A guard swiftly pulled a lever, causing the bars of the cell to block the jetty's water flow. Above the harbor fort, the Admiral stood with his fleet at the ready as they prepared the cannons and firearms. Demolitionists geared up with rifles, Nightblades equipped themselves with crossbows, and Occultists held fire spells in their hands. The lighthouse radar detected a colossal shadow crossing the ocean: a sea monster of unprecedented size.
"What kind of creature is that?!" exclaimed a sailor, pointing toward the emerging figure.
"It's the Sea God, Kraken! Everyone, prepare to fire!" ordered the Admiral.
"Ready, Admiral!" responded the navy in unison.
Emerging from the depths of the sea, two immense eyes appeared, followed by fins extending backward. It was a massive squid-like monster with long tentacles adorned with deadly spines capable of reaching the sky and engulfing passing ships. The creature's body connected to its mouth, surrounded by a ring of tentacles. From atop the fort, it was evident that the Kraken was raging in the ocean without cause. The monster twirled its tentacles, repeatedly submerging and resurfacing, drawing closer to the harbor.
"Be cautious! That creature has been known to sweep away tropical islands!"
Not only the Admiral, but all who laid eyes upon the scene felt something was amiss. The Kraken seemed to be engaged in a battle of its own, though they doubted their own eyesight. And then, their fears were confirmed as the Sea God approached. The Admiral ordered his entire army to commence firing in a countdown. Dozens of cannons unleashed their fury, exploding against the Kraken's impenetrable shell. Yet, there was no visible damage inflicted upon the creature.
One of the tentacles reached the harbor, sweeping away the navy frantically firing cannons before plunging them into the depths of the ocean. The Kraken smashed into the lower defense tower and the curtain wall, causing tremors akin to an earthquake and throwing people off balance. The seawater surged into the city like a tsunami, swallowing the lower levels of towering buildings. Panic ensued among the populace.
"Admiral Gato! Our gun turrets have no effect on the creature! The monster is also smart enough to destroy our castle turret first! What should we do?!"
"Modify the ammunition. We must prioritize preventing this harbor from collapsing! It is a crucial transportation hub to the outer continent! Three factions, launch a coordinated attack simultaneously, once every thousand years!" commanded Admiral Gato, pointing his spear at the creature's menacing tentacles.
The Demolitionist faction, led by Giltianos and Mesaac, unleashed a barrage of gunfire from dozens of rifles and hundreds of pistols. The Nightblade faction, commanded by Raidou and Isolde, showered the creature with a barrage of arrows from their crossbows. The Occultist faction, led by Margaretha, along with Zel and Eda, hurled fireballs like mortars. Some Occultists even wielded other forms of magic, such as lightning and ice.
The Admiral explained that this attack occurred only once every millennium, marking the first time the three factions had united in perfect harmony. However, despite their valiant efforts, their attacks failed to penetrate the tough skin of the monster's tentacles or breach the impenetrable shell that encased the Kraken's body.
"No, ordinary magic is ineffective against this creature!" exclaimed Zel.
"Zel, Eda! I will unleash my most powerful magic. Take care of yourselves!" declared Margaret.
"Very well, madam!" replied Eda.
Lady Margaret, the esteemed top Occultist, focused her concentration. Her aura surged, and her body became cloaked in the soft light of a carnation. She cast a protective spell around herself, taking a decisive step forward. Firmly gripping her wand, streaks of fire danced and extended from her arms to the tip of the wand.
The Kraken thrashed violently, spinning in agony as if wounded from within. Its thunderous roars tore through the pier, hurtling ships and disrupting the serene flow of the sea. The waves grew ferocious, tossing the bell tower about as if it were a mere plaything. The Admiral's voice was engulfed by the roaring tempest, drowned out by the boisterous waves. People covered their ears in an attempt to shield themselves from the ear-splitting cacophony. Many fell unconscious under the overwhelming roar.
