The most distinctive common trait of Kahru’s mage engineers living in the Shadowy Mountains is their tendency to see themselves as “above” to everyone else. While their high altitude residence partly justifies this, their arrogance primarily stems from their advanced magical engineering skills.
Combining magic with engineering, they create machines for workplaces and toys for the little ones. The multi-cooking robot "Ergu-One," designed for brave chefs cooking in the world of monsters, was last year’s best-selling product.
After the "Wars of a Thousand Beasts," Kahru’s mage engineers moved to the Shadowy Mountains, announcing they would never produce weapons again, adopting a peaceful policy. However, rumors occasionally circulated that the cooking robot's “slice and mince” function was used for monster hunting, making it a dangerous weapon.
Vending machines, from which a thousand different fun toys emerged, were Kahru's favorites. He especially created these machines for his beloved daughter.
After the war, Kahru and his daughter were left alone. The archmage father, who once designed weapons capable of reducing giants to particles, now crafted chips with varying nutritional values and fun toys for his daughter, stocking them in the vending machine.
The brand they called "Kahru's Mysterious Chips" achieved great success, and over the years, "Kahru's Mage Engineers" became a successful firm with a giant team serving in various fields. Really, some giants who knew magic were also part of the team.
When Kahru’s daughter suddenly disappeared, everything turned upside down. Despite using all their lost-and-found spells, Kahru, couldn't find his beautiful daughter and the last thing he saw silver-like shimmering hair of her .
Driven to madness, Kahru devised a plan that would deeply impact Matt’s life.
Sitting on the giant sword "Gergadonn," Matt sighed while looking at the token in the Brave Hero Hayrayor’s hand.
"Why hasn't this mighty and seemingly powerful middle-aged hero left this world yet?"
"Why is he trading? Is he, like me, trapped in this world, or is he part of something here?"
"Where did he get that token? Does it have anything to do with that strange-hat man who give me those tokens at first?"
With a broad grin and noisy breathing, Matt felt that Hayrayor could be extremely dangerous if he wanted to be.
"He must definitely be of the barbarian warrior class," Matt thought.
Remembering his lost vending machine, Matt said, "Unfortunately, the vending machine fell out of the hole while I was inside the robot-like ship. It might have been crushed by the giant robot!"
Hayrayor: "HAH! That's impossible, kid! These are very sturdy magical machines, not easily broken, crushed, or scratched!"
Indeed, if you read a few chapters back, the vending machine had fallen on the head of the Giant Gorgucek monster, leading to Matt’s "first victory." Despite being embedded in the creature's brain, it didn’t have a single scratch.
"Moreover, the vending machine is not lost, kid! Hah!"
While Matt looked at Hayrayor in great astonishment, Fersah the bird started to open and close its wings, retching. "ORK! ORK!" and it spat out the object it had swallowed, landing at Matt’s feet.
Seeing the shrunken vending machine at his feet, Matt was very surprised. After cleaning off the fish bones and some other slimy things he didn’t want to identify, he pressed the button and watched it return to its original form.
Matt: "You found it! But how did you know the shrinking password?"
Hayrayor: "Everyone here knows such simple things, kid!
"The cursed machines' code,
When Kahru lost his girl!
Find the girl, claim the treasure!"
"It's a very famous rhyme, kid! You're very ignorant, hah!"
Matt: "Cursed machines? What curse? I just wanted to buy a chip! This machine was newly installed at work! I just wanted to try it, that’s all!"
"It’s all that strange-hat man’s fault! He gave me a bunch of tokens and told me to try the machine. Now I’m stuck here!"
Surprised by this response, Hayrayor studied Matt for a long time. For a moment, his cheerful demeanor disappeared, replaced by a serious look, as if he was piecing things together.
Then, smiling again: "Look, kid! Once you use this machine, it binds itself to you. No one else can use it, and you can't get rid of it until you complete its mission!"
"Mission! Yes, I have a mission! This is actually a dungeon, and if I defeat the dungeon boss, I can escape! I mean, while inside the robot ship, another hidden mission was activated, but I don’t have to complete that one, right? Do I?"
"Guurrr!" Matt’s stomach growled loudly. "Ah, I'm so hungry!"
