Chapter - 8: New Skill

Adam stared at the glowing blue window floating before him, the message on it confirming the successful creation of his skill, Mark and Attack.

A sense of triumph filled his chest. He had done something remarkable—something that should have been impossible. The system had allowed such a significant modification without rejecting it outright.

Adam can't believe that he got his work done through Mighty System which will in a way control the lives of many players in the future and now Adam is controlling that system himself.

But before he could fully relish his achievement, a new notification popped up, this time in bold red text:

Warning: Skill Creation at this level is not permitted.

Adam’s brows furrowed. His moment of pride vanished, replaced by growing unease. Not permitted? Then why did it go through?

Before he could ponder further, another window appeared:

Error: The game system has no record of an Administrative Class. This warning is being bypassed.

Adam’s lips parted slightly in shock. His heart pounded. The game had no record of his class? That could only mean one thing—his class was something entirely outside the system’s established rules.

More notifications followed in rapid succession, overwhelming him with information:

Congratulations! Your skill, Mark and Attack, has been successfully created.

Then came another:

An abnormal class has been detected. Adjustments are being made to the game system.

Adam’s grip on reality seemed to waver. Adjustments? The game was actually changing because of his existence?

And then:

Patch 201 is being released to address game system changes.

His gaze darted across the notifications, his thoughts racing. A patch was being implemented? That meant his actions had fundamentally altered the game.

Finally, the most concerning message of all appeared:

The Administrative Class has been registered into the game system. Certain bypass abilities have been restricted.

A deep frown settled on Adam’s face. This wasn’t just a minor change—the entire system had been updated to recognize his class. And worse, it had placed restrictions on his abilities.

His fingers clenched into fists. “So, they’re rebalancing the system… but why now? Did my class trigger all this?”

Taking a deep breath, Adam steadied himself. “It doesn’t matter,” he muttered, regaining his composure. “I got what I needed.”

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Even if the system had adjusted, he had already secured a major advantage. The Mark and Attack skill was now his, and as long as he played smart, he could still make use of his Administrative Class.

His gaze flickered back to the hovering messages. Another blue window appeared in front of him:

Reality Manipulation has been fully utilized. This skill is now on cooldown.

Below the message, a countdown timer ticked away:

23 hours, 59 minutes, and 40 seconds remaining.

Adam let out a slow sigh. “So, I won’t be able to use it again until tomorrow.”

With a flick of his wrist, he dismissed the notification. No point worrying about it now.

Instead, he called up his status window for a final check.

At the bottom of the window, a special note caught his eye:

When AlphaBoss meets the experience requirements for a level upgrade, system consent will be required to proceed.

A smirk crossed Adam’s lips. They’re trying to control me, but it’s too late. He had already created a skill beyond normal limits. The system might restrict some aspects of his power, but he still had the greatest advantage—knowledge.

Quietly, he murmured, “My plan worked perfectly. Now, nothing can stop me from achieving my goal.”

Adam rose from the ground, brushing off dirt from his black outfit. The morning sun filtered through the dense canopy, casting scattered rays of light across the forest floor. The air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of damp leaves and wood.

The sound of rustling leaves filled the silence as a soft breeze moved through the trees. Adam took a deep breath, feeling the cool air energize him. It’s time to gather experience points.

With renewed determination, he ventured deeper into the forest. The terrain grew more rugged, with twisted roots and jagged rocks making the path uneven. Shadows stretched long across the ground, the towering trees forming a natural labyrinth around him.

After walking for some time, Adam froze. His ears caught a faint noise—a rhythmic slashing sound, followed by a wet squelch.

He slowed his pace, moving cautiously toward the source of the noise.

Peering from behind a thick tree trunk, he spotted a small clearing. In the center, a lone player was locked in battle with a group of slimes. The name floating above the player’s head read:

BlockHead

Adam observed him carefully. BlockHead held a simple iron sword, his posture steady as he faced three gelatinous creatures.

With a swift swing, he sliced the first slime cleanly in half. The creature burst into bright light, leaving behind nothing but fading particles.

Not hesitating, BlockHead pivoted on his heel, delivering another precise strike. His sword cut through the second slime, which quickly dissolved in a similar fashion.

Only one remained.

With a confident thrust, BlockHead lunged forward, stabbing his weapon directly into the final slime’s core. The monster shuddered for a brief second before it too disintegrated into glowing particles, leaving behind a small red crystal.

Raising his arms in triumph, BlockHead grinned. “Man, these graphics are amazing! Just 30 more slimes, and I’ll level up!”

Adam remained hidden behind the tree, his eyes sharp as he analyzed the scene.

So, this is how players grind experience?

He watched as BlockHead picked up the red crystal, inspecting it curiously before storing it in his inventory.

For a moment, Adam considered stepping out and interacting with the player. But then, he hesitated.

No. Not yet.

He wasn’t ready to reveal himself. Not until he had a full understanding of how players operated.

Instead, he continued to observe in silence, his mind rapidly forming a strategy for what came next.

If I want to level up, I need to understand the best way to farm experience. Watching others might give me the edge I need.

Hidden in the shadows, Adam’s eyes gleamed with quiet determination.

The next phase of his journey was about to begin.
