Epilogue: Into the Light

Garin pushed open the exit doors revealing the cave entrance that they came through, darkened with the power outage. Selok lay in the corner of the cave near the trap door, sleeping soundly. “Terra, wake Selok up, were going to need him.”

Terra rushed over to the rock spider, speaking in the strange tongue. Sara closed the door behind them, motioning Garin to come over. “Seal the door Garin, it’ll keep them from following us if they try.” Summoning the heat of rage within his body, Garin shot gouts of flame over the entrance, melting the frame in place.

“So now that we got that out of the way, were do we go Garin?”

Garin turned to the trapdoor, stretching he arms out so that he could reach the massive rock overhead. “We’re going to find them Sara,”

“Find them?”

“The Shandori, we are not the only ones, after all.”

“Garin, we don’t know that for sure. Terra might have been the only one to survive simply because of what she went through. We wouldn’t even know where to look?”

"So why are we really doing this?”

Hearing Sara sound so defeated hurt Garin, if she was starting to lose hope, how long could he last?

“We have to try Sara, we can’t just roll over and die.”

Selok came over, Terra on his back.

“We better get going then,” was all the Shandori said.

Lifting with his tendrils, Garin pressed the rock, pushing it on its side. He grabbed onto Selok’s hulky frame as the spider climbed the cavern walls to the surface.

The light of the strange white suns burst through the entrance, as Sara, Garin, and Terra rode on Selok into the metallic landscape.
