Chapter 2: Military
We entered the nearest military base of the city. Once registered as soldiers you receive a silver magical card with your name, military ranking,contribution points,division,mission cleared.
I look at my card and it’s written:
-Name:Agni Demonia
-Division: Wood Division
-Military ranking: ***Soldier
-Contribution points:0
-Mission cleared:0
Apparently there are six division in this military base: Wood,fire,air,stone,black and white. Each division has about 500 soldiers. There is also a monthly competition between the divisions, the top 10 receive a great reward like gemstones,weapons,armor and contribution points.
Gemstones are the currency is this world or at least for the non humans. They are used to make weapons,armors,items etc….
There are three colors for gemstones. Green are the cheapest and Blue the most expensive. This the value of the stones:
1 green stone
1 green garnet stone= 10 blue stones
1 large chunk green stone= 100 blue stones
1 red stone=10 Large chunk blue stones
1 red garnet stone= 10 red stones
1 large chunk red stone= 100 red stones
1 blue stone= 10 large chunk red stones
1 blue garnet stone= 10 blue stones
1 large chunk blue stone= 100 blue stones
You can exchange contribution points for gems,weapons,armor,food,mount and learn new abilities.
To earn contribution points we need do missions and they are divided in a solo mission,group mission,division mission and army mission.
I and Deva decided to solo missions because you don’t have to split contribution points and rewards with others. There is no formal training in the army, all you have to do is clearing mission to improve your skills.
Deva already went to a mission while I’m reading information how everything worked. After learning everything I went to the mission registration office.
“Grade F solo mission please,” I asked to the administration guy behind the counter. He has so much hair on his body. He is probably from the beast clan.
***Soldier can only do grade F missions so I have no other choice here.
“Here is Grade F mission for you.” The beast man said to me
I received the paper and look what’s written.
Grade: F
Type: Solo mission
Description: Collect three fire root plants in the Vahla mountain and deliver it here.
Reward: 50 contribution points
The Vahla mountain is not far from here but without a mount, I need at least two hours to reach there. And what’s up with this pitiful contribution points? With those points, I can’t even exchange the cheapest thing which cost 100 points. Not only the shitty reward but I can’t train my skills with this type of mission. What waste of time.
I rejected the mission and said, “I want a mission with the highest contribution reward possible.”
“You? According to your card, you have 0 mission fulfilled. You are just a greenhorn are you sure you want the most difficult Grade F mission? He said while giving me skeptical look
“Just give it to me, I don’t care about that.”
“Alright then as you wish than.”
He gave me a new mission and I read it again:
Grade: F
Type: Solo mission
Description: Go to the dark elf forest and kill the cursed tree. Bring a cursed branch for proof.
Reward:1000 contribution points

Wasting no time, I prepare food for a few days. I immediately left the city and head towards the Dark elf territory

After traveling for two days, I finally arrive at the Dark elf territory.I see several Dark Elves patrolling around this place with their bows. I asked to any of them for direction. “The forest is 10 miles westwards from here.” the guard said
I thanked him and walk further. I have two days food left so I need to hurry up. About an hour later, I saw the infamous Dark Elf forest.
There already five guards in the entrance. “Halt! One of of them said. It’s dangerous to enter the forest.”
“I got a mission here.” I handed the paper over to the guard
“Grade F? There is a behemoth inside the forest, you better wait until we dealt with that beast.”
What a bad luck! A behemoth is Grade A monster, with my current ability entering the forest is suicide. If I wait, there is not enough food for me. Maybe I can beg some food from those Dark Elves?
I decided to enter the forest even though it’s extremely dangerous. There is still high chance I don’t encounter the behemoth. It’s all or nothing for me I decide to take the risk. If don’t I won’t get stronger and it will difficult to survive this world by acting like a coward.
“I want to enter the forest. Please let me in!” I begged to the guards
“Are you insane?” All five of them are asking the same question
Since there is no room for barging, I will use brute force.
I’m using [Demonic Aura], with the extra speed I stole, I'm sprinting past them. Running is all what can I do.
I heard angry shouts from them “Idiot, you are hating your life so much?!” I ignored them and run.
I activated my [Demon sense] after running for a while.I didn’t sense anything. I know they stopped following me.
Great, now I need to find that cursed tree, defeat it and get out as soon as possible. I searched for the cursed tree, according to the description it’s black and huge.

“For fucking sake, how large is this forest?!” I shouted
Despite searching for 2 hours, I still haven’t found the-the cursed tree yet. Also, I haven’t encountered the behemoth yet.
I’m sitting on a nearby trunk and eats my food. It’s not delicious but I’m hungry so the taste doesn't matter to me.
After my meal, I continued my search for the cursed tree. Wandering through this forest is really a headache. Finally, after two more hours, I found the cursed tree.
It fucking moves! No wonder I can’ find it.
Concentrating dark magic on my hand palms, a black ball of light appeared. I shoot [Dark Ball] at the cursed tree.
Poof! I successfully hit the core of the cursed tree. However, the cursed tree doesn’t stop with moving. The cursed tree is moving towards me using his branches to attack.
I evaded while using [Blink]. I moved backward and shoot [Dark Ball] again. This time, the cursed tree uses his branches to protect his core.
The [Dark Ball] hits on one of the branches ,immediately destroying it.
I shoot several more [Dark Balls] and destroys every branch. The cursed tree core is vulnerable again
“GRAAA!”
Suddenly I heard a monstrous scream.What the fuck was that?
A large beast about 15 meters with two horns and red eyes appeared out of nowhere. He jumped towards the cursed tree and crushed it with one of his feet.
“CRACK!” The poor tree is just destroyed like that. Witnessing this scene, I gasped. I’m in deep shit now!
I know it’s a behemoth, so I decided to run for my life.
Using [Blink] several times to further my distances from the Behemoth. When I try [Blink] again, I won’t move towards my desired target. Fuck! So this skill has a cooldown or limited use? I didn’t know that. Deva didn’t tell me about at all.
The Behemoth with his insane speed caught up with me.He is only several meters behind me.
Even with numerous of trees in the forest, the behemoth doesn’t lose his speed. He just walks through it destroying everything he clashes. It’s like a walking bulldozer destroying everything.
