Chapter 12: Wild Hunt and The Unexpected Extortion

I find myself together with Ryu and Emi, in the deep forest as we confront a forest wolf. So far, we have fought and defeated several rank F wolves without much difficulty, but this time it's different. This wolf is a formidable enemy, a true alpha leading an even larger pack of wolves.

The alpha is much larger and fiercer than its counterparts. It possesses extraordinary strength and ferocity, and its imposing appearance tells me that it has consumed a tremendous number of cores to reach this level of power.

I look at my teammates and see determination in their eyes. We know that this battle will be much tougher than the previous ones, but we are ready to face the challenge. Our familiars, Argenius, Terragolem, and Aerovolant, are ready to fight by our side.

Ryu, Emi, and Damien prepare to confront the pack of wolves surrounding them. The wolves, with their eyes burning with fierce determination, pounce on them in a coordinated attack.

Ryu boldly faces one of the most aggressive wolves. With his unsheathed sword, Ryu moves with grace and precision, parrying the wolf's claws and counterattacking with swift thrusts. However, in the midst of the fight, one of the wolves from the pack manages to elude his attention and lunges at him from behind.

With a snarl, the wolf strikes Ryu on his left arm, inflicting a deep wound. Sharp pain radiates through his body, but Ryu clings to his determination, refusing to succumb to the pain.

Emi, witnessing Ryu's attack, rushes to his defense, keeping the other wolves at bay with her Aerovolant. The agility and speed of her familiar allow them to evade the wolves' attacks, providing vital cover for Ryu.

Damien, with Argenius, joins the fight to protect Ryu. Though he hasn't powered up his skeleton, if the situation worsens, he will be forced to do so.

Despite the injury, Ryu doesn't give up. He maximizes his sword skills, aiming to strike the wolves with lethal precision. His determination and desire to protect his companions fuel his fight.

As the battle rages on, Damien, with a healing potion, attempts to ease Ryu's wound. The healing energy of his mana envelops the wound, alleviating the pain and accelerating the healing process. However, the wound is deeper than what Damien can fully heal on the battlefield.

As the battle intensifies, the adventurers realize that the situation has become critical. The wolves, led by the pack leader, seem insurmountable. Their numbers and overwhelming strength test the abilities of our heroes.

However, just when it seemed like all hope was lost, Adam and his talented companions come to our rescue. Adam, an experienced mage, casts powerful fire spells that burn the wolves to ashes. His companions, skilled warriors, join the fight, confronting the pack leader with incredible strength and skill.

Adam: Hey, group of losers, did you see what you just did? You can't even defeat a bunch of pups! You're truly weak!

Damien: Adam, this is not the time for mocking. We faced a much stronger pack of wolves than we anticipated.

Adam: Oh, sorry, Damien. I didn't know you had trouble with those wolves. But I must admit, you all seem a bit behind the rest of us.

Ryu: Just because you're a higher rank doesn't mean you can make fun of us.

Emi: If you were a rank F adventurer, you would have ended up just like us.

Adam: Maybe you're right, but I'm a rank B adventurer, and I haven't even reached level 10, yet I can defeat these wolves with my eyes closed.

Damien: We would have won regardless if you hadn't intervened.

It's true because I was about to enhance my skeleton with my rank C darkness.

Ryu: We are aware of our limitations and we are working to overcome them. But we don't appreciate your criticism.

Emi: Adam, the important thing is to learn from our mistakes and continue to grow. We're not perfect, but we're doing our best.

Adam: Haha, if you really believe that, losers, I don't have time to waste. Give me all the cores and valuable materials you've collected. It's the least you can do to repay me for saving you.

Damien: What? Why should we do that? The loot is the result of our hard work and adventures.

Adam: Simple, because we are the strongest group, and on top of that, you are alive thanks to us.

Ryu: Adam, this is unfair. We faced risks and challenges to obtain this loot, and now you want us to hand it over to you just because you think you're superior?

Emi: We cannot accept that. We are an autonomous group, and the loot rightfully belongs to us.

Adam: Ah, I see you can't face reality. You're just a bunch of failures who delude yourselves into thinking you can be like us. But you never will be.

In the end, we have no choice but to reluctantly accept. Ryu is injured, and if we don't heal him soon, it could worsen his condition. We hand over the loot to Adam and leave. The next time I see him, he won't get away with it so easily.
