
“You want me to tell you?” The boy nodded eagerly. “Alright let’s see.” Jake looked up trying to remember them. “There’s Pyromancers, Hydromancers, Terramancers, Atmosmancers, Ecclesiasts, Photomancers, Tenebramancers, Fulgomancers, Metalmancers, Botanomancers, Glaciomancers, Harmonomancers, Temporomancers, Aethromancers, Gravitomancers, and Celestiomancers.” He looked back at Oliver to see his eyes staring in confusion.
“Heheheh! We’ll get to the more detailed things later.” Jake giggled as he stood from his seat. “Right now, you need to rest that leg of yours.”
“Where are you going?” Oliver asked.
“Well we need you to move around, so I’m gonna get you a wheel chair.” I would’ve asked Freya to conjure one but-”
“The ice lady?” Oliver asked remembering the woman.
“Haha.” Jake giggled “Yeah, the ice lady... she left a while ago to deal with something up north. She should be back in a couple of hours.”
“....”
“While we wait, I’ll get you some grub and we can take a walk around town?” Jake said as he walked to the door of his room “What do you think?”
“Yes, that sounds good...” Oliver replied with a faint but sincere smile. “T-Thank you sir.”
“Don’t mention it.” The young Ecclesial replied opening the door leading out the room. “And call me Jake.” He says as he closes it behind him.
Some time passed as Oliver sat by himself in the room waiting for the wheelchair to arrive. Once it finally did, The young Aurili named Jake, and the young Oliver had a little tour of the premises while continuing their discussion on the magic classes.
Their laughes echoed through the hall of the large building as they made their way to the cafeteria. Suprisingly, there was no long line of people they had to go through which was something that didn’t happen often in the embassy. The cafe itself wasn’t empty, but the number of Aurilis in the room was staggeringly low.
The smell of fresh food that wasn’t moldy bread or mushrooms was something that Oliver hadn’t experienced since that night. All he could do from his position was drool while his stomach growled aggressively.
“Hahaha... well, looks like you’re all set.” Jake grinned as he pushed the child’s wheelchair to the food bar... “So pick whatever you want. My treat.”
“But-” Oliver looked at the man “I-I’m not hungry” He was also a bad liar.
“Really?” Jake mused “Not even this?” He brought out a large turkey leg.
The boy’s stomach growled again. “....”
Jake knelt down to the boy. Rubbing his head softly. Holding up the leg for Oliver to have a bite. “You don’t have to worry, i can pay for it alright?”
But all of a sudden, Oliver broke into tears as he wailed “I-I-I’m sorry It.” He said as he tried to rub his eye to stop the tears from flowing....
“Hey kiddo.” Jake said as he put his hands on Oliver’s shoulders before pulling him into a hug.“It’s gonna be okay...” Jake was of course taken aback by this, but he needed to stop the tears.
Jake finally got the boy to calm down taking him to a park to eat his massive turkey leg. “You okay now?” He said as he sat next to the boy.
“I’m sorry...”
“For what?” Jake asked puzzled by the reply. “You’ve clearly been through a lot. Don’t apologize....”
“Th... thank you...”
“And you don’t have to thank me, Its what I do...” Jake points to the turkey. “Now eat your leg, And if you’re still hungry, we buy another one. Yeah?”
With a faint smile, Oliver nods “Yeah...”
