The woman had finished reading both the script for Agana’s speech and their story, and also testing Agana themself to see the things they could do.
“I didn’t expect you to write a story about 2 people sleeping in the same bed and waking up in each other’s arms, or your speech to be about equal rights. But you are quite the writer.”
”Well, in my old world, people didn’t really have equal rights, and I wrote about that because it’s what I’m used to writing about.”
”Well it’s not bad, I just wasn’t expecting that. But the good news is, you have passed the test."
"What is the test even for?"
"To see if you are worthy of staying here. I don't enjoy babying people, so I test them to see if they can take care of themselves."
Agana felt a heavy weight lifted off of their shoulders, knowing that they weren't going to die here.
"Some of the robots will escort you to your room."
Suddenly some of the robots appeared and made a little force field around them so that 2 of them, and Agana couldn't escape or run off to a different path.
While they were walking, Agana admired the view of the inside of the mansion. The force field was a tinted blue and some purple spots so that was the only thing adding onto the decorations and walls.
It was a beautiful sight. There were tons of blue and purple lights and robots roaming the place, which was expensive and futuristic looking. Agana saw tons of rooms and doors that would lead to who knows where.
There was a floating bed nicely made with a blue strip light under its border that was inside a large canopied pod, the nightstand next to it had a giant remote with buttons for almost everything, and a lava lamp for decoration. It was simple for the robots that lived there, but Agana had never seen something like it before.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
“You are allowed to do whatever you want here.” One of the robots said.
“It's your room, after all.” the other one said.
“Thank you, though.” Agana said to them.
Once they had left, Agana jumped on the bed. It looked and felt soft, and they felt tired in it, and wanted to just fall asleep and act like nothing was wrong.
Suddenly a black orb appeared in the middle of the room. It slowly started expanding and changing shape, soon taking the shape of a young child. The child was a black silhouette with matching smoke around it, with two red spots for eyes.
Agana didn't know what it was or what it was doing. When it spoke, nothing moved and the voice was inside their head.
Suddenly the door opened and the figure was gone. The door revealed the woman standing there.
“You look scared, darling. Is everything alright?” She said, walking towards Agana
“Yes, everything’s fine. Is there anything you need to tell me?”
“You have amazing skill in yourself. You have the qualities to marry me.”
“W-what?”
“Of course, if you don't want to, that's fine. But you have better qualities than my past spouses.” she took a few steps closer to Agana, putting her pointer and middle finger underneath their chin so they would look at her.
Agana felt their face turn hot and said, “I-I'm not sure. I feel like I don't know you well enough. I don't even know your name.”
The woman took her hand away from their chin. “I see you have a point. I don't know you or your name, either.”
“My name is Agana Isuel.”
“Beautiful name. Mine is Smythe Klein.”
“Yours is beautiful too.”
“You should spend a few days here to see if you will take the offer. It was quite stupid of me to ask you that when youve been in here for less than 12 hours”
“It's fine, and I'm kind of considering the offer already.”
“I know it's because you think I'm beautiful. I'm used to it already, and I know I sound narcissistic right now.”
“No, that's also fine. Also, if you want to marry me, will you let me sleep? I'm really tired.”
“Of course you can. It's quite late, anyways.”
“Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.” Smythe then left the room.
Agana couldn't sleep despite how soft and warm the bed was.
Because they thought they could see the smoking black figure of the child across the room once again, staring at them.
