Five hours. Five hours straight of diligent work to end up with a sword, that is apparently an average piece of workmanship. To his untrained eye, it seemed to be one of the best swords he’s made so far! But more importantly in his mind, the fact that the blue screen popped up in the first place! He looked at the window for a second, unbelieving. He pinched himself, however he still felt pain…
He rubbed his eyes, and upon still seeing it, rubbed them again. For whatever reason he saw a floating blue screen. He peered around himself, truly looking for the first time in several hours. It was about that time that he saw the other windows that had stacked up in the last several hours, seemingly explaining the situation.

With those mysterious messages out of his field of vision, he was free to look around his makeshift forge. When he focused on anything he received a message alerting of it’s name, and in the case of his various pieces of created armor and weaponry, the quality, stats, and durability of said piece. All of his pieces were steel, mostly at an average quality of 4, slightly below average according to the blue screens.
His situation made him think of the plethora of books and stories he’d read about this kind of thing happening in his youth. Deciding to go along with the flow, he said “Help.” A blue screen popped up explaining the entirety of the user interface to him. To sum it up, he could look at his ‘Status Screen’ to observe pieces of information like his level, stats, skills, race, and a variety of other items. “Status.” Scott said calmly, despite his internal giddiness.
One thing that immediately stood out to him was a model of himself. His hazel eyes were staring out into the distance. The model, like him, had short brown hair, a strong jaw and a cleft chin. He also noticed his usual layer of fat was absent. He seemed to be a few years younger, but for the most part accurate. He wondered if the changes were reflected on his own person, but decided to put that to the side for the moment.

As Scott absorbed the information displayed on his status, his mood fluctuated drastically. He was excited about the possibilities of his stats, but also rather peeved by the abysmal luck stat. His other stats reflected his character rather closely. He wasn’t a leader and rather clumsy at times. He checked up at the help window, and found out the corresponding effects of each of the stats.
Strength increasing his melee damage, and carrying capacity, Agility affecting his movement speed for the most part. His dexterity, however had more to do with hand-eye coordination and general hand movements. Vitality affected his health points and health regeneration. Intellect affected general smarts, mana pool, and magical damage, along with affecting how he perceived combat. With higher intellect, he could gather more small details leading to the ability to exploit weaknesses. Wisdom affected his mana regeneration along with his ability to remember and to learn new things. Charisma had to do with his interactions with others, allowing him certain perks like being a natural leader, and getting better prices at merchants. Luck was obvious.

It seemed that his skills reflected his real world skills. His blacksmithing skill came from his hobby, and he guessed his swordsmanship skill reflected his years of HEMA practice during his teens.
He may, or may not have been a slight nerd during his youth. The other skills, however, were a surprise to him. They both had to do with runes, so he guessed it had to do with him taking a Medieval Studies classes that had brushed up on the Runic Alphabet. He knew Elder Futhark most intimately. He was curious about the {Ready to Assimilate} part. He slowly pressed on the option in the menu, and as he pressed it he felt a searing pain stab into his cerebrum. He collapsed to the floor in pain.