The navy, paralyzed by their helplessness, quivered with fear. Admiral Gato had never anticipated that the harbor, which had stood resolute for millennia, enduring Chthon's assault and the explosion of the Kaliyuga Scepter, could be so easily decimated by the Kraken, a perilous S-level creature. Just as despair loomed, a group of reinforcements led by a prominent Demolitionist arrived to lend their aid.
"It's Vergan Sherith! Boss Vergan is here!"
"That monster is making such a racket! I never expected the harbor to be in such dire straits!" exclaimed Vergan, a high-ranking Demolitionist and one of the rare Nephilim beings.
"Boss Vergan! It's too dangerous here! You must retreat immediately!"
"Silence! Do you know who you're talking to, huh?!"
One of the tentacle shadows targeted the frontline of the Demolitionist troops. They swiftly dodged out of harm's way, leaving boss Vergan alone. "Metamorphosis..." he muttered.
Vergan's body became consumed by his own black flames, his eyes glowed with a vivid blue hue, and his pupils turned pitch black. A sinister smile crept across his face as he transformed into a blue demon. He planted his feet firmly on the ground, gripping the giant tentacles with his hands. Despite his immense strength, the impact still pushed him backward. Once the friction on his feet ceased, the demon relentlessly clawed at the Kraken's tough hide until it tore and bled.
The monster let out another piercing scream, and a tentacle struck Vergan from the side, hurling him far away. As he landed, Vergan bellowed in annoyance at his subordinates, "Where are Giltianos and Mesaac?! I need their assistance!"
"The two of them are engaged in a fierce battle with one of the tentacles over there!"
"Our enemies aren't just the tentacles, you fool. Look above!"
As the sky stretched far and wide, an immense wyvern descended upon the harbor, drawn by the Kraken's anguished cries. Fireballs erupted from the wyvern's gaping maw, engulfing the harbor buildings in searing flames. The wyvern had allied with fellow monsters, launching an assault on the human populace.
The Demolitionists' rifle fire proved futile against the swift-flying wyvern, and the Nightblades' arrows and the Occultists' fireballs repeatedly missed their elusive target. The atmosphere grew increasingly frenzied and chaotic as time wore on.
"Mesaac, give me the grenade!" cried out Giltianos, thrusting his spear into one of the Kraken's tentacles.
"Here you go!" Mesaac responded, tossing a grenade after successfully striking the tentacle with her axe.
Giltianos caught the grenade while leaping onto the spear he had lodged into the tentacle. With a swift motion, he hurled the exploding grenade directly at the Kraken's face. The resulting blast temporarily blinded the enraged monster, causing it to thrash about aimlessly. Giltianos and Mesaac, positioned on the front lines, were flung into the sea by the flailing tentacles, leaving the Demolitionists overwhelmed amidst the devastating chaos.
"Watch out! The Sea God is going berserk!" warned a voice.
Raidou launched a series of explosive shurikens that punctured the thick skin of the tentacles, detonating upon impact. Isolde, on the other hand, unleashed a barrage of ice arrows, targeting the cephalopod's vulnerable appendages. However, their combined efforts proved ineffective in immobilizing or freezing the relentless tentacles.
Determined to avoid the same fate as their overwhelmed Demolitionist allies, the Nightblade troops, armed with an array of innovative tactics, revealed their secret scrolls containing diverse elemental techniques. They showcased the versatility of their combat style, refusing to rely solely on attrition through sheer numbers.
Isolde commanded her troops, "Exert all your strength! The Sea God poses a high-level threat to Malazen!"
"Let's strike it with the lightning!" shouted Raidou, unrolling a scroll emanating electric energy, followed by the others.
The Nightblades extended their hands and weapons, crackling with elemental lightning, toward the monstrous creature. The electric energy surged through the water, delivering a powerful shock to the Kraken's body. Its numerous tentacles convulsed in agony and stiffened. The Kraken's gaping maw opened wide as if begging for mercy, while tormented by the intense voltage coursing through its razor-sharp teeth.