Feeling sorry for Matt, who clearly didn't yet grasp the gravity of his situation, the Brave Hero said, "We solve problems one by one, kid! My job is to provide adventurers with wonderful products they need!"
"That’s why this token in my hand is exactly what you need! And it’s not an ordinary token either!"
"I guarantee a rare weapon will come out of the chip! Only 1000 Tears! Dirt cheap! Really, you couldn't even buy a single drop of crystal essence water for that price!"
Matt, not wanting to approach the vending machine: "Don’t you have any weapons or food I can buy directly with money?"
Hayrayor: "The tastiest things here come from the most dangerous creatures, kid! If you want to use my services, for 20,000 Tears, I can hunt a monster and bring you its parts."
"You can make delicious meals and potions from the parts! If you want to buy a weapon, come, look, and choose one!"
A purchase screen appeared in front of Matt.

After looking at the stylish and expensive weapons, Matt hopelessly turned to the token in Hayrayor’s hand.
Thinking he had no other choice, Matt reluctantly said, "Okay, I’ll buy the token. Since I fell into this world, I’ve been struggling to find a weapon; anything useful would be helpful!" and confirmed the purchase.
How nice it would be if an epic sword like Hayrayor’s appeared. If he had the choice, he would wish for a sword with a burning effect like lava.
At the same time, the token in Hayrayor’s hand disappeared and reappeared in Matt’s hand.
"Congratulations, kid!"
Without much concern for which chip he chose due to his hunger, Matt placed the token in the machine and pressed the button.
Choosing the Herbed Salted Cheese chip, Matt nervously opened the package. They were still on the edge of the cliff, on the giant sword. "If a portal or monster appears, I’ll throw the taso off the cliff," he thought.
He began to eat the chips eagerly and, with a sense of reluctant hope, offered the taso, saved for last, to the Brave Hero and Fersah the bird, wishing they would accidentally select it instead of him. Fersah loved anything with herbs.

After finishing the packet and carefully holding the last taso, Matt looked at Hayrayor once more. "Are you sure? Something good will come out, right?"
Hayrayor: "Absolutely, kid! I gave you a very special token. I had a mage engineer friend tweak the enchantment on the token a bit."
"I guarantee a rare weapon will come out. A previous customer found the ‘Double Horned Sword of King Boru’ in his machine! A fantastic piece!"
"And if you don’t like what you get, I might buy it from you!"
Matt: "Alright then, here goes nothing," he said, quickly revealing the taso. Indeed, a rare weapon came out of the chip.

Matt thought exactly the same: "Did I spend 1000 Tears to get a fishing rod? This isn’t a weapon!"
Hayrayor: "PUHAHAHA! You found one of the best, kid! You can fight and fish! Perfect item!" His laughter caused the giant sword embedded in the cliff to shift slightly.
The taso in Matt’s hand glowed and disappeared, replaced by a sword. Or rather, something resembling a sword. Just above the hilt was a fishing reel, and where the blade should be, a structure with black lines wrapped around a hook was attached.
Matt: "No, I don’t accept this! You said if I didn’t like it, you’d take it back and give me one of yours! How about the wolf-headed sword, give me a discount on that!"
Hayrayor: "I’ll take it back for 350 Tears, but there’s a 48-hour waiting period, you know, paperwork and all. The sword you want costs 7500 Tears, and that’s the final price! Do you have that much money, kid?"
Matt: "Of course not! I spent 1000 Tears on this rod, 250 for information, and I have 2750 Tears left. Do you offer installment plans?"
"KAHRABAR KAHRABAR KAHRABAR!"
The Brave Hero and Fersah the bird knew exactly what this distant sound meant. "We need to go, kid! Looks like
they’ve found the ship. They’ll move soon."
Indeed, shortly after, everywhere started to tremble with what felt like giant footsteps. The sword embedded in the cliff shifted a bit more.
Luckily, with Fersah the bird’s help, they left the area before the sword dislodged.
Flying over the other side of the cliff on Fersah’s back, Matt’s cries almost drowned out the footsteps of the giant ship.
"I want a refund! GUUUM!
"Give me back my money! GUUM!
