Sam had decided that they would go to look for a Mech to begin modifying and explore the citie's various shops. They had plenty of credits from the competition to spend. With a heavy bag of cash (not really virtual currency and all that) Sam was excited with what they would buy or later sell.
So off Sam went, taking turns left and right until they reached the market! Bright vibrant lights and neon signs for food and resources, the bustling market was full with people. People shouting their wares and the smell of food wafting through the air brought a rumble to Sam's stomach.
That reminds me, I'm pretty hungry!
Sam walked up to a skewer stand and bought a couple, taking bites as they walked along the street.
Mmm this is really good!
Sam stared at the skewers in delight, relishing the taste.
Ding! New Skill - Inspect - was acquired.
Hmm?!
Sam got startled by the notification and nearly choked on their food.
Nice one! Not the choking part, but you got a new skill! I figured you would get that one sooner or later.
*Coughcough* Ugh...Oh good I was needing that skill for future projects, but that was a surprise.
Suddenly Sam heard a voice in the distance a little louder than the bustle on the street.
PARTS! Git yer parts here! Advanced parts used in Mech warfare 20 credits a pound!
Sam had a funny look on their face hearing that. Why was the man selling parts like a butcher? The other shopkeeps were looking at the man with disdain, but Sam didn't notice and went to check things out with him.
Walking over Sam stopped in front of the man and started looking through the parts. Clearly the man got the parts from somewhere as there were a lot of broken and missing pieces in the mix of materials, some with burn marks and holes in them.
Hey what part of these parts are advanced?
Eh? Kid, all of them are taken from the Mech battlefield from genuine masters I'd say myself.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
But most of the parts are beaten up or broken beyond repair, are you a scammer?
The mans face flushed an angry red.
No! I ain't some disgusting scammer, I am a technician! I can tell that these parts are top of the line! Kid, don't be stupid and talk about things you dont understand. Now go away if you don't plan to buy anything.
The man look visably angry and Sam felt a little bad for calling him a scammer, maybe he was just really bad at examining parts.
Hey Um Sir? I'm really sorry for calling you a scammer, just the parts dont really look to be functional... but can I get those?
Sam pointed to a pair of conected boots and grabbed a couple of batteries and capacitors.
Eh those? Go ahead, but the price if the same. Those boots are about 50 credits.
The man was still grumpy but Sam felt glad about apologizing regardless.
Uh huh! Thank you mister! Do you know of any good Mech stores around here?
Oh yeah.
He sounded bitter.
My brother owns a store right around the corner, hired a genius mechanic from way back and now has such a bustling empire. (Mumble) stole some of my idea's too... (Normal voice) But I can sell ya one at half the price he can! what are ya lookin for?
Oh well I'm looking for a beginner model one thats easily modifiable.
Eh? Kid, your going to have to have an license to buy one of those.
I got one.
You do?! those are ridiculously hard to obtain! How'd you get it, you didnt steal it did you?
The scammer (Ahem) shopkeep seemed to ask Sam a million questions, before Sam stopped him and answered the important ones.
I didn't steal it, or find it somewhere, I got it through a compitition. Now can you show me the mech's?
Sure sure!
The shopkeep's treatment of Sam had done a total 180. Suddenly he was extremly becoming to Sam, submissive even.
We've got three beginner mechs here. A Heavy, Medium, and Lightweight builds.
The Heavyweight is stronger but a lot bulkier with more power to accomadate for its large size. Used mainly as a tank for heavy guns and explosive damage. But the problem with the heavyweight ones is it can be a bit slugish and bulky at times which can be detrimental in battle.
The Lightweight Model is a lot lighter, known for its quick reaction times and fast speed. Considered one of the best for mele type fighters as it can wield swords and othe cold weapons with relative speed. Though the lightweight model cannot handle super heavy weapons such as most guns and armors, its a relatively weak model.
The medium is right in the middle and is favoured by most technicians for its manuverability and modest speeds. it is right in the middle and apreciated for its adaptability, able to hold some guns and certain Melee weapons, but the biggest downside to the model is it cannot be as strong as the Heavyweight nor as fast as the Lightweight even if pushed to its limits.
Which one do you want?