A flickering flash of light cascaded across the harbor, scorching the Kraken's trembling form. Sensing that the creature's movement had momentarily halted, the Nightblades seized the opportunity for a close-range assault. However, Isolde abruptly intervened, raising objections to their plan.

Isolde's gaze shifted toward Margaretha, whose body floated within a blazing morganite aura. A dozen Occultists stood behind her, channeling their mana to empower their priestess. The light at the tip of Margaretha's wand grew, forming a radiant fireball as she cast a high-level spell.
"Get out of here! We'll entrust the rest to the Occultists!" Isolde declared, giving the signal to retreat.
The Nightblade faction made a strategic decision to retreat, realizing that their surprise attack had caught the Kraken off guard. Their attention was captivated by a colossal and enigmatic circle adorned with green runes in the sky. Curiosity turned to alarm as a massive meteor materialized within the green circle, poised to descend. They immediately recognized it as Lady Margaretha's magic and urgently shouted to one another to flee.
"Arājakata Ulka! Extreme Magic, Chaos Meteor!" Margaretha chanted, her staff emitting a fireball that shimmered under the sunlight. The intense heat imbued the colossal meteor with the explosive power of fire.
The scorching meteor hurtled toward the monster, blazing with incandescent radiance. The harbor was swiftly abandoned as the mesmerizing light of the meteor dazzled all who beheld it. The surroundings were bathed in a brilliance akin to the relentless shine of the sun upon the earth. The air grew oppressively hot, causing the seawater to boil, and the Kraken's skin took on a fiery shade of red. With tremendous force, the massive meteor collided with the Kraken, obliterating the dock and everything in its path.
*
After a while, the torrential flood subsided, and a gust of wind swept through the dissipating smoke, revealing the wreckage that remained of the harbor. Debris and goods were scattered everywhere, particularly in the trading area where abandoned shops lay in ruins. The receding tide retreated back into the sea, and Admiral Gato grumbled angrily at Lady Margaret from atop the crumbling tower, "You witch! Did you intend to obliterate this harbor?"
"Mind your tongue, Admiral," retorted Margaret. "If it weren't for me, this harbor would have been completely destroyed. Be thankful that only part of it..."
"Admiral, look over there!" interrupted a member of the navy, pointing toward the sea.
Emerging from the wreckage, tentacles rose one by one, while the Kraken's impenetrable shell stood firm, enduring the forceful collision of the meteor-sized impact. Despair gripped the navy, and they swiftly urged Admiral Gato to initiate a retreat. The Kraken unleashed a furious bellow, its roar echoing through the air, while the wyvern above responded with a thunderous cry, mirroring the creature's anguish and instilling terror in all who witnessed the spectacle.
"Oh no...this harbor will be annihilated," groaned the Admiral, sinking to the ground.
"No kidding..." Eda was at a loss for words; even Lady Margaret's magic seemed ineffective against the Kraken!
"Perhaps it is time for us to depart, madam?" suggested Zel to Margaret.
Meanwhile, Margaret's gaze remained fixed on the erratic behavior of the Kraken, which had suddenly become uncontrollable. ("Hmm... How peculiar...")
"Run, everyone, run!" commanded Isolde to the Nightblade troops.
The three factions and the navy hastily fled the crumbling harbor, witnessing its near-complete devastation. The frontline troops, still unaware of the danger, were flung into the air, swept away by the tentacles. The survivors understood the gravity of the situation and deemed it necessary to evacuate and regroup, strategizing for the next course of action. This marked the first time in their history that the formidable Tolwich Harbor had been razed to the ground by the ravages of the Sea God.
Outside the harbor, Giltianos and Mesaac assembled with the Demolitionist army, facing the brooding figure of Chief Vergan, who stood tallest among them. The shock of the situation lingered, and no one had anticipated such a turn of events. However, bad news only stoked the flames of Grom's fury.