"I can’t survive with this! GUUM!
"AH, WE’RE SO HIGH! I’m getting dizzy!" GUUM!
"I don’t want to die! At least give me a sharp knife!"
Hayrayor: "Hah, you’re hilarious, kid! Hold on, I’ll solve your problem now! Fersah, brother, take us to the Island of the Many Eyes. Hah!"
Flying far away from the giant footsteps, they soared over crimson lands, blue grassy highlands, and finally over a black sea.
Matt, instead of being squished next to the burly hero, had tied his "Gorgucek bed" to Fersah the bird, making the journey more comfortable.
The soft chirping of another bird, which had a very gentle tone, further relaxed Matt. Compared to Fersah’s strong and menacing call, this bird’s song was like a tender breeze caressing his face, making him notice the dreadful sight of their destination much later.
If he had looked down and seen the giant white silhouettes under the water, he might have fainted on the spot.
Seeing the desolate and barren island they were about to land on gave Matt the same fainting feeling. Moreover, it was too small to even be called an island, as it was just a piece of land you could walk around in 20 minutes.
As soon as he set foot on the island, the smell of burnt plastic hit Matt’s nose. "I think something’s burning!" he said, realizing only when the soles of his shoes started to melt from the scorching sand.
"Ah, the ground is so hot! Be careful!"
Neither the Brave Hero nor Fersah the bird seemed bothered.
Standing on one of the dry branches, Matt exclaimed, "What? Don’t your feet burn?"
"Hah! Brother Fersah is a fire-type creature; this is nothing for him! My shoes are made from KOSELE leather, so they don’t transmit heat!"
"Then why did we come here? I thought you were going to take back the sword! Let’s go somewhere safer, there’s nothing here!"
The Brave Hero, capable of saying the deadliest things with a compassionate and fatherly look, did just that. "We’ll leave, but you’re staying here, kid!"
"This place is perfect for you to learn to use your weapon! I survived in that desolate wasteland for 76 days among the Giant Dwarves! It was both a vacation and fantastic training, kid!"
"You need to get stronger to survive. This place is the safest and most suitable for you!"
Matt, looking at his eroded shoes and the dry branches he clung to, said, "This place is safe!!!"
Hayrayor continued, undeterred: "Hah! Now, you’ll use your weapon to hunt and survive here, kid. The creatures in this sea aren’t aggressive but very heavy. So, it's an excellent opportunity for strength training!"
Suddenly, black shoes appeared in Hayrayor’s hands. "Look, I’m even giving you these heat-resistant shoes as a gift, well, almost a gift, just 1750 Tears!"
Matt: "You know exactly how much money I have left! Is that why you set the price! I want a discount! 1000 Tears!"
The singing helmet intervened:
Love is not about agreement
It is loved without reason
Sometimes for a small moment
One can give a lifetime!
Bargain was impossible for Matt. His father was excellent at it, though. Matt, however, would feel embarrassed, thinking it was rude. But now he was really frustrated.
After buying the shoes with the help of the singing helmet for 1250 Tears, he couldn’t believe how heavy they were.
Hayrayor: "Hah! You have a lovely voice! These are very sturdy shoes made from the hide of the Iron-Breath Elephant! They’re heat-resistant and tear-proof! You can use them for a lifetime!"
While Matt struggled to lift the shoes off the ground, trying to walk with his feet inside them, Hayrayor had already mounted Fersah and taken off.
"We’re leaving! See you, kid! There’s a treasure on this island. Find it, and we’ll come back for you! Use your sword well! Survive! Get stronger!"
"Don’t blow the Fersah whistle until you’re ready; otherwise, even when you are ready, we won’t come, kid!"
Looking at the Brave Hero and Fersah the bird leaving in a daze, Matt found solace in only one thing. The hope of returning home and the soft, gentle song of the bird.
Matt, struggling hard, managed to walk by resting and dragging his legs. He tried to take shelter from the scorching heat in the shadow of something that looked like the scapula of a giant creature. The shoes were indeed made from the hide of the "Iron-Breath Elephant."
Matt: "Okay, I can do this! If this place is safe, it shouldn’t be a problem."
