Chapter 10: SHOCKING Ability

Chapter 10: SHOCKING Ability

Chapter 10

Fether turned into lightning then surrounded Gheata. His sword covered with lightning moved so fast nothing but darkness was left behind where it passed through.

“Sorry, but I don’t think I’m going anywhere but through that Portal today. I’m a busy man, get an appointment sometimes.” Fether remarked.

Kei stood there, befuddled by the fact that Fether turned into lightning. ‘What the fuu? Killua?’ He tried to help Fether but couldn’t find an opportunity to jump in. “Go faster, I want my turn!” Kei shouted and encouraged Fether. “There’s no next turn. Sorry Captain.” Fether’s voice rang out but his body was still moving so fast.

“FF! Go next!” Kei shouted again. This time, Gheata couldn’t take it anymore and raged. “What do you think of me as?”

He conjured up a huge ice boulder in the sky. It fell like a meteor hitting the Earth causing huge chunks of the mountain to fly off. The ground shook and a landslide ensued. Fether caught Kei and then they ran down the mountain with the obstacles like rocks and trees covering Gheata’s line of sight.

The ice boulder then rolled down the mountain following them. Gheata was so angry he didn’t notice them running off, when he came to, he saw that they were close to the Gate. He disappeared then appeared in front of the Gate. Ice appeared around him, covering the Gate behind his back. Kei and Fether had no choice but to engage him again for the third time.

Fether was clearly exhausted, it took him all he had just to run at his full speed. His face was dripping with sweat and his breath, ragged. Kei stood properly and prepared to fight. “My turn now?” He smiled widely as if he enjoyed the situation.

Gheata smiled with him. He viewed Kei and Fether as mice trapped in his cage. “Go all out for me little rats.” Kei circulated his magic energy and stopped at the first circulation. He gathered the magic energy and then spread it out evenly in his body. He suddenly disappeared in sight and appeared behind Gheata. “You really like peek a boo, don’t you? And you always pick the back.” Kei was shocked to see an ice spear pointed at him when he went to Gheata’s back.

Kei folded his hands together and blocked it. His hands both had a deep wound making his bones visible. He jumped down and took a deep breath. ‘One circulation isn’t enough, but any more and I can’t maintain it. Fuck it, all or nothing.’ Two circulations, three circulations, Kei reached up to five circulations, his limit while concentrating fully on only circulating his magic energy.

His speed increased dramatically, he appeared besides Gheata and punched him, sending him flying into a tree, the tree broke in two but Gheata’s momentum stopped thanks to it. “I told you, the same trick won’t work o-.” Gheata was embarrassed and as a result became angrier. He flew back and stood in the air. “DAMN ANTS!! Humans are just ants in front of me, I’ll make you realize that.” The sky turned darker and suddenly the ice boulder that destroyed parts of the mountains appeared again, but this time there were several of it. “Ice meteor.” Gheata shouted with fervor.

He then raised his arms then the temperature suddenly dropped. “Humans can’t survive in cold environment, right? For you.” Gheata smiled sinisterly, his grin reaching his ears. “Frozen Calamity.”

Everything around Kei suddenly froze, from the tip of the leaves to every rock. Everything was covered in ice. Slowly even Kei and Fether were slowly being covered in ice, from the tips of their fingers to their whole body. “Let me help, this is the only thing I can help in this battle of the monsters.” Park Jin-Hye suddenly appeared wielding fire in his hand. “My ability isn’t useful right now and the only magic I know right now is this. I’m leaving my life in your hands.” He carefully melted the ice surrounding Kei. After melting the ice off Kei, he then turned his attention to Fether.

After finally being able to move, Kei cracked his neck and thanked Park Jin-Hye. “Thanks bro, I don’t know why you’re here or why you trust me but I’ll do my best.” His magic energy dispersed the moment his body froze so he repeated the process and reached five circulations.

“Why are you not using your ability?” Park Jin-Hye asked worriedly. He thought that Kei was still holding back.

Kei suddenly remembered that time his vision suddenly darkened. He tried to remember the knowledge in his head but felt like something was covering it, like a word on the tip of his tongue, he couldn’t quite remember it.

He tried to remember the feeling when he got the knowledge. ‘If I remember right, it triggered when I hit five circulations and when I tried to reach six.’ When he forced himself to reach six circulations, his muscles tore apart and blood came out of his skin.

His eyes turned completely black. ‘Fuck, it hurts.’ His vision was turning black but he forced himself to stay awake as he punched himself in the stomach. He spat out blood but that helped him focus his vision.

He suddenly disappeared, not by speed this time. He was just walking towards Gheata but nobody could see him.

“I FUCKING TOLD YOU, that won’t work again.” Gheata raged as he prepared for the attack.

Kei slowly walked until he was in front of Gheata within arm’s reach. “You’re right, I might just love playing peek a boo.” Kei’s presence completely disappeared, no trace of him can be seen. Gheata was shocked that Kei could creep in on him. He looked around him when heard the voice but still couldn’t see anyone.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Kei’s face then appeared in front of him, smiling sinisterly, as wide as the Joker’s. He punched him so hard he got lodged into the ground. Kei’s strength increased so much with the sixth circulation. Kei jumped onto Gheata and kept punching his face, moments later, the cold environment disappeared and Kei saw that Gheata fainted. Fether walked to Kei’s side and grabbed his sword, he was about to cut Gheata’s head off when an arrow shot him in the back.

