Ch4:A crimson waterfall

"It seems we found a survivor, the expedition will be cut short and we will be returning to base. The date of the next expedition will be announced shortly after returning."Said the leader after looking around. An announcement that was met with silence.

It was then that the young man concluded that the group was not a military squad or an "official" organization, but that didn't say a lot about them to him. After all, to him, they were equally untrustworthy in such a foreign and strange environment.

Soon after, the young man was put into a formation where he was surrounded by the 7-member squad. The giant leader was at the forefront leading the formation holding the dagger in his right hand if scrutinized well, one might notice that his hand might be bigger than his weapon. To his left flank, the man with the mismatched eyes stood there simply holding the rapier, to the inexperienced his stance looked full of openings, to the leader's right flank stood a cloaked brown-bearded man holding an identical weapon with a similar stance. In the middle of the formation stood the young man next to the elder observing the people around him. Behind them stood the woman who discovered him unarmed, for someone tasked with protecting the backrank she looked the most harmless but the young man understood that things might not be as they seem. To his sides were two cloaked men armed with longbows, yet no arrows in sight once again defying the young man's common sense.

As they started descending through the apartment building an eerie quiet filled the surroundings broken only by the sound of footsteps breathing and the bizarre noises coming from the outside world. This rhythm continued until the group stood in front of the entrance outside of the apartment building, many humanoid corpses stood there riddled with sharp wounds and burn marks all over their corpses some were even penetrated with holes. But what united them was one simple thing, an unshakeable, strong rotting stench emitting off their bodies.

The leader looked around once again and announced"We will be returning using the pathway we came through. Even if some of the forsaken have wandered close to it, it should still be safer than any other path."

As the young man listened to the announcement he picked up on something new.

The forsaken? Is this the term they use to describe the monsters outside?

But why would they call them the forsaken?

As much as the young man thought about it he didn't find himself making any progress. He decided to throw it to the back of his mind, only to think about it when he had more information.

As the group continued navigating the path filled with humanoid corpses, a sudden high-pitched noise penetrated their ears into their skulls, as they all turned toward the source a grey lanky figure was reflected in their eyes, this figure had cyan neon veins pulsating beneath its skin as it screamed while covering its face and flailing its limbs and body around as if throwing a tantrum.

What kind of monster is this? The young man laughed to himself like some kind of deranged individual

As if hearing his thoughts the monster suddenly stopped its movements as it abruptly turned its head towards the group. As the group was reflected in its eyes the leader's face contorted as he screamed in a panic contradicting his usual demeanor: "RUN!" As he turned his head to look in front of him a gray lanky figure was reflected in his eyes he looked down at its bald head, and as he moved his eyes he saw a head with two mismatched eyes and a head with a long brown beard dangling off it. Followed by waterfalls of red and blue liquids."Oh," The leader thought to himself before everything went black in his eyes.
