ROBOT Dungeon
Vol. 0: Ch. 2

Vol. 0: Ch. 2

< Dungeon X >

One month has passed since Edward chose his dungeon type. The number of robots increased compared to other dungeons of the same age would be only a bit larger as in his current stage his blood ruby core couldn't show his superiority compared to other dungeon's cores. Edward and Amy had a long discussion about the how should they build the dungeon. Edward, who wanted to turn the entire dungeon into a fortress were quickly scolded by Amy, who by the day after days started to understand Edward a bit and realised that if he left unchecked he is way more dangerous than the current demon king even more dangerous to her sanity in long term. Days of scolding and some serious discussions later Amy managed to protect the sanity as Edward gave up multiple of his ideas such as inter-continental rocket silos fully loaded as counter measures in case a country want to enslave him. Edward accepted to became a somewhat weird but still "normal" dungeon without nuclear weaponry. Of course even he knew that those would be only long term goals and in short terms he must lay low. He didn't say it, as it would hurt his pride, but currently he was too weak to build something as grand as mecha suits, which were one of his last secret project in his previous life. Edward in the end separated his dungeon into six 10x10x8 metre large rooms with a lineal connection and two extra hidden room, one as his core room and another one was a room which, in case he finds something which peaks his curiosity, can be used as storage room and/or test field. At least this was what Edward said, but based on the tools Amy found there, she realised this was originally meant as a torture/interrogation room. When Amy asked Edward, he didn't want to talk about the subject.

The first five room had a few basic traps and the robots were distributed based on Amy's suggestion. The last room was currently empty. Later this will become the boss room. Only... the boss is currently under development.

- We still need a boss before we open the dungeon to the surface.

- How should I make a boss? Choose a random minion and empower it?

- That also would work, but most dungeon specially design their bosses based on the theme of the dungeon or the floor. I'm not sure about these robots, I saw that you have quite knowledge about them, but can you build one as well? - Amy asked.

- Don't underestimate me! Of course I can build one! - he thought. - Say, what do you know about steel?

- While it a well known material, the way how it manufactured is lost when the Lux Empire collapsed a few centuries ago. The amount of steel in the world actually decreasing. Even dwarves can't make steel that could rival the Lux Empire's steel, and even with this they not willing to share the technique of making this "inferior" steel. If we manage to make decent quality steel into a drop item we could actually assure our safety. Those greedy people would not destroy such a valuable existence such as a dungeon that can provide good quality steel.

- That good...

-If I could get my hand on a slightest quantity of steel I could compare mine with their. - Edward thought.

- ...I build a steel golem as a boss!

- One more wire here... another piston here... and with this plating I'm finished.

It took Edward two weeks to finish their dungeon's first boss. It was a four metre large steel golem with 3.5 centimetre thick frontal and side armour and 2 centimetre thick armour plating on its back. Both of its arm was armed with a built-in steel hammer with a weight of 100 kilogram each. It had a relatively weak 10 metre radius scanner to detect sneak attack and had a frontal, 180 degree high resolution vision. It also had a secret weapon which only activated when a golem became damaged enough.

- You seriously need to tell me how do you can build these things! - Amy couldn't believe the golems specs when Edward told him the details. - The fact that this thing can be controlled from distance is serious advantage compared to most new dungeon's bosses.

- Alright, I tell you even through I'm not sure whenever it is a good idea or not. Are you sure you want to hear it?

- Of course, my curiosity already tortured me in the last few weeks.

- What do you know about another worlds?

- Not much, only that much that kings summons different heroes from another world and the summoned ones always wear the same weird black outfit and all of them talk about something like high school? And sometimes they bring some weird things with themselves. I guess the last thing they brought was called ramen?

- Japanese people and their focus on food... Well, I'm also from another world... at least my consciousness. My job on that world was "engineer". I worked for military, private corporations, whoever paid the best. Even when I worked for the military all I did was designing weapons for killing others. Not that it bothered me that much.

- Weren't you bothered by it? - Ay asked surprised.

- As I said, I didn't cared about it that much. Peace is not something you can achieve with words alone, sure killing people isn't the best option either but if you have to that, I'd rather be the one that kills rather than the one that killed. What I always did was tried to design the weapons to be as efficient as possible, faster, stronger. That way it wouldn't hurt for long when you get shoot. At least, that was what I think. You know... It was ironic, getting killed with a weapon I designed, but hey, I truly did a good job with that one, it didn't hurt more that a second.

- And these robots are what you designed? - she asked.

- I designed robots, guns, protective gears, support tools and communication devices, you know, tools of war for the military, robots, vehicles parts or the entire vehicles, tools for civilians. When I didn't work or played some video games or studied to increase my knowledge to design even better stuff. Without any exaggeration, I was one of the best in the industry...

- Compare to that life, this one must be quite boring for you, I guess.

- You joking right? My previous life was shit, sure I had enough money to life my entire remaining life in luxury without a single minutes of extra work with a nice girl in my arms and maybe with a kid or two but that kind of life wasn't for me. This life is way better, I even got a pixie, true that my previous world had nuclear weapons and laser weapons and was on their ways to develop plasma cannons for space warfare but there wasn't magic! Magic is way cooler if you ask me. And when you combine the two... I can't wait until I turn this place a fortress should some idiot threaten our life and watch their reaction when they see magic enchanted rail guns! Then when I'm introduce them napalm and flame throwers! Now that I think about it... wouldn't be making liquid nitrogen be easier with magic?

- You like weapons, don't you? - Amy smiled awkwardly as she heard new terms which she didn't even had any idea what they meant.

- You right. All those possibilities!

 - Well... Shall we open the dungeon? - Amy asked Edward. - And I already told you, you can't turn this place into a fortress!

If Edward were to have a body he would already do a dogeza to stop her.
