“Hey! What do you mean girlfriend!”
“Oh nothing I naturally wasn’t trying to tease you or anything!”
“Damnit not you too!”
I shrugged at his reply, and suddenly turned serious. While I like to joke around truthfully that was only after we set our plans up for the future, noticing my stern face Tyler, also get serious and spoke up again.
“Okay, I’ll go let her know!”
“Ah before that Tyler, what’s your ability?”
Sasha asked with a curious face. But as she said it she was immediately stunned and even I was momentarily unable to react. The reason I was so startled was because he disappeared! Right in front of us it was if he just vanished! I couldn’t believe it so I touched the previous spot he was in and in an instant he reappeared!
“Haha what d’you think?”
“Wow! That’s so cool!”
Leo and I both unconsciously nodded in agreement. It was a man’s romance to be able to turn invisible. Why? Well that’s obvious but I won’t dwell into the topic very much. But now I was somewhat unhappily grumbling, I mean I get a friggin purple ball that does who the frick cares what, like it's a friggin bouncy looking ball, and here my new friend gets a goddamn stealth ability! What hell kind of fairness is this? However before I was able to continue grumbling Tyler spoke up.
“Truthfully, it's not fully stealth. I can only hide myself from one’s direct vision. If someone isn’t looking for me I can’t hide from them. Thus its pretty useless at the moment but I still feel maybe later it will turn into full stealth!”
‘FUCK YEAH!’
Serves you right is what I thought in my mind however I still felt kind of disappointed maybe I could have given him a camera or something for future reference? But now that went down the drain and as if Sasha knew what I was thinking she gave me a cold glare. Somehow I even regret thinking at this very moment. To change the subject and hopefully the temperature around me I encouraged Tyler.
“Hey don’t worry you can use it to escape right? Also as long as they are aware of your presence you can disappear right? Therefore once you get seen you can just disappear and attack from behind. So it’s not too bad!”
I thought at a millions times per second to come up with a solid strategy for his ability. It wasn’t because I wanted to make Sasha think otherwise about my wandering thoughts! Well maybe but that’s besides the point it was true that Tyler’s ability would be very useless for hit and run tactics!
“You should have an [Inherent] ability too right?”
While I was calming my heart beat and the glare softened considerably Leo asked the question Sasha and I forgot about. Tyler smiled once again and put his hand to the ground!
“My [Inherent] skill is [Radar]! When I put my hand on the ground I’m able to tell where everything is within 200 meters! Look there is obviously us four here, 24 people are in the next room over, and 42 people are in the main center, with the rest spread out through out the other rooms except the 5 people on lookout…..”
Before Tyler, could finish his sentence his facial expression turned into one of utter fear. I had no idea what was going on but it obviously had something to do with his radar and that he picked something up. I quickly reminded him to tell us something instead of standing there dumbfounded.
“Tyler, what did you see!”
“Ryker…. There are 500 plus unknown humanoids coming to this area right now!”
“What?!”
I was shocked but I was unable to speak and instead the quiet Leo screamed out before he rushed out. I quickly tackled him to calm him down and spoke to him.

“Leo! Get yourself together man! Rushing out like an idiot won’t help solve anything! Get everyone gathered and have them enter the main center Sasha!”
“Okay!”
Without listening to the rest she immediately ran out of the room, while still on the ground and finally starting to get up Leo looked at me with a thankful expression. He was able to think more clearly which was good, thankfully my actions prevented anything from escalating. I had to get things going so I thought of a simple but quick method to stall for time.
“Leo gather any tables or large heavy objects and use the jocks to barricade the entrance! I don’t care if you cover the top just make it so it blocks the entire doorway!”
“Right!”
Just then Leo also rushed off with a glint of determination. I wasn’t able to hear it clearly but I figured Leo had said some words of encouragement. I looked at Tyler, who was still a little shaken and I stretched out my arm onto his shoulder. He sadly jumped in fright, and I could only slowly approach him calming him down.
“Listen Tyler, we need everyone to stay as calm as possible and I need your help to make out of this situation alive!”
As if he understood a great deal of things from a simple sentence, he looked at me with a calm expression. His hesitation had vanished from his eyes which was good, as I couldn’t use anyone who couldn’t react to emergencies.
“Go find that girl and bring her to the back of the main center near the exit! but first tell me if there are any creatures near that emergency exit and if so how many. Also are the monsters grouped or spread out over a large area or at the very least within the 200 meters you can see.”
“Um one second!”
The best course of action was to give him slight hope first and when I told him about the exit he was able to get the point, unfortunately the situation was going to be a lot harder than I thought when Tyler, responded.
“Ryker, the emergency exit already has about 100 monsters gathered and the are even more tightly gathered than the other 500. The ones by the main entrance are still tightly grouped that escaping through by rushing won’t work!”
It was good that Tyler got my general plan immediately. I had originally planned on just running away with as many people as possible as none of us were proficient enough with our abilities to use them correctly. Thus the chance of running felt higher than fighting, however the real problem wasn’t simple enough to make it easy for me. I gestured for Tyler to quickly and get his girl friend. I had to use all the remaining time that was being stalled to think of a plan.
“Urgh! I hate not knowing everything! If i don’t know everyone’s abilities how the hell can I come up with a plan! I don’t know how strong Sasha’s fireball is but I know she won’t be able to kill 600+ enemies! That goes for me as well, and my ability is even more unlikely to be useful!”
I wracked my brain multiple times over as I tried to think of a way to survive. However the situation was looking bad as the only sound idea I could come up with was to stall for time and fight it off. I wasn’t sure of this, but if the monsters were attacking during the night it was more than likely because they were nocturnal! If they were nocturnal fighting in bright sunlight where their vision would be weakened it would be a chance to run away then! But that was a big if, and the night had just begun and we still had hours until sunrise! The worst part was I didn’t even know how to heal a sunrise worked in this world! Who knows maybe the sun would stay down for days!
It wasn’t something that was fun to think about but all possibilities must be thought of when trying to survive. I finally realized how bad this world was going to be after all, it's only the first day and we have 600 plus monsters to fight off. I clenched my fist and ran over to the main center to regroup with my friends. The night had only begun!