"It’s just very hot and there’s nothing to eat. Hmm, the vending machine is with me, but I have no tokens left. I guess I’ll set up camp here and use the rod, I mean, the sword to catch fish. It shouldn’t be too hard!"
"Guioh guioh huru!" "Guioh guioh huru!"
The gentle chirping of the bird now came from right above the giant scapula where Matt had taken shelter. Looking up, Matt saw a beautiful, fluffy pink bird with round eyes.
"He-hey, you are a beauty!" Matt’s dream of bird watching, which he had while browsing bird catalogs, had come true, albeit differently than he had expected.
"Hmm, I wonder what kind of bird you are? Your song sounds like a mix of a nightingale and a red sparrow."
The bird, tilting its head curiously, watched the new visitor on the island. Its wings and tail seemed to float as if lighter than air, giving it a very graceful appearance.
"He-hey, hologram, what kind of bird is this?"

"This is amazing! Ah, your song really soothes me, my dear friend. I wish I had some feed to offer you to see you up close."
As he waited for the somewhat more orange-tinted sun to set, Matt turned his bony shelter into a camp.
He hung his comfortable Gorgucek bed at an appropriate height and, by sticking the dry wood he gathered into the ground one by one, he made a sort of natural fence. Encircling his area, even with a small fence, made him feel more secure.
He tried to dig for water from the ground, but it seemed it would take some time.
"Being a healer is terrible. If I were an ice mage now, I’d walk around coolly. Why did you pick the worst class, Matt? You should have been more careful!"
"Never mind, at least I can heal myself if I get injured."
Taking off his shirt and wrapping it around his helmet, he thought it would prevent the metal helmet from heating up, and he went out for a reconnaissance.
The shoes were heavy, so he tried several times to explore quickly without them.
Each attempt resulted in his feet getting severely burned. He had to throw himself back into the shaded camp area to heal his feet from the pain.
The Ebabil Lily Bird watched Matt closely without moving.
"The shoes are too heavy, I can’t walk! I’ll wear them and explore once I’m stronger! Alright, I’ll fish without leaving the shade!"
The camp area wasn’t far from the shore, so this seemed possible.
"Now I need to find some bait!" With the support of his deep thinking ability, he widened the ground he dug for water in parallel directions, searching for bug or worm-like creatures living underground.
Using his singing helmet as a shovel, he continued to dig and eventually found both drinkable clean water and a few worms. Carefully picking one up in his hand, he said:
"Hmmm, I wonder what kind of worm you are! Blue and blue, very interesting! I hope you make a tasty bait for the fish!"
Matt, now holding the rod-sword, examined it, flipping it up and down. "Hmmm, how does this thing work!"
"He-hey hologram, show me how this rod, I mean sword, works!"
image [https://i.imgur.com/W9jUm6A.jpeg]
Matt: "Ugh, fine..." he said, approving the purchase.
image [https://i.imgur.com/QtxRgGk.jpeg]
Clenching his fists, Matt said: "Okay, not too difficult. Come on, Matt, you can do this!"
Matt had heard this line from the pretty girl he met on his first day at work, both at the bus stop and at work. While trying to remove a stack of paper stuck in the office printer, the pretty girl said, "Okay, not too difficult. Come on, Matt, you can do this!"
With her silvery hair giving
her a unique aura, Matt really liked this girl. Both fun and mature, Matt thought he had found love at first sight.
So, on his first day at work, just before his boss came and scolded him, Matt had a very happy half-hour.
Matt wondered if he would ever see her again. Pulling his rod-sword, he tried not to step out of the shade. "Here goes nothing! Rod Attack!!"
The Black Sea is very suitable for new adventurers to build strength. The heavy and non-aggressive "many-eyed cowfish" were both oily and delicious and easy to catch. Famous for their lack of reaction, these creatures would be an excellent start for Matt.
However, when you activate a mission that shouldn’t be active inside a giant tree robot ship, you might also unknowingly activate other changes.
For instance, due to the "Call of the Monster King," like many other creatures, the many-eyed cowfish had mutated into a highly lethal form.
Seven minutes after Matt’s hook hit the water, something bit.
"That’s it, yes!!"