Tensions escalated as Vergan tore up the alliance invitation from Admiral Gato, dismissing the notion of prioritizing the port. The Demolitionists knew better than to approach their leader about accepting the offer, as Vergan's arrogance was well-known. Even in the face of a tier-S monster wreaking cataclysmic havoc, Vergan remained reluctant to cooperate with other factions.
"Boss Vergan," Giltianos called out. "Regardless of what caused the Kraken to go berserk, it is clear that we must leave this place."
"What do you mean, leave this place?!" Vergan retorted angrily.
They trembled at the rage etched across Vergan's face. Giltianos and Mesaac fell into a tense silence, drenched in a cold sweat. Vergan, known for favoring a barbaric lifestyle over luxury, continued his fervent speech, "In the name of Ragnar Grom, we cannot allow the Kraken to seize control of the harbor! He will be enraged if creatures other than the Chthonians meddle in Malazen! To hell with the other factions! We will launch a counterattack right now, all of you!"
"Ready, Boss Vergan!" the Demolitionists replied in unison.
The resounding roar once again jolted them, signaling the Kraken's agonizing cry. Its thrashing tentacles blindly decimated the harbor, while its mouth, filled with razor-sharp teeth, expelled blood like a creature afflicted with pneumonia. Soon enough, the Sea God collapsed to the ground.
Perplexed, the three factions and the navy couldn't fathom what had transpired, what had caused the creature's suffering. Witnessing the peculiar scene, they rushed to the fallen Kraken amidst the wreckage. Admiral Gato questioned his subordinates, who could only respond with astonishment. Could it be that Lady Margaretha's magic had taken effect? Perhaps the meteor had successfully inflicted damage upon the Kraken's formidable shell. Although a mere hypothesis, they began to extol and marvel at the magical prowess of the sun priestess.
Meanwhile, Margaretha pondered silently, wondering what could have incited the Kraken's wrath, leading it to attack humans in the harbor. ("I knew something was amiss with that creature.")
Upon reaching the ruins of the wharf, Raidou, and the Nightblades, the first to arrive, examined the colossal lifeless body sprawled on the shore, towering like a hill. A chilling sensation coursed through their veins, akin to beholding an immense unidentified alien or a rare enigmatic being foreign to this world.
"Raidou! What have you discovered there?" inquired the Admiral.
"Aranvel Gato, there are no discernible signs on its body," replied Raidou. "No venomous markings or wounds of any kind! This Kraken perished on its own accord."
"Perished on its own? Are you jesting?!"
"My apologies, Admiral. Allow me to investigate further," Margaret offered.
The atmosphere grew tense as Vergan approached, blocking Margaret and standing before Raidou. The meeting of the three faction leaders intensified the unease. With a fierce expression, Vergan unleashed his words in a deep, booming voice, "Margaretha, Raidou! This harbor has turned into a red zone since its destruction! Leave that Kraken to the Demolitionists or face death!"
Raidou drew his sword, followed by his loyal subordinates. He retorted, challenging Vergan, "Vergan, I knew you would resort to violence!"
Isolde joined the confrontation, calling upon the Nightblades, "By Nightblade and Sigmund Luminar! We vow to wipe the Demolitionists from the annals of Malazen!"
Giltianos and his entire army rallied to Vergan's side, taunting the Nightblades, "Don't fret, Nightblade! You'll soon meet your leader!" He sneered, striking his spear against his shield in a provoking manner.
"Leave the Occultists to me," snarled Mesaac, gripping her axe tightly, ready to engage. "They are as foul as the faction next door!"
"Zel, Eda," Margaret called, signaling them for battle.
"Ready, Priestess!" Zel and Eda responded in unison.
Simultaneously, the Nightblades armed their special crossbows, the Occultists conjured fireballs in their hands, and the Demolitionists aimed their firearms. Admiral Gato's face glistened with sweat as he glanced around, his voice strained, "W-wait! All of you, cease this fighting! This is madness!"
In the tense silence, the slightest trigger pull could ignite an absolute bloodbath, leaving a mound of corpses in its wake. The situation had reached its peak, teetering on the edge of chaos. Just then, a figure emerged from the mouth of the Kraken, capturing everyone's attention.
