Following a traffic accident, a young man wakes up and realizes he has transmigrated into a novel’s notorious roadside pebble antagonist called Ackster Phileam. He also realizes he has three days to come up with a way to survive a duel with the original story’s Hero.
After much agonizing and rubbing his noggin, Ackster comes up with a solution that takes him out into the nearby forest in search of a Doppelganger Slime to take his place. Unfortunately, his room, as a trashy noble young master’s room, doesn’t have any weapons he can use, and he is forced to use nothing but his wits, his innate skill, Strong Body, and the nearby surroundings to deal with a poisonous goblin and the slime.
Eventually, with much anxiety, he succeeds in finding the slime and using it to replace him in the fight with The Hero.
He then sneaks out of the city by pretending to be a homeless person to register with the Adventurer’s Guild and get a Nominus Card, which lets him see his status and helps him grow stronger.
After a short trek through a bunch of forests and wilderness, Ackster arrives at a city in a neighboring country. The town is called Ilto, and the country is called Lill. He is there in search of a being possibly helpful in his endeavor to stop The Hero before he destroys the world after his fight with The Calamity.
