Plot so far:

Brandon wakes up hungry, barely stops from eating his little sister. Kills someone as the sun takes him, foiling a vampire plot to kill the emperors family. Gets rewarded and turned into the only sanguimancer. Thrown out by his family, he heads off to join the Legion. As his status is revealed, he gets help from some important senators and training from an old vampire with a geas from the last sanguimancer. His talents let him avoid an assassination attempt, but the political family behind it managed to get one of their own placed as his commander. To boost his chances, the vampire gives Brandon his legacy, dying in the process. Training complete, the cohort is shipped off to Sekigahara to stop a battle between two Blood Dukes. If one manages to consume the power of the other, they will rise to the highest echelon of vampire power, A Sanguine Emperor. Brandon makes friends with the hunters by teaching them aura control, while Paul is proving adept at scouting. Clavis volunteers the cohort to build the forward base for the upcoming conflict.
