Second day of the tutorial and we finally got to encounter a new type of monster. Our starving belly since yesterday is now gone. Luckily, we finally got to taste the savory fruit this world can offer. A fruit the figure of a banana was dangling on a branch of a huge wooden tree unlike the herbal tree structure we have back on Earth. We were able to spot a small river down below we spotted on top of a cliff a few minutes after we continued our way back from the camp.
Emily's Divine Eyes was such a cheat code. It can identify not only the edible plants, but also the purity of the water and when she said it was safe to drink it, we quenched each of our own thirst. But Evan urged us to start moving right after.
"We better get moving soon and start hunting again."
"We need a better hunting ground. Have you noticed the goblins we recently faced? Most of them have at least five members now compared to the isolated ones yesterday. Maybe there's a village nearby."
Our actions were getting bolder lately. We definitely improved our fighting capabilities that we even managed to take down an orc we saw when it was bullying a goblin group. Their strength was significantly higher than goblins but it's still nothing compared to our combined firepower.
I, alone, can go toe to toe with an orc.
"Then let's get moving. The early bird gets the worm they say."
With Evan's word, we trudged through the sword ferns beneath us. Traversing the forest for a few kilometers more, we got into another skirmish with a group of goblins. Seven of them were visible but there could be more hiding nearby. I wanted to exploit this encounter so I told the twins my plan.
"Let's kill them but leave one behind."
"You want to let the escapee lead us to their village?"
"Quick as ever, Evan."
There were two archers from the goblin's side. Evan and I trusted Emily to deal with both of them while we block the attackers.
I said blocking but we're actually the ones at the aggressive side.
Evan threw his spear with downright force, piercing two goblins at once in the chest. "Too weak."
Holding the handle of my scythe with both hands, I swung to the direction of the three goblins trying to flank me on the side. My technique was sloppy, but the goblins were way worse with their attacks. I extended my arms and with a swift circular swing, "—Cut!" the three bodies flanking me all got sliced up into half.
"Emily, the two archers! But kill only one."
"Let one live. Yep, got yah."
She did not used her bow instead, she pointed her fingers like a figure of a toy gun directly to the archer goblin who had its arrow nocked already. Both of them released their arrows at the same time, a metal arrow against the faster magic arrow. The problem was there were two goblin archers who both fired their arrows. But as soon as she fired hers, she moved into another spot with nimble tumbling. As the arrows went past and nearly collided with each other, the magic arrow struck the goblin's head while the two metallic arrows swooped and hit nothing but the ground.
Seeing its only ally thudding to the ground, the goblin panic and as planned, it ran off with a screech.
"Follow it!"
The three of us stalked our prey with patience, to lead us into a more rewarding kill. The goblin did not stop running nor tried to check its rear. It was focused on escaping without realizing our goal.
After awhile, we spotted the open area from afar. The high watch towers were hard to miss and the broad wooden roof of their hut were decorated with bones and skulls of different creatures.
The escapee met the three guards in front of their gate and frantically conversed with them, gesturing its hand to explain, while we hid behind the thick foliage, avoiding their scouting gaze every here and then. It was alarming the other goblins about our presence.

Goblin language.
I couldn't understand what they're saying but the guards nodded with the escapee's words. It seems they believed its story. Evan started to question whether it's wise to deal a blow straightaway. He whispered under his nose, just enough for us to hear.
"What do we do now? It seems like they just got warned. They know we're coming."
"We'll strike now."
"What? It's better to strike at dawn when most of them are asleep."
"Right now it's only those three who knows. If we attack now, they'll be all taken by surprise. And."
I let my words linger for a second and Evan urged me further what was I about to tell.
"And what?"
"Don't you think it's kinda boring to kill sleeping goblins?"
Emily chuckled, forcing air to come out of her nose. Evan grinned and gripped his spear tighter.
"Quickly what's the plan."
"Nothing particular. We confront them as usual. Emily will have our backs. If they move, they die."
They both nodded. We've done this plenty of times already when dealing with random group of monsters. Only now it is a village of monsters. Goblins at that.
The guards started running off to other guards to break the news.
"Now!"
We bolted from our position. Evan and I got into the gate fast the goblins almost stumbled from their grounds.
Two arrows swooped at our direction but we parried it using our weapon.
The watch towers on both sides were filled with three goblins. Simultaneously, they fired their arrows.
"Blink—"
With lightning speed, I got on top of the tower alongside the goblins frightened by my sudden appearance.
I swung my scythe. Their flesh was a lot softer now compared to the first time I killed one of their own kin.
I'm getting stronger that's why.
Magic arrows met the fate of the other goblins inside the other tower opposite to where I am.
The goblins at the gate had their bodies stabbed by Evan's spear.
By now, the residents of the village had been alarmed by our invasion and more guards are piling up to our section.
Other goblins, who weren't a combatant, entered and hid inside the chief's hut which was evidently bigger than most of the huts built in this village.
"Let's cut em' up, Jin!"
"You bet."
Jumping down from the tower, my legs pushed itself right after its contact from the ground.
Goblins swarmed my side but not a hint of worry can be seen on my face. Arrows from the side, I swatted it off with my left hand. With a weak body of a goblin firing an arrow, the speed of it could hardly successfully hit somebody.
But they'd be annoying if I continue to let them do what they want.
Using blink again I got near to their position so with the use of my scythe I cut each of their bodies with normal swings.
On the other party, the goblins could not approach Evan with his long spear as well as Emily's support from the rear.
"Magic arrows!"
Goblins who were hit on their sides shrieked with pain. Evan himself was enjoying the bunch of experience he's gaining.
"Make way! Spear throw!"
The battle went on for almost an hour. It wasn't really a battle but only a one sided massacre from our side. Blood painted the facade of each hut in the village, draping everything in dark patches of crimson hue. The only hut untouched left is the one sitting in the middle, the chief's hut where the goblin residents had entered after knowing the presence of their killers.
I checked what's inside by destroying its door. As soon as the interior got exposed, I saw horrified faces not just from goblins with the size of an adult, but also the ones who are still on a sling carrier. A goblin with a sash made from a hide of an animal is in the middle of the group, holding a normal-looking wooden staff.
It must be their chief. Are there no goblin king or something barbaric on a goblin village?
It was a random question, but my ass had played a fair share of RPGs back in the old world so the absence of a strong individual from a group was very unusual for me.
I sighed but my mind already accepted this type of situations.
"The tutorial will serve its purpose as my stepping stone. And my morals will adjust from what is being laid in front of me."
My hands found the long shaft of my scythe, clutching it firmly as my legs started to move forward.
"Are you going to do it?", the sudden question halted my steps. I recognized the voice coming from behind me was Emily's. As I glanced back she clutched her arms, expressing a worry in her face. Disturbed by the idea of killing children, despite it being a goblin race.
"You don't have to watch me do it. We've come this far already. Why not a few more?" I returned my killing intend into the helpless goblins in front of me. Their shaky legs tried to find a way to escape my weapon as they all collapsed further at the back corner of the hut.
In broad daylight, screams of agony filled not just the hut, but the entire village.
