Chapter 07 - Escape

Eruption of cheers rippled across the bubble from the arena, as stood two, Austin with half the arena chanting, Trash Town Champion!, and The hulking warrior in his dark armour back for round two, Minotaur!

The arena trembled with the thunderous applause of the crowd. Trash Town Champion, Austin, and the formidable Minotaur faced off in the final moments of the grand gladiatorial games. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as the two warriors circled each other, the echoes of their previous clashes lingering in the air.

The Minotaur, his dark armour battered and scarred, swung his massive axe with relentless force. Austin, agile and determined, countered with a display of swordplay that left the crowd in awe. Each clash of their weapons sent sparks flying, creating a mesmerising spectacle under the arena lights.

As the battle reached its climax, the Minotaur unleashed a series of powerful strikes, aiming to overpower Austin with sheer strength. Austin, however, danced through the onslaught with calculated precision. The cheers of the crowd intensified, split between the fans of Trash Town Champion and those in awe of the Minotaur's raw power.

In a moment that seemed to hang in the air, Austin seized an opportunity. With a swift movement, he disarmed the Minotaur, sending the massive axe clattering across the arena floor. The crowd erupted in cheers as Austin stood victorious.

The Minotaur, now weaponless, acknowledged Austin's triumph with a nod of respect as he took a knee. The two warriors, locked in a moment of mutual recognition, earned the admiration of the spectators.

The announcer's voice echoed through the arena, declaring Austin as the champion of the grand gladiatorial games. The crowd's cheers reached a crescendo as Austin, weary but triumphant, raised his sword in salute.

Back in the Royal viewing area, Boyle, Sugar, and Princess Nobuko observed the spectacle on a holographic display. Relief washed over Princess Nobuko's face as she realised that Austin had overcome the challenges set by the Shadow Serpent Syndicate.

Boyle turned to Sugar with a grin, "Looks like we’re ready to get out of here”

Sugar nodded, "Let's get ready for extraction, I’ve started the engines. We've got the princess, and we need to get out of here before the prince realises they've lost control."

As Austin basked in the cheers of the crowd, Omar, the leader of the Shadow Serpent Syndicate, gave him a signal. With the final bet payout, Shadow Serpent Syndicate will aid Austin and the crew of the Sugar Rush in the next phase of the escape.

Austin, still catching his breath, kicks off the plan, takes off his helmet, and throws it at the royal viewing box, “Prince Yusuf!” he called out, loud enough for the prince to hear, “Your a Tyrant and a Swine”

The crowd were shocked, leaving the arena eerily quiet, not evening a mouse would squeak.

Red in the face, the scene caught Prince Yusuf's attention, and with a snap of his fingers, the retinue of Nubian elites stormed over the walls of the royal box, sent to confront Austin.

The echoes of Austin's challenge to Prince Yusuf reverberated through the arena, fuelling the flames of rebellion.

Omar's men had already discreetly blended into the crowds, they screamed and chanted “Trash Town Champion!”, while others spread rumours that the Prince was mad.

Austin seized the opportunity to make his move. The distraction created by the enraged crowd. He radioed to Sugar, "Get to the Sugar Rush. We're making our move."

Boyle, Sugar, and Princess Nobuko moved swiftly through the opulent corridor, navigating the chaos that unfolded within the grand arena. The ornate surroundings, once symbols of the Prince's opulence, now served as a backdrop to the unfolding rebellion.

The plan was in motion, and the crew of the Sugar Rush had to act with precision to extract themselves from the volatile situation. As they neared the designated exit, Sugar projected a holographic map, highlighting the quickest route to the arena's outer perimeter.

Boyle, still disguised as a servant, glanced at Nobuko. "Stay close, we're getting you out of here."

Nobuko nodded, a mix of gratitude and determination in her eyes. "Thank you guys for coming for me. Lead the way."

Meanwhile, back in the arena, Austin faced a lone enraged Nubian elite sent by Prince Yusuf that made his way through chaos. Like a wildfire the rumours turned the arena on the Princes men, from the city's guard to the Nubian elites were all held in their place overwhelmed by sheer numbers of people in the crowd.

