Prologue

CHOSEN DESTINIES

Long ago, after the fell of the last Goddess, Tiiem, the world of Elioth fell into ruin. A world that knew peace quickly descended into chaos, and soon, all was lost. Countries warred against one another, forcing the populace to live in fear beneath changing leaders until one country rose above all.

The Undulan Age came forth. Undula, a small continent off the Northeastern Coast of Riasec, was home to a boiling volcano and a weak economy that transformed into a powerful military nation during this warring period. The country of Undula founded its empire in 3872 A.D. and would go on to be the governing force for a thousand years. The empire created a new peace for those powerful Druids. The Druids of the empire enslaved their brethren, the Voidlings, who lacked mystical power while attempting to wipe out the humanoid creatures of the Great Clans.

It was in 4512 A.D. when a lone Wanderer rose from the dirt and began an uprising against the empire with their devils and monsters. A revolution made up of all kinds of people in the name of peace drove back their oppressors. In five years' time, the world-dominating empire once again became the small island country home to a boiling volcano.

The hero Xander the Wanderer founded the free country of Ferrisia and its Clergy on the forgotten continent with the mountainous divide. He then trekked across the world, rebuilding the Goddess Altars so the people could communicate with the heavens and their Goddesses once more, and the world entered a new era of peace in 4517 A.D... A few years later, Xander the Wanderer would disappear entirely, leaving no trace of his whereabouts.

From then on, the world lived in peace. Countries quarreled with one another, and there was the occasional skirmish; otherwise, it was peaceful. Those of the Great Clans returned to their homes and prospered after separating themselves from human affairs. Voidlings endured hate from their brethren, but eventually, relations improved, and the world began to know a semblance of peace once more.

A new threat appeared in 4878 A.D. when the three Ancient Goliaths of Destruction were suddenly awakened from their sealed slumber on the ocean floor of the Eastern Seas. They broke through the ocean's surface between Ferrisia and the new Ferrisian-acquired island territory of Niril. The Goliaths of Destruction, the Titan, the Behemoth, and the Leviathan all descended upon Niril and could have wiped the islands from existence.

In the madness of this attack, two mysterious warriors appeared from nowhere, similar to Xander the Wanderer. One warrior was Chosen by the Goddesses, and the other was a battle-tested Wanderer. Together, the two battled the three monsters, defeating only two of the three in a clash of great powers at an unimaginable scale. Ultimately, the two sealed the Titan within the Graav Archipelago further to the East by summoning an endless storm, surrounding the islands and making them the Titan's prison.

Once the battle was over, the warriors disappeared as Xander had done a century before. Bystanders believe that Xander was one of the warriors to appear; others believe it does not matter who saved Niril that day. They dub the warriors Wanderers, considering them heroes in the same vein as Xander before them.

From then on, there would be Those Chosen by the Goddesses, whether their destiny was grand or not. Most would never know they were chosen as they will be obligated to fulfill their destiny. The Clergy would take records of Those Chosen for their purposes and never reveal them to the public unless the destiny was grand enough to offer praise and admiration for them.

The world would come to learn what it means to be Chosen, knowing that it involves a fate one can never escape. While the people may rejoice over Those Chosen for a grand destiny, all secretly hope that they, or anyone they know, will not be Chosen as their lives may be forfeit.

In recent history, the world has succumbed to a new darkness. In 5088 A.D., a plague swept over the world, turning the living into bloodthirsty walking corpses. The world was turned on its head as society collapsed without so much as a warning. Rumors spread that the outbreak began in the island nation of Waalea in the Western Seas. The plague persists even two decades later.

The year is 5108 A.D. The undead walking corpses infest the lands, wandering in hordes and unleashing unbridled destruction on all living beings that cross their path. The world of Elioth is slowly recovering from the plague's destruction during the onset. Countries are rebuilding their cities within the confines of their curtain walls that shield them from the corpses of the plagued lands. Ferrisa has begun expanding its walled city in hopes of creating more space for the overcrowded Eastern Capital, Meiarldorn. The West beyond the divide is now a wasteland of a lost civilization.
