There's no problem descending the stairs. It is the middle of the night and I don't think there's many people that are awake right now.
The maid tried to run down the stairs and escape from but a quick smack in the head with my dagger's butt put that to rest. The left side of her face is covered in blood. It looks worse then it is since there's no more blood flow.
My guess was right. The dungeons are located on the basement floor. A heavy oak door bars my path.
I sit her down and place a finger on my face. I whisper in her ears, "If you make any sounds I'll kill you." I'm repeating it to her but she is quiet stubborn. I see it in her eyes.
I got details about the dungeon from her up in Ryland's room. There's just one person guarding the prison at night.
He doesn't seem to be that strong, at least according to her. I think she might be lying on that account. There has to be someone on Ake's level. They did incarcerate him after all.
I knock on the door. The sounds comes out louder then I thought and I cringe. There is some grumbling and the door is pulled open. Its a fat man about my height. He has a bottle of booze in his hands. He's more than tipsy. A quick peek behind his fat frame reveals cells with metallic bars. I'm at the right place.
"What do you want, boy?" I shove my dagger straight into his belly and pull up. I feel my back crash against a wall. The air rushes out of me. He grabbed my arms and bum-rushed me.
All I can feel are his fists raining down at me. I put one of my arms up and pull out the dagger. This time I stab him on his inner thigh. That just send him into a rage.
He picks me up and slams me into the ground. He grabs my face and smacks it into the wall. My ears are ringing now and I'm seeing everything in double vision.
I managed to pull out the dagger in his frenzy and I think the blood loss is getting to him. It's making him panic. He's sure that I'm down and turns around to leap up the stairs.

I grab his foot like a maniac and stab it into his calf. I don't just pull it out this time, I twist it. Again, I stab it into the back of his foots tendon. He's screaming and howling in pain now.
I need to finish this, I can't take on two people. He kicked me straight on my face and blood is gushing out of my nose, it might even be broken but I don't feel any pain.
I get up and get on top of him. A swift stab straight into his throat. That doesn't stop him. I pull the dagger out and a warm spray of blood crashes into my face.
It's much stickier and warmer then I'd expected. I regret my decision to come down here with the utmost fervor. I should've just left on my own. I would've survived somehow.
Fuck me and my heroism. I would smack myself in the head if I could. I'm not some hero in a novel. This is real life and my face is bleeding, my ears are ringing and I can't see straight.
What about the man under me? Does he have a family? A little kid waiting for his father to be back. I almost burst out in tears at the thought. What have I done!?
I hear shouts and screams from above me and something rushes past me. It's the elven maid, she's shouting and screaming in fear. I don't think I did her any favors.
Survival! That's the only thing on my mind now. I grab the keys from the warden's belt and rush into the cells. Ake and the other are holed up in the same cell, that would make things easier.
They gasp at my appearance. I wonder what they're thinking about me. I shove in a key, doesn't work. My hands are trembling. I shove in another key, doesn't work.
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Why the fuck won't it open!? I want to scream and shout. I bang at the cell's metallic bars. I try another key. This one opens up. I open the door and there they are.
They rush at me and I'm enveloped in a hug. I don't why but it just gives me a moment of peace. I did a good deed. That was a good deed.
Ake doesn't seem to be too beat up but I can't keep this together anymore. There's other inmates in the cells and they're shouting at us to let them go as well.
"Let them go too. They'll be a good distraction!" My consciousness blurs out and I faint.

Ake picked up his companion and hoisted him on his shoulder. "We have to get out of here!" His first thought is to abandon everything and just run away.
"Wait!" Shera pulled him back and grabbed the keys. She started opening the locks and let out another ten or so prisoners.
They're elated at their chance and rush out of the cell. Shera grabbed Ake's hand and held him back.
"Let them go first." She whispered into his ears. Once they're out of the room and rushing up the stairs they start running behind them.
Screams and shouts of battle are starting up already. Ake handed over their companion's body to Moon and moved ahead of the group. He was the strongest one out of them. and it just makes sense for him to be the vanguard.
Kogo just equipped herself with the new dagger the boy had stolen from Ryland's room.
