Till date no one has come forward with any information that may answer what our lives were like before the game began. Were we always creatures of this world? Did we have a life before the game? Was it any better? But above everything else stand the questions of self-identity. Who was I? Who truly am I? What does the game has in store for me? Will I survive?

Words.
Welcome to the Game.
Please await patiently and soon all you need to know will be answered.
Words? I keep staring at the little blue screen floating in front of me, baffled that I could make sense of it but didn’t even know what the language was. Language?
My focus is broken when I hear the soft whispers can sound of feet shuffling around me.
People. They are all around me for as far as my eyes can see. I realise we are standing in vast open grasslands and the sky is pitch black. I don’t know why but I feel as if this isn’t natural. Something inside me is telling me to look for a light source and yet there is nothing like that anywhere. What draws my attention is how different most look. Beings that dwarf us all to the literal dwarves, from winged beings to horned ones. Only then does it hit me. What about me? I touch myself, looking for any extra appendages or horns and find none. Honestly, I kind of feel disappointed. Turns out I am similar to most around me. I another light-brown skinned man in a simple pair of shirt and trousers.
While I am stuck trying to make sense of my surroundings another screen pops up, stacking on top of the previous one.

Welcome Ceremony starting in 30 sec.
And soon enough high above us in the sky, giant white portals open up at large distances and massive creatures walk out. I keep my attention on the one nearest to me and am felt mesmerized. Floating in front of me is a Goddess. I know this because I can instinctively feel no moral can make her beauty or her might. Her gaze alone leaves me feeling as I stand completely exposed and at her mercy. She has no piece of clothing on her and yet the way she carries herself speaks of authority and her mere presence leaves me wanting to kneel and give my all to her. My eyes lay fixated on her as I resist the urges and keep standing but I am aware many around me gave in to the desire to surrender.
She gazes around and starts to giggle seemingly amused by something and speaks in the voice I wouldn’t mind hearing every second of my life, “Welcome, my dear children and others! I am Qeuce, One of the Elven Divinities and it is my pleasure to welcome you all to the world we call Prithv. I am sure all of you have many questions so let me answer them all at once. They. Do. Not. Matter. All that matter is what comes ahead and how you handle it.” Her words ring around with a sound of finality, making many nervous, including me.
“Know this. Great trials wait ahead and each one of you will intentionally or unintentionally contribute to how you as whole survive them. We promise you a world of endless adventure where everyone can find what they most desire. A world filled with beauty and nightmares unmatched by those in your dreams. A world of swords, magic and machines.” Her words fill me with desire to reach out and claim the world but somewhere I am aware it is her godly powers that are clouding my senses.
“I realise not everyone holds the heart of an adventurer and we have planned plenty professions for them. After all someone needs to forge the blade that will slay the beasts and someone else would need to feed the heroes. Hehe. Now let’s end this little talk here. It won’t be fun if I teach you about everything, now will it? So good luck and keep us entertained!” With with that she waved us good bye and walked back into the portal.
I look around searching for other portals and turns out most have disappeared and others in dimming out as we speak and soon enough another pop up appeared to stack over the previous ones.
The Divinities have spoken.
So without further ado, let the game begin.
