Chapter 4

Guard: Bandit attack!!!

Astaroth: I guess my senses are rusted huh? I need to resharpen it when we arrive later. First off let me handle this barbarians. Observe me while fighting and don’t go out of this carriage.

Me: Yes, go get’em grandpa.

I peeked at the window and watch as my grandpa and the guards dealing with the bandits. My grandpa decapitated one of the bandits rushing at him.

The arm got cleanly cut and I see bones and blood dripping. I almost throwed up seeing so much blood. I feel nauseated seeing too much Gore.

I try to supressed it and continued watching. It’s a one sided massacre the guards are for formalities only. Mother was right my grandpa was enough to handle them.

I noticed that grandpa got enveloped by green and some shade of black.

So he’s a dual elemental warrior but why isn’t he using spells to wipe them all out in one go. He moves smoothly and upon closer observation there isn’t a speck of blood on his armor.

After a while the bandits have thinned out. I can already count them 1 2 3 4 ….. 8. Only 8 remains among the bandits. They are so frightened and hesitating to attack.

They must be frustrated right now, they thought they have the advantage in numbers but now only few of them are still alive.

My grandfather dissolve like a smoke and appears behind one of the bandits. The bandit was dumbfounded while the sword of my grandpa slit his throat.

The other bandits lowered their swords and begged for mercy. But my grandpa like a death god showing no mercy and killed them on one fell swoop.

What the fuck why did he kill them so ruthlessly. I thought he was gonna interogate one of them. He slashed his sword trying to remove the blood after that he unsheathed it and enter the carriage like nothing happened. I remained silent. Then asked.

Me: uhm grandpa why didn’t you spare one of them?

Astaroth: I killed them so they can’t make evil again.

Me: dont you need to interrogate them? and... they might changed.

Damn I sound so hypocritical.

Astaroth: people don’t change that easily Aiden, if I have spared them can you guarantee they won’t do it anymore? and no need for interrogation they are just mere mountain bandits.

Me: but even so they already thrown their weapons and beg for their lives.

Astaroth: you really is still just a child. I’ll mold you properly like training my soldiers, i guess I'll be stricter with my grandson so prepare yourself. I won’t show mercy. haha

Me: (gulp) ok grandpa

He really is ruthless. From the way he said that he won’t see me as his grandson and trains me until I squeezed every bit of my stamina.

I hope I can survive his training method. We continued our journey. My grandfather didn’t talk again and just closed his eyes. No other bandit attacked us, and finally the carriage stop.

Astaroth: we’re here.

I looked outside but I can’t see any house it’s just like a sea of trees. I get down from the carriage. My grandfather waves his hand and the scenery in front of us dissolve. And a two storey villa can be seen. I can see mana encircling it. It was protected by a barrier huh.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

Astaroth: this will be your new home while we’re here.

A maid and a Butler welcomed us.

Maid(Butler): welcome back master.

Astaroth: this is Aiden my Grandson.

Maid (butler): we greet young master

Me: nice to meet you two

The guards and the butler moved our luggage. I extracted The books from the ring and was placed in the studies. The maid served us milk and tea for my grandpa. After unloading all our things the guards bid farewell to return to the capital.

Astaroth: Aiden get some rest. Aerith lead him to his room.

So the maid is named Aerith. She has brown hair tied up with a curly locks. With an amiable smile like a mother.

Aerith: yes master. Follow me little lord.

I followed the maid Aerith.

Me: so uhm sister Aerith what is the name of Mr.Butler?

Aerith: He is named Sebastian. Young master.

The butler has short silver hair comb neatly. With a look on his 30's but you can feel a different vibe when you look at him.

Me: oh. So how long have you served my grandpa?

Aerith: for almost 20 years now young master, can I ask how old is young master?

Me: I just turned 5 years old

Aerith: Oh so you are starting to train at such a young age. Commonly children starts to train when they reach 7 years old.

Me: Don’t mind it. I guess I'm an exception. My grandpa want's me to be a warrior as early as possible. (i just scatch my cheek feeling helpless)

We finally arrived in front of the door to my room.

Aerith: I’ll leave young master for now. I’ll call you when the dinner is ready.

Me: thank you sister Aerith

I closed the door and dives to my bed. Our journey from the capital to here took 5 days. Finally I can lie down comfortably.

I think about the time when my grandfather slaughtered all those bandits. He really is super strong. I wish I can surpass him one day. I took a nap.

Someone is knocking at the door calling me. It’s Aerith, I guess it is time for dinner now. I got up and opened the door. And Aerith lead me to the dining area. My grandfather is already there while the butler Sebastian is pouring some wine in my grandpa’s cup.

I sit beside my grandpa and he signalled me to start eating.

Astaroth: so do you like it here?

Me: (while eating the soup) yup I like it here it so peaceful

Astaroth: good, that you like it. This whole mountain will be your training ground from now on.

Me: this whole mountain?

Astaroth: yes but first you must have knowledge. So for 1 year you’ll only focus on studying and excercise everyday. I know you know how to read already so I’ll choose books for you to memorize and I’ll teach you how to nourish your body with mana.

Me: okay grandpa I will do my best.

After finishing our dinner my grandfather lead me to his study room. We entered the room and he choose some books from the shelves and gave it to me. He gave me a total of 3 books.

Astaroth: you should study and memorize it well it will be useful for your training.

Me: yes grandpa

Astaroth: you are dismissed for today go get some rest and I’ll teach you how to nourish your body with mana tomorrow.

I bowed and carried the books to my room. I’ll check these books tomorrow. I sit on my bed and meditate for 1 hour and gone to sleep.