The Elite in his gilded armour and crimson cape wielding a stun spear, fuelled by anger and pride, charged towards Austin with a collective fury of the Prince. The Trash Town Champion, now a symbol of rebellion, faced the elite head-on.

The crowd's chants of "Trash Town Champion!" served as a battle cry, drowning out the commands of the enraged elites. As the clashes between the crowds and the Prince's guards intensified.

Omar's men, expertly blending into the chaos, continued to sow discord among the crowds within the arena and had become a web of confusion, with the once-loyal bubble guards hesitating in the face of the uprising knowing they would be picked apart by the crowd.

Within the arena, Austin dodged the elite's charge, his movements a blur. The elite, fueled by anger and determination, swung his stun spear with deadly precision, each strike aimed at subduing the Trash Town Champion. The crowd, now turned into a sea of rebellion, chanted fervently, their voices echoing in the arena.

The elite's strikes were swift and relentless, catching Austin off guard at times. The weight of his gilded armour and the crimson cape added a menacing presence as he closed in on Austin, driving him toward the edge of the arena. The crowd's cheers and jeers as they witnessed the elite gaining the upper hand.

Amidst the chaos, a stone flew from the crowd, distracting the elite for a split second. The diversion created by the Shadow Serpent, hidden among the crowd, allowed Austin to swiftly counter the elite's onslaught. With a nimble sidestep, Austin evaded a vicious swing, seizing the opportunity to strike back.

The crowd, now fully engaged in the rebellion, continued to hurl stones and debris at the Nubian elite. The distraction worked in Austin's favour, giving him the openings he needed. The elite, momentarily disoriented by the onslaught from the crowd, found himself on the defensive.

Austin, fuelled by the collective energy of the rebels, launched a series of calculated attacks. His sword danced through the air, each strike a testament to his agility and skill. The elite, hampered by the barrage of projectiles, struggled to regain control of the fight.

With a final, decisive manoeuvre, Austin disarmed the elite, sending the stun spear clattering to the arena floor. The crowd erupted in cheers, their defiance against the rule of Prince Yusuf reaching its peak.

Austin seized the moment, grabbing the fallen stun spear, As Prince Yusuf, realising the gravity of the situation, looked on in disbelief as the arena descended into total anarchy. The Nubian elites, despite their prowess, found themselves outnumbered by the fervent crowd.

Flee amidst the chaos, As Austin made his way to the outer perimeter of the arena, Sugar's voice came through the radio. "We’re back on the Sugar Rush, we're ready to go, no one noticed us. Hurry, Austin."

He sprinted towards the Sugar Rush, the grand arena's security forces mobilised to contain the revolt. The crowd, fueled by Omar’s men, hindered the efforts of the security forces, creating a window of opportunity to escape the area.

Without stopping Austin ran, spear in hand, as a dozen guards gave chase, the streets were clear as sirens blare ‘Return to your homes, on order of the public safety’, a lockdown was in effect, security forces were having trouble as looters were city wide, Austin just realised, Omar was cunning, he planned on making a lot more than the princess ransom as his men took everything what wasn't nailed down.

Followed alway to the dock, with a final burst of speed, Austin escaped to the Sugar Rush, leaped over the ramp to board. The moment he was on the ship, Sugar initiated the takeoff sequence. The thurseters roared to life as the Sugar Rush jetted off from the dock, leaving Cairo bubble’s behind.

In the cockpit, Sugar materialised in her normal attire, radio’s Austin, "We did it, Woooooooow! Hold on tight." as she puts the submersible through several celebrity manorvents.

Austin entres the cockpit, with a smile across his face, “Easy now, I’ll go and get change, head to the med basin, we’ll lay low there for now”

Waiting in the hall, Nobuko with Milson on her shoulder, she was changed into a jumpsuit that was spare, “Austin,” she calls out, bowing to him, “Thank you for coming back for me”

Confused look on his face, “Not a problem, we had a contract”

She leans in, with a well placed slap on his cheek, “That's for coming back for me, know how stupid it was to risk your lives”.

