'Well, I tend to get pissed after getting killed.'
Her eyes challenging me,
'Well, I think you get over it when you can enjoy more time with me, hehe.'
I was still pissed of course, but a lot has happened between us. 'Just give me the rabbit'
'As you wish mister Tranquil'
I was sitting up by now and although the feeling of my upper half wasn't entirely back. I managed to sit up reasonably straight. Vel helped me move, so I could lean against a tree. She went on and skinned the rabbit "awfully". I thought it would take the whole night before she would be done torturing it.
Before I regained the feeling of my torso, I received what was left of the rabbit.
'Vel you tried, but leave your hunter's rabbits alone for now, please. The poor things have gone through enough.'
'I see you feel good enough to mock me.'
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
I looked at her while simply eating the rabbit as the feeling within my legs returned to me quickly.
'Here drink some water.' Vel gave me her waterskin.
I took a sip 'That does feel good, but don't you dare think we are even.'
'Aren't we?'
I threw her the waterskin and placed my feet firmly. After that, I tried to stand up using the tree as support. With some effort, I was able to stand.
'Good job, we can move.'
I looked at her raising one of my eyebrows.
'you think so?'
'Sure.'
She walked closer to me hanging the waterskin on her shoulder.
'Just lean on me. I can't carry you, but I can support you.
She put my arm around her so we could walk slowly, but steadily.
The scent from before was mostly gone, so I suppose it really was because I was hungry.
'Vel you do know the way right?'
'of course, I marked some trees on the way'
'But I didn't see you do that when we walked through'
'I did it before we came together, but how is your body?'
'It feels better not as good as it used to, but alright'
'I see, glad to hear you're feeling better. Still I'm sorry, for all of it.'
'Could you tell me why you did it?'
'I can't tell you everything, but you were sick. Terribly so, even though you might not have noticed a thing.'
'I didn't feel anything so how could I be sure that you're not lying.'
Her face dind't change, Tears welled up her eyes. 'you were dying and I didn't know what else I could do.'
At the sight of her like this, seeming to be truly afflicted by my previous state. I didn't want to press her anymore than that, and a small weave of understanding came to me.
'Thank you Vel'
We walked on in silence.
