Plunging into the hole, Jack and Remy hung suspended in mid-air for a moment before landing on a soft surface. As Jack's eyes adjusted to the darkness, he realized the hole was actually a cave-like entrance. The walls and ceiling were adorned with mushrooms glowing in various colors. Jack admired the beautiful sight, while Remy shivered in fear.
"Remy, where are we? Why is it glowing like this?"
Remy responded, "I don't know. Maybe this is an old mine or an underground city. But I'm sure those mushrooms are quite dangerous and poisonous."
Despite Remy's words, Jack continued to gaze around. Remy, growing increasingly tense, continued speaking.
"Either way, we can't get out of here."
Suddenly, Jack slapped his hand over Remy's mouth, his eyes wide with surprise and fear. He pointed to the scene before them. Ahead of them, unknown wild creatures were devouring a rhino beetle that had fallen to the ground.
The creatures had long, sharp claws, red and bloodshot eyes, and pale, slightly hairy skin.
Remy, for some reason, felt a slight contraction as if he knew them. The sudden sound of breathing turned the creatures' heads towards them, but Jack managed to hide Remy and himself behind a rock just in time. When the creatures had moved away, Jack tried to calm Remy down.
"Remy, please calm down. No matter what happens, we need to get out of here as soon as possible. If you stay calm, we can get out of here. Do you understand?"
Remy nodded slightly, and Jack made sure the area was safe. Once he was sure it was safe, Jack was ready to move.
Jack took Remy by the arm and started to walk deeper into the cave. The cave was like a labyrinth, narrowing and widening in some places, branching out in others. Jack and Remy relied on the light of the mushrooms not to lose their way. However, the light of the mushrooms was also starting to fade. After a while, Jack realized they had reached the end of the cave. In front of them was a dark and deep abyss. Jack approached the edge of the abyss and looked down. But his eyes could not pierce the darkness.

"Remy, this is it. We need to find another way."
Remy came to Jack's side. But he didn't look down either. Because a sound from behind him caught his attention. The sound was similar to the footsteps of rhino beetles. But it was faster and harder. Remy called out to Jack in fear.
"Jack, there's something behind us. We have to run fast."
Before listening to Remy, Jack thought he saw something on the other side of the abyss. For a moment, he thought he saw a bridge or a tunnel on the other side of the abyss. But what he saw was a creature leaping from the other side of the abyss. The creature, upon seeing Jack and Remy, charged towards them. When the creature reached Jack and Remy, it tried to tear them apart.
Jack narrowly escaped the creature's attack. But Remy was caught in the creature's claws. The creature lifted Remy into the air and bit him. Remy screamed in pain. Jack attacked the creature to save Remy. Jack broke the creature's claw and freed Remy. Remy fell to the ground. Jack pushed the creature away and moved away from it. The creature had hit the wall behind it quite hard because it had been pushed by a human force, and since the creature was incapacitated from the impact, Jack took the opportunity to pick Remy up and run to the edge of the abyss.
"Remy, hold on. We're going to jump out of here."
Remy couldn't believe Jack's words.
"What? Are you crazy? We don't know what's down there."
Jack looked at Remy.
"There's death behind us too. We have to take our chances."
As Jack and Remy prepared to jump off the edge of the abyss, the sounds of the creatures behind them grew closer. For a moment, they thought it was all over. But just as they jumped, they heard a loud noise from under the ground. As if a volcano had erupted, a hot and pressurized air current shot them upwards. Jack and Remy screamed in surprise and fear as they flew through the air. The compressed air carried them from the hole to the surface.
Once safe again, the duo took a deep breath. The creatures' angry screams could be heard behind them.