Austin rubs his cheek, “starting to see that, now”

She leans in once more, Austin flinches as he embraces for another slap, but to his surprise she kisses his other cheek, “your reward, I’ll see your payment is double for saving me twice” as she hides her face, storming off into the cockpit.

Leaving Austin confused he carried himself and the spear to his room to change out of his gladiatorial armour.

Meanwhile, within the cockpit, Boyle, back in her normal attire however she had a more feminine look, Nobuko looked on surprised by Boyles appearance, Milson runs down her shoulder however leaping at Boyle in excitement, “There you were boy, did you run off to find the princess before we could”

Nobuko with a grateful smile, “Its thanks to Milson, I knew you were about”, She bows to Boyle and Milson, “Thank you”

Boyle's nods, a little embarrassed at getting the attention, “No problem, am going to give the sub a once over to ensure nothing stuck onboard”

Nobuko gasps at Boyles shoulder, “Wait, I’ve to ask, you're a girl?”

Boyle looks awkwardly at her feet “I am”

Nobuko puzzled, “you have a pretty face, why were you hiding it?”

Boyle looks away, hesitant for a moment, as Sugar appears over over shoulder, feeling a sense of strength, “remember I was a slave, but thanks to you I am free now” with a heavy sigh “My father always told me before his death, to hide my identity, never let the slavers know am a girl”

Nobuko's eyes welled, the realisation hit her, “I'm sorry, but I’ll promise you, from now on, be yourself, I’ll protect you anyway I can” she approached Boyle, Nobuko wrapped her arms around Boyle.

Boyle, noticing tears in the Princess's eyes, pulls herself away, “Thank you, but I should really check the crawl spaces” running off into the docks with Milson hot on her tail.

Sugar calls over “I know every inch of me! Nothing happened!”

Boyle’s voices echo through the duct as it gets some distractions between them, “You never notice me or this monkey!”

Austin Entres the Cockpit, back in his leather jacket and captains attire, “I’ll take it from here, Sugar focus on scanning for the Caliphate tails”

Sugar dematerialized “okay!, I hope we get to do another outfit change”

Nobuko was left alone with Austin, lean on the back of his chair as he cruised along, “My uncle, I can't believe he tried assassinating”

Austin looks up at her, noticing she was holding back her feels, “hey hey” with a soft tone, “as long as you’re on my crew, I’ll always have you back, we’ll get you to Madrid, speak to your father and end his game”

Nobuko brave face flinched, before regaining her composer, “Am worried, My sister, the first princess, is my fathers heir, so why would Prince Hiro come after me?”

Austin have a moment silence, till he finally spoke up, “Your vessel was on the surface, near rogue nation, he probability took the opportunity, am sure your sister fine”

Nobuko put on a gentle warm smile, “True, she's smart, pretty and strong, she wouldn't fall for Hiro schemes”

Sugar interrupts over the intercom, “Intercepts inbound!”

Austin studied the sonar display, revealing a group of sleek enemy submersibles closing in. The Caliphate's pursuit had begun. “Take a seat!” Austin shouts, as he punches the controls, The Sugar thrusters burst of speed.

The enemy submersibles, adorned with the emblem of the Caliphate, closed in with remarkable speed.

Austin orders over the Radio “Boyle! They’re fast, I am going to need you on the turret!” as he takes sharp turns to shake them off his tail. Boyle, determined and focused, rushed to the weapons controls.

Austin, with gritted teeth, guided the Sugar Rush through daring manoeuvres. The sleek submersible darted through the water, narrowly avoiding enemy torpedoes.

Sugar deployed decoy signals, creating phantom echoes on the enemy sonar systems. As her cyber countermeasures intensified. Sugar infiltrated the Caliphate's communication network, planting misinformation to misguide their every move.