Time seemed to freeze as all present stood like statues, their eyes fixed on the unexpected visitor. The Admiral's surprise turned to disbelief as he recognized the newcomer as one of the new cadets, identified by the number 564 on his badge. Margaretha, Zel, Eda, Raidou, Isolde, Vergan, Giltianos, and Mesaac were equally astonished by the sight of the cadet carrying Malkaya Sword.
"He's a madman! He survived inside the Kraken's belly!" exclaimed the marines, their voices filled with incredulity.
"How on earth did you end up in the Kraken's mouth? Hey!"
"Could he be that Mad Fenrius, perhaps?"
Admiral Gato gasped, his heart pounding. (“Could it be that this new cadet had defeated the Sea God?”)
Looking at the crowd before him, Fenrius, his body drenched in Kraken's blood, understood why the creature had been thrashing about. He felt a tinge of annoyance, realizing that if they hadn't been present, he might have finished off the creature's heart in less than ten minutes, without causing damage to its internal organs.
The piercing cry of a wyvern drew their attention to the sky. Another monster remained in the harbor, capturing the mad cadet's focus.
"Someone, please slay the wyvern or drive it away from here!" the Admiral pleaded desperately. "I'll give you anything, just do it!"
"It's futile, Admiral! None of the three factions' weapons—rifles, ranged magic, or crossbows—can seem to strike the wyvern!"
Fenrius seized the spear from Admiral Gato's hand, leaving the Admiral startled. "Hey! That's my prized spear!" he exclaimed.
Fenrius locked his gaze upon the wyvern as it soared through the sky, singling it out as his target. His grip on the spear tightened, and the sound of his muscles stretching echoed like a taut string vibrating with tension. The wyvern unleashed thunderous roars as it drew closer to their position. With a forceful stomp that cracked the ground beneath him, Fenrius propelled his spear high into the air, striking the wyvern's chest with unerring precision.
Turning away from the harbor, Fenrius embarked on his journey to Moriath, the wyvern's descent into the sea serving as a backdrop. A gentle breeze tousled his hair as he softly uttered, "I present this Kraken to the harbor...as my condolences."
All those in attendance were struck with awe as they heard his true voice and witnessed his first spoken words, in addition to his remarkable deeds. The boys gaped in astonishment, while the girls found themselves captivated by Fenrius' cold and indifferent countenance, like a millennia-old frozen lake devoid of any ripples. The Mad Cadet, Fenrius, had single-handedly defeated the Kraken and the wyvern!
"So, that's what they call...the worst generation," Vergan muttered under his breath.
"They're right, Fenrius is truly a madman!" Raidou remarked.
Margaret lost in her thoughts, couldn't help but think, ("No matter what, we must bring that man to our side!")
On that momentous day, the three factions finally understood why the current generation of cadets was so formidable. Among them stood Fenrius, an untouchable yet tangible figure reminiscent of ancient legends. Those who attempted to challenge him ended up being the ones robbed instead—the Demolitionists learned that the hard way. Nightblade suddenly exhibited the eloquence of an Occultist, while the Occultists acquired the speed and agility of the Nightblades. Everyone wanted nothing to do with Fenrius!
During his time at the academy, countless rumors circulated about the eccentric cadet. Yet, most dismissed them as exaggerated tales, lacking firsthand experience. Now, witnessing Fenrius's ability to effortlessly defeat S-tier creatures, they wholeheartedly believed in his prowess as a skilled combatant. They recognized him as the bringer of ruin, leaving destruction in his wake.
Since Fenrius was the one who vanquished the Sea God, Admiral Gato expressed his gratitude for the gift of the Kraken. With the cadet's help, Tolwich Harbor could be rebuilt into a thriving green zone. The three factions refrained from quarreling over the Kraken's remains, thanks to Fenrius. From this day forward, the threat of sea monsters attacking ships, sailors, and island life in the waters of Malazen was significantly reduced.