The goblins on the peak of the mountain were aiming at them. They didn’t have any strength left to spare and the ice wall covering the portal was gone. Park Jin-Hye supported the both of them and ran towards the Portal while blocking all incoming arrows with his flames. But before they could leave the sub-dimension, Fether picked up a sharp wood that come from a random tree. He tossed it towards Gheata piercing his chest.

“I hope you won’t forgive my gift.” They then exited the sub-dimensions, outside were many medical personnel waiting for them. They hurriedly helped Park Jin-Hye carry Kei and Fether and placed them on a stretcher.

“Mr. Park, thanks for helping us.” A soldier showed his gratitude to Park Jin-Hye and bowed. The stars on his chest showed that he was a captain.

“Ah Captain Bong, I didn’t do much. Those two were the ones who did everything, I only helped them.” Park Jin-Hye humbled himself and didn’t dare take credit for other’s works.

“Please don’t let anyone enter this gate. We encountered a devil inside, if not for those two, I would’ve died. They fought the devil and came out alive. The devil was heavily wounded and it is unlikely for there to be more devil inside but it can’t hurt to be careful.” Park Jin-Hye warned the captain sternly.

The captain was shocked at the existence of the devil, but even that was overshadowed by the fact that two humans could fight a devil and come out alive and with the devil heavily injured. “I understand. These two will be given top priority for medical help. I cannot decide over the gate, I need to tell the higher-ups about the devil.”

After saying that, he turned around and entered a car and drove off. The ambulance that carried Kei and Fether soon drove off too.

“There’s two unique ability users, and one have multiple ability while the other gives me this unexplainable feeling that he’s hiding something more. This country can survive the new era.”

Fether woke up a day after the incident in a hospital. He opened his eyes to see Kei sleeping peacefully on another bed beside him. A nurse opened the door to check and saw him woke up.

“Oh! You are awake sir, let me call someone.” She closed the door and quickly ran off. Fether just stared at the door waiting for someone to come in.

A moment later, Park Jin-Hye entered the room and his eyes locked on to Fether. He grabbed a chair and then sat besides him.

“How are you feeling?” Park Jin-Hye asked him.

“I’m good. Thanks for what you did back there, but who are you?” Fether answered then curiously asked.

“I’m Park Jin-Hye, I’m an A-rank Hunter. I followed behind you up the mountain and I wanted to help you fight with the devil but I knew I can’t do anything. I’m sorry.” Park Jin-Hye apologized to him.

“It’s fine, I don’t think anyone can even do anything there. Even my full strength couldn’t do anything. But him…” Fether looked at Kei and pondered.

“He never told me what ability he has, but his physical strength itself is stronger than most Strength ability user.”

“Who is he really? He doesn’t have any ID on him except for his Hunters ID.” Park Jin-Hye got curious about Kei’s real identity.

“I don’t know, we met in a Sub-Dimension and after some stuff happened, we became a team and he became the leader.” Fether answered nonchalantly.

Park Jin-Hye nodded and just opened the television. He changed to the news channel and Kei and Fether’s name were there on the screen.

“These two hunters fought off a devil and survived. They saved several civilians from the sudden appearance of the Portal in Busan.” The reporter showed pictures of Kei and Fether.

The girl that Kei saved was on the news, being interviewed. “He moved so fast, faster than others. He disappeared from sight then suddenly all the monsters died.”

Park Jin-Hye turned it off then planned to get out. Fether asked him then. “How about you? You also helped us, why didn’t they say anything about you?”

“I didn’t do anything. I don’t take credits that’s not mine.” He then exited the room and closed the door.

Kei woke up after a month. His body felt so heavy and his muscles were still asleep. He opened his eyes to see himself in the hospital. It was already noon and his stomach grumbled. ‘Fuck, how long was I asleep for?’

[You sleeping princess! When I woke up, you were asleep again.] Remy’s familiar voice rang out inside Kei’s head. But before they could celebrate their reunion.

Knock Knock

Somebody knocked on the door and opened it. Fether opened the door and entered. “Oh! You’re awake? Take this, I’ll call the doctor.” He handed him a fruit basket and then quickly exited the room.

[Could you tell me what exactly happened while I was asleep?] Remy’s voice clearly exuded annoyance.

“Well, first I made a subjugation team with Fether and I beat him in a fight to become the leader. He used his abilities and I used my magic energy to beat him up.” Kei started his story and tried to tell it in a dramatic way but he didn’t know how to story tell.

[Get to the part where you fell unconscious for like a month or what.]

“So, like we fought a devil and then I forcefully circulated my energy six times and I managed to beat him then I fell asleep.”

[A devil? What was his rank? How many pair of wings?]

“Uhm, there’s only 1 pair.”

[Nothing big then, just the lowest rank of devils. If you circulate your magic energy six times, you should feel your magic circuit slowly sticking together. It’s a temporary measure but you should be able to use your ability.]

“Yeah, I remember my ability. I turned invisible, like not invisible but I completely disappeared. Like I turned into nothing.” Kei got excited and waved his hands around to explain but couldn’t find the right words.

[Do you know its name?] Remy asked Kei to which he shook his head. [Show me later, maybe I know what your ability’s name is.]

“Is the name really important? Can’t I just name it myself?” Kei asked her.

[Knowing its name could help you learn about its full potential and uses.]

“They did enter my head but I can’t seem to remember it. It feels like it is on the tip of my tongue but I just can’t learn what it is.”

[I can’t wait… Circulate it now, your body has fully recovered, you’re just a bit tired.] Remy’s impatient voice shouted from the necklace. She entered the necklace as she wanted to observe Kei from the outside.
