Nin had the misfortune of being born into the poor colony of Rising Sun, where any disruption in the food supply would spell doom for its inhabitants. As one of the colony’s overworked foragers, she is forced to spend each day searching for enough food to keep the colony from starving. When she learns about a lost paradise that was once the colony’s home and why it was abandoned long ago, she questions why no one is attempting to locate and reoccupy it.
