Prologue: My Death

Prologue: My Death

Do I hate my life? No...I can't say I do. While I say that, I still don't enjoy it. This world is boring. Everyone lives similar lives where they grow up in a system that forces you to conform to a generally accepted ideal person.

Raised by a single mother along with my 4 other siblings, I came to realize this sooner than most. I lost my childish innocence very early on, probably around the age of 7-8. It wasn't a sudden change, but gradual. I became an analytical thinker, using mainly logic to make decisions. Now don't go thinking that I became a robot. I still laughed and smiled...occasionally, and I was still influenced by my emotions.

I was pretty smart when I was younger, even called a genius by some. But as I got into high school I became lazy. Life just wasn't fun nor interesting anymore. Games got boring, book series finished, anime ended. I was pretty much apathetic at this point, barely caring about many things, even my own life which is probably how I ended up like this.

'Ah that was a good chapter.'I thought as I walked down the street towards the public bus stop. School had just ended, and I was walking my usual route.

Looking around I saw a few other students walking in the same direction as they headed home. I sighed as I saw several girls on the other side of the street.

I thought it would be nice if I had a beautiful friend that I could walk home with, like all the protagonist in the anime do. Sadly, all I have is an annoying family and a boring life.

All my mother does is talk about me to everyone else in the family. About how I'm depressed all the time, how I hate her, how I don't speak to anyone else in the house, or some other random BS. None of those things are true. I just developed an apathetic attitude towards my life. I don't Man of Steel - VER. 1.0.21~24 [Unlimited Money] love my family. If they died, I wouldn't feel sad, just uncomfortable because of the change I would have in my lifestyle. Heck, I don't care if I die or not, but I won't commit suicide because that would be a complete waste of my life. I would rather spend my life saving someone else.

Lost in my thoughts, I continued down the sidewalk while approaching the intersection. When the walk sign appeared, I began to cross the street and I saw 7 extremely beautiful girls around my age crossing from the other side.

I focused my attention on the leading girl. She had long, waist length golden hair and emerald green eyes that shined with an innate luminescence. I was staring at her because she was one of the prettiest girls I have ever seen.

As we neared each other, a blaring horn shook me from my stupor. I witnessed an extremely cliche event. An 18 - wheeler carrying bundles of steel pipes was swerving down the road, headed straight towards the girl in front.

Instantly I slipped out from my backpack and ran towards the blonde girl. I barely managed to push her out of the way before the vehicle slammed into me, sending my flying diagonally away from it. The truck turned as it braked, eventually flipping over in the middle of the intersection.

I could feel my vision slipping in and out as darkness crowded the edges of my vision. Through dim eyes I could see the 7 girls all rush over to me. Strangely they were rather calm, although their faces held worried and regretful expressions. I was about to speak to them when, out of the corner of my rapidly deteriorating vision, I noticed that the truck had caught on fire.

The flames swiftly began to devour the truck, quickly reaching the engine and gas tank, before exploding into a large shower of glass and metal shrapnel. Although the explosion itself didn't affect us, all of the steel pipes that had previously been strapped onto the truck had been launched towards us by the explosion.

I tried to warn the girls, but all I could make were grunts and moans as the pain in my body increased. Fighting through the pain, I somehow managed to push myself up onto my right leg and staggered towards the girls. I barely managed to throw them to the ground as the rain of hot steel missiles arrived at our location. Stretching out my arms, I used my own body to protect them as best as I could. Suddenly, I felt small stabs of pain, like ant bites throughout my entire body.

1...2...3...5...8...12 small burst of pain joined the intense pain already present in my body.

Looking down I saw 12 steel pipes impaling my body. They riddle my torso and legs with holes as the hot steel burns my flesh. Coughing up blood, I managed to spit out what would be probably be my last words with a small smirk on my face.

"Are you girls okay?"

When the last word escaped my mouth, I could no longer support myself as all strength left my ravaged body. My vision went black and I was dead before I hit the ground.

Strangely enough, I died extremely happy. This is because of the 5 blue boxes that appeared as I died.
