Chapter 9: The Reactor
The team raced toward the facility’s reactor core, dodging security forces and navigating through the crumbling structure. The water levels were rising, and the pressure was mounting as the facility creaked and groaned under the strain.
When they reached the reactor, they were met with an imposing sight. The massive machine hummed with energy, its core glowing with an ominous red light.
“We need to overload it,” Lila said, rushing to the control panel. “But once I start the process, we’ll have only a few minutes to escape.”
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Mira nodded. “Do it.”
Lila’s hands flew across the console as she initiated the reactor’s overload sequence. The reactor’s hum grew louder, and the ground beneath their feet began to shake violently.
“We’ve got five minutes!” Lila shouted.
The team turned to run, but as they did, a group of heavily armed guards blocked their path. At the center of the group was Elias Kintz, alive and well, his eyes filled with cold fury.
“You really thought you could stop me?” Kintz sneered. “You’ve only delayed the inevitable.”
Mira stepped forward, her fists clenched. “We’re not going to let you destroy the world, Elias.”
Kintz smiled darkly. “It’s already too late.”