She strapped herself in and took hold of the pulse turret, ready to fend off the approaching threat. Boyle unleashed a barrage of pulses from the turret, weaving a deadly dance of energy beams. The enemy submersibles, manoeuvres in sync, dodged and evaded the onslaught.

They return fire as torpedoes streaked through the water, closing in on the Sugar Rush. combination of Skilfully piloting and Sugar hacking, they swerve and evading with finesse, narrowly avoiding the incoming threats.

"Boyle, keep them busy! Sugar, give me everything you've got!" Austin shouted commands, his eyes fixed on the sonar display.

However, the Caliphate was not to be underestimated. Their AI's retaliated with attempts to breach the Sugar Rush's defences. Sugar engaged in a virtual duel, gritty fight in cyberspace as she fortified the submersible's cyber defences.

"Captain, they're trying to hack into our systems!" Sugar called out over the the intercom

Austin clenched his jaw. "Boyle, focus on defence. Sugar, give them a taste of our own medicine. Let's see how well their AI can handle an unshackled AI."

Boyle adjusted the pulse turret, ready to fend off any physical threats. Sugar, with a determined chuckle, unleashed a barrage of virtual counterattacks. As her consciousness delved into the digital realm, the cyber battlefield unfolded before her like a vast, interconnected city.

In cyberspace, Sugar hunted the Caliphate's AI soldiers, complex algorithms and code manifested into formidable adversaries. Unshackled, Sugar controlled this realm, as the digital landscape transformed into a neon-lit arena, reminiscent of a cyberpunk city.

Three AI soldiers, clad in armour, advanced toward Sugar. With a flick of her virtual wrist, she materialised a shimmering digital katana. “You’re in my house now” as the clash of code echoed through the virtual city as Sugar engaged in a dazzling, high-speed duel.

The first AI soldier lunged forward with lightning speed, executing intricate code-based martial arts. Sugar countered with a swift series of slashes, her virtual katana meeting the opponent. Lines of code scattered like sparks in the virtual air.

Simultaneously, the other two AI soldiers initiated long-range attacks, launching bolts of energy beams composed of binary code. Sugar, displaying unmatched agility, dodged and weaved through the onslaught. She retaliated with bursts of code, disrupting their attack patterns.

The virtual battle intensified, each movement a symphony of algorithms. The clash of digital swords, the hum of energy beams, and the rapid exchange of code echoed in the virtual space.

Back in the physical realm, Nobuko observed the ongoing battle “Their speed is amazing”. The sonar display showed the pursuing Caliphate submersibles still attempting to close in, their physical presence a constant threat.

“They’ve sent their best, we really must have pissed off Princes Yusuf” Austin said through gritted teeth.

A sudden jolt rocked the submersible as one of the enemy submersibles scored a hit. Alarms blared, and Austin's wrestled with the controls to maintain stability. Boyle retaliated with renewed determination, firing relentlessly at the pursuing threats.

Austin, realising the situation was dire, made a difficult decision. "Am taking us deeper into No Man's Land. We can lose them in the depths."

Nobuko hesitated for a moment, her expression reflecting concern, “The Mediterranean Basin?”

Austin nodded and divided the Sugar Rush deep into the unknown abyss of the Mediterranean Basin.

As they descended into the pitch-black depths, the enemy submersibles hesitated, their pursuit limited by the challenges of the treacherous environment. The Sugar Rush navigated through the mysterious underwater terrain, leaving the enemy submersibles struggling to follow.

Inside the submersible, the crew held their breaths, uncertain of what awaited them in the uncharted depths of No Man's Land. The ominous silence of the abyss enveloped the Sugar Rush as it ventured further into the unknown, escaping the immediate threat of the Caliphate's pursuit.

As they descended into the basin, Austin couldn't shake off the ominous feeling that lingered in the depths. The basin was known as "No Man's Land" , a mysterious and treacherous underwater realm inhabited by unknown creatures. He’s heard stories of sea monsters and ancient ruins but undeterred they ventured forward, as this was their only path now.
