Satan's Little Helper
It definitely moved

It definitely moved

It was dark, really dark. The jungle surrounding the makeshift path was dense. Those who stumble upon this jungle would think that it was the night. However, the time was still noon-ish.

PANT PANT PANT

Timmy was making his way down the mountain while profusely panting.

PANT PANT PANT

Beads of sweat dripped out of the pores of his entire body. His white shirt and brown trousers were wet. The reasons for his shirt to be wet were clear. It was mainly the neck and armpits that were visibly wet. However, his brown trousers? Judging from the past, I think he's pissed himself.

Tens of yards away, a shadow moved. It looked like some sort of creature on all fours. The shadow sniffed the ground, and its head jerked forward at the direction of the sudden sounds of panting. It was out hunting for food, but it looks like the food has found their way to it. The shadow quickly and carefully charged toward the sound.

Timmy was tired, he was so so tired. 'Has it been hours?' he thought. No, Timmy. It's only been 30 minutes… He didn't know how long he had been running, all he wanted was to reach the end of the path. But that was a long way from where he was.

The creature made its way to its target and hid behind a bush. It didn't make its move right away. Afterall, a good predator must stalk its prey and wait for the perfect moment to strike.

'I'm so tired… But, I have to keep going! I've gotta prove myself!' Timmy thought.

PANT PANT PANT

He continued to run.

Soon, the creature made a mistake.

SNAP

Twigs of branches snapped under its paws as it stalked its prey.

Timmy heard it and turned his head in its direction. He couldn't see very well. It was dark. However, he saw something move. A sense of danger struck Timmy like a lightning bolt. He turned back and picked up his pace. He was scared, really scared.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

'Oh, Timmy. Calm down, it was nothing... Right? Let's keep on running! That was nothing!' such thoughts repeated in his head.

PANT PANT PANT

After about another mile, he thought, 'I definitely saw something move… '

Back at the house.

Danny was upstairs flipping through the pages of the little book. He didn't know how to read, but he felt a sense of familiarity with the words, the symbols, and the pages.

Nadya passed by to ask him, "Have dirty clothes? I'm doing laundry."

Danny didn't hear her, he was so engrossed in the book that he couldn't read. Nadya noticed, so she approached him and tapped him on the shoulder. For a split second, she saw Danny's eyes glow bright white before turning back to normal. It startled her. Danny turned his head and was confused by her approach.

"Hello, sister Nadya!" he said.

"Hi there, Danny. What were you doing?" Nadya asked.

"Oh, I was trying to read this book that Alastor gave to my brother and me."

"Is that so? Can you read?"

Danny's face turned glum and slowly shook his head.

"Would you like to learn?"

His head turned in her direction super fast, and his eyes shone with excitement as he kept nodding.

Nadya giggled and sat down to teach him how to read.

Felicity was still in the front yard of the house, laying on one of the "training tools."

SNORE SNORE SNORE

She was soundly asleep. How long has she been asleep though? Maybe she has been since Timmy left, who knows. A moment later though, her eyes suddenly popped open, and she woke up as if she had an epiphany.

"Huh?!" she got up and looked to her left and then to her right. She confirmed no one was around and remembered that Timmy had gone on his training.

Then with her thumb and index finger shaping into an "L" resting under her chin, she smirked. Felicity thought of something amusing.

She swiftly jumped off the boulder and landed on both her feet. The way she landed was actually the notorious superhero landing pose. Lame… Anyways, she then strangely got on all fours, and her lips started moving. She was chanting a spell. At the end of her chant, glows of blue hue came from her body, it was mana. The glow gradually became brighter and brighter, and her body started to change: All of her bones cracked, her torso and limbs collapsed. She was undergoing what looked like a painful transformation, where all of her bones broke and reformed itself. But this was nothing to her, she was a seasoned warrior that served under the great Satan. She had gone through many battles, wars, and much worse pains than this. Soon, her limbs became longer, fingers became claws, and palms became paws. Her once human legs twisted and turned to become the hind legs of an animal. Silver colored fur grew out of every inch of her skin. Her nose and mouth protruded outward, turning into the face of a canine. Even her ears slid atop of her head and slowly shaped itself into wolf-like ears. That's right, her humanoid body had transformed into the body of an animal, more specifically a silver-furred wolf.

The transformation completed. She stretched he front legs forward with her body back, like any wolf does. Then, she shook her entire body in a rotation before yawning.

Moments later, she trotted toward the makeshift path. After a few steps, she gradually gained more speed. She ran on all fours, faster and faster.
