Boring Life

Boring Life

Rue Cassius a senior year highschooler that is almost 18 years old, about to enroll into college.

I have been waiting years to get out of this crappy school. I can’t even focus on the subject because Marcy and Dawn are pulling the fire alarm again as a joke just to have a good laugh for once. But I bet they had too much fun this year, they’re always doing things like this, getting themselves into trouble, disturbing people, harassing them and always asking random strangers questions that even I don't get. But I'll let them be themselves. Obviously they’re going to grow more mature overtime and realize that they shouldn’t have done things to these poor people. That's just my thinking though.

I remember in middle school, everyone had short shorts and nirvana sweatshirts, in the halls I would always see those types of girls wearing the same type of clothing. And they still do in highschool. Their bratty tone of voice, the way they always made fun of people behind their backs, and how rude they are. I’m glad that I didn't use social media that much in that year. Who knows what I would become if I did.

Well, this is my last, and final year of highschool. I can finally be free from this mess. Though I will miss the teachers, they were all nice to me, they helped me study for tests and quizzes and sometimes gave me the answers. My grades weren’t the best, but I can still graduate highschool.

As soon as this semester ends I’m free from hell aka highschool. The reason why I’m so eager to leave highschool is because I can go independent, and not rely on anyone in college. School of visual arts, where I can learn more about Art, and its History. I already asked my friend, Kayla, to let me apply to work with her at a cafe that just opened not too long ago. All I have to do is wait. Wait. Wait until the final and last day of Highschool to start my new adventure.

DING…DING…

“All right class, that was the bell. Don’t forget about your homework that's due next class and make sure to complete the packet” Ms. Hernandez said.

Many thank you’s came out of everyone’s mouth as they walked out the door. Except I don’t know how to say thank you. Usually I’m very quiet in all of my classes, I don’t think I’ve ever talked to a teacher once this year. It’s a new record for me I guess. One day down, 61 more to go.

The bus ride is usually around an hour and a half. I usually sit by myself in the middle row with my airpods in either reading or sleeping. I can’t really draw when the bus is moving, nor when I don’t have Inspiration.

An hour and a half has passed, Finally it came to my stop. It was a 5 minute walk to get to my house, usually mom would come and pick me up but she’s at a business meeting today. She doesn’t come home often so I don’t see her that much during weekdays. On weekends she’s usually hanging out with her boyfriend doing their own stuff. Though, I do wish she would pay more attention to her child who is about to graduate into college, but this is the year that families part away from each other, move to a different state or city. Sometimes I wonder what mom is thinking, why doesn’t she pay much attention to her child? Is other affairs more important than her own child? Atleast, for now, I’ll leave it alone.

After I walked up the doorstep, I opened my backpack to look for my keys. They were golden and rusted, I’ve been using them since I was a little champ. I never had a thought to throw them out because I was always afraid of leaving things. So I either store it up inside my closet or put it on shelfs.

Once I entered my house, There was a shoe rack right next to me. It had 2 other pairs of shoes on it, one was my moms black heels, and the other was dress shoes that belonged to men, specifically. Once I looked at the shoe rack, I could already guess what was happening. Messing eachother up in the bedroom. I quickly ran back outside, I had the urge to slam the door, but I had to let it quietly close so they wouldn’t notice me.

I walked along the street, letting it guide me into the nature path I used to always go to as a champ. It had rocks on each side like it always did, concrete rocky roads, surrounded by trees, and ponds. Having those good memories makes me jealous of my past self. Too bad when I leave, I won't see this trail of good memories anymore.

Now, my mom and dad are divorced, my mom always hooks up with a man every 2 weeks or so. I don’t even bother with my dad, he’s an alcoholic just like my mom but a bit better.

As Rue walks through the park, a buzzing noise starts going off. It started playing “High by the beach” by Lana Del Rey. It was his phone. It kept on buzzing. He never picked up the phone. It probably was because he knew who was calling him. His father. Rue barely talks to his father, he didn’t bother picking up. The buzzing noise kept going off. He still hasn’t answered.

Finally, Rue got sick of his father spam calling him, this time he picks up.

“Jesus, when will you learn to pick up the first time I call you? Eh?” Rue’s father said.

Rue didn’t answer.

“When will you become more mature and listen to me?”

Rue again, didn’t answer, but from what his father said he was probably the most mature one here.

“Is there something you wanted? Why would you call me at this hour?” Rue said in an infuriated tone.

“Can I not call and check up on my own son? The only reason why I keep on calling you is because your mom probably doesn’t pay attention to you”.

It was true what he said, Rue’s mom didn’t pay him a single glance at all. It was like he wasn’t born at all in his mother’s eyes. Rue started to stay quiet. No noise came out of him on the phone.

“I’m fine. I’m about to go to college, so no need for you to check up on me anymore”.

They both stayed quiet.

“Has time really passed that fast? I feel like only yesterday the whole family was together..” Rue’s father said in a heartsick way.

“Father, please stop. That was in the olden days, no need to bring up those memories”. Rue said concerningly.

“I’ve got to go now, it was nice talking to you for once. Please pick up the first time I call you, I was worried something happened to you when you didn’t pick up earlier”.

Rue said his goodbye to his father, once the call was over, he sat on the side of the road. It wasn’t a safe place to be, but it’s better than at home where mother is doing nonsense. I can’t stand being here any longer. It’s frustrating seeing my mother like this.

It started getting dark outside, to be fair, I was enjoying the scenery and the peacefulness. But everything comes to an end. Before it gets too dark I have to go home or else my mom will yell at me for being late.

As I walked alongside the rocky road, there was a figure standing right next to a black luxurious car. You don’t see those types of things around this poor, rusty old neighborhood. The figure was tall, about 6’3ft. Wearing a black suit, and what looked to be, a little shorter than mid-length parted jet black hair. A truly mysterious figure.

I kept on walking, getting closer to the mysterious man. As soon as I noticed, the luxurious car was right next to my mothers house. I wonder if it’s another man she got together with while having another relationship with the guy inside the house.

The man then turned his head, looking at me passing the sidewalk. He then came straight forward to me. The tension I feel from him is to the point someone would piss in their pants. The man just looked straight at me. I feel like fainting now due to the situation I’m in now.

The man opened his mouth and started talking.
