Hello you special few!
Thank you so much for reading Scholars of the Braided Path up to this point, I truly appreciate it. Unfortunately, as the title states, I'll be taking an indefinite hiatus. I love this story and these characters, so it's not dropped, I really believe I'll come back to it at some point, but I've been struggling lately. My time management has been all over the place and that meant I had to put writing on the back burner as I got pulled in a dozen different directions. But such is life, we often sacrifice our passions for responsibilities, stability, and security.
There's also a small matter of motivation. As much as I like to think I'm not a numbers guy I can't help but feel depressed when I see SotBP's numbers. Readership is down to about 10% of what we started with and even at its peak the numbers weren't anything to brag about. Add in the fact it's been almost a year since anyone has commented and I can't help but feel like people just aren't interested. All of that saps away what little time I actually do have to write as I constantly have to fight my way through writer's block in the form of a little voice telling me that I'm wasting my time and no one will read it anyway, so... yeah... I need this break to clear my head and get myself sorted.
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
While I'm away if anyone wants to write fanfic using my characters or my setting GO FOR IT!!! Tag me I'd love to read it! Just be sure to credit my work by linking back to my story, who knows maybe it will revive readership here.
This isn't good bye, it's see you later.
Now, I don't want to leave my real fans completely hanging and I do have the next arc outlined so if you want some SPOILERS keep reading.
Ku Wei is headed back to Egypt with the hawk mask that has been converted into a falcon. Using it and the shadow techniques he picked up from Ankoku he will masquerade as the embodiment of the Egyptian god Horus. The arc will play out with heavy influences from Zoro as Ku Wei undermines the Egyptian nobles using his Horus persona while pretending to be a rich merchant eager to join their ranks using his Ren Amun persona. There will be action, intrigue, and romance as he strives to tear down everything the Pharaoh has built and free the slaves. We were also going to explore Egyptian religion and how it ties into their cultivation of the Soul and Ku Wei presenting himself as a god among them was going to have big ramifications.
