Epilogue

“Two yaks? What the heck? Why would they want that for their wedding?”

“I’m telling you, they are both romantics.”

“But Yaks? They’re.. Well they’re not clean.”

“Perhaps? But you know……”

Fa Za was happy to attend the wedding, and even happier to have been asked to officiate. True, it kept him away from his duties back at the Heavens’ Mountain School, but a lot of them had taken leave to train with the Cold Steel Sect.

In fact, the entire area looked like a carnival day in and day out with the amount of training and things going in.

Hundreds of his disciples worked in tandem to make temporary and in some cases permanent shelters. His real disciples, as he’d finally taken to cultivating his own legacy on earth.

The heavens could wait.

He’d prepared his lines, and rehearsed them again and again to Jessica’s satisfaction, until she was satisfied.

“Are you ready Fa Za?” She asked, her pure white robes without a speck of dirt.

“I believe so. This custom, of wearing white at a wedding, it is from your land?”

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Jessica nodded.

“It will look great,” she said.

“So handsome!”

“Ay, ya, too bad they are both off the market, ya?”

“I wonder what took those two so long to make it official? Do you think the Elder made them wait?”

“The afterpart on the blimp will be amazing!”

Two pristine Yaks carried two passengers from the outside of the Sect, past a line of Cultivators. It wasn’t often that such a high ranking wedding happened, and the elders demanded a spectacle, mostly so they could throw a party afterwards.

After the pain, and the sacrifice, they needed that time to unwind.

Mary had heard that there would be drinks. As she sipped from her hip flask, she mused about how everyone else would have to beat her with a stick form drinking it all. And then in return she would have to defend her intended dance partner, a certain elder from the Heaven’s Mountain school with sticks if needed.

She wept as the two veiled figures stepped down daintily from the Yaks onto prepared platforms in the center of the Sect Grounds.

All eyes were on them as the two lifted their veils and kneeled before Fa Za.

“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to join together in holy matrimony two of this Sects most dedicated disciples, An Yong and Jung. As they have served us in their darkest hour, we bless their union as…’

Mary sniffed, as the two men exchanged rings in the brief but poignant ceremony.

She hoped that her wedding to her intended could only go as seamlessly.

Jess sat up, her shift falling off her.

Grace rolled over, pulling her in tight. The comfort felt like all both had ever needed all at once.

“You sure that you want to have a wedding like that, Jess?”

“About as sure as I am that I want it to be with you.”

“Then, let’s do it!”

Grace squeezed her harder.

“How about we wait until about a week from now,” Jess replied, placing Grace's head into her shoulder as she turned.

Grace kissed her long on the lips.

“A week? Sure but why?”

“I think that the aunties might need that long to get over their hangovers.”
