"Dan, your swift is over, you can go home now" Dan took his bag and left the building he was worked at. 'Man, today is a tiring day. Finally, I can go home and play some games.

'Dan had fantasies of finishing the game he recently bought, he really wanted to know the ending of the story.'

As he walked back to his home, he stopped at a food stand.

"Hello, may I have some large size fries?"

The old stand owner scooped up a large portion of fries and put them into a hard paper container, then he spices it up with some hot delicious chili spices.

"You should save up some money kid! Don't be like me"

"I know I know, but I just want a little bit," said Dan "Take care!"

Dan ate some fries as he walked home, still fantasizing about the games he's going to play.

As Dan was minding his own business, a man ran up to him from behind. The stranger extended his hand out and held onto Dan's shoulder.

Dan looked back and was surprised.

"Michael! Long time no see! What are you doing here?"

"My man Dan, It's good to see you. I was just eating with my friends at a restaurant, saw you walking out here so I came out to say hi"

"Oh, How's life man? Is college life great?"

"Yeah, It's nice so far! I got into a cl-"

Suddenly, a purple portal appeared on top of Dan's head, before consuming his whole body.

"What the f---!" Michael was stupefied by what just happen.

Bystanders who were nearby also halted in their steps, shocked and confused by what had just occurred.

"Hey! Did you see my friend disappear?!" ask Michael

Michael was happy to see Dan, it's been a while since they meet in person. They were gaming buddies, and they had many pleasant memories fighting bosses in RPGs and going to the battlefield in FPS games.

But Michael was now depressed. He moves his hand forward, touching the air where Dan originally was. But there was nothing there. His friend is now gone.

"Hey, are you ok?" said a man

"What the hell was that?"

"Did he just disappeared?"

The bystanders murmured in the background as shock appeared on their faces. Some questioned their own sanity.

"Hey, let's check the CCTV!"

"Y-you are right, let's do that," Michael said reluctantly

They went to one of the nearby stores and told them there was an accident. Then, they went inside a room where multiple monitors around.

They checked the CCTV footages and sure enough, Dan disappeared just like how he had witnessed it.

They decided to call the police. Even the emergency responder was skeptical but sent out the request for an officer anyway due to many witnesses' testimonials.

Police arrived on-site and talked to multiple witnesses and checked the CCTV footage from multiple stores and angles, all showing the same results.

The police were stupefied and didn't know what to do. He collected all the evidence and went back to report to his superiors.

The report went up the chain of commands and soon arrived at the Chief of Police desk.

Michael POV

Michael woke up from the comforts of his bed, he had been lying there for way too long, still trying to process what happened.

He went through his usual morning routine and made a cup of coffee for himself. He took a few days off after his friend, Dan, disappeared.

He sat down on his desks and opened up YTube. He looked around and saw something that caught his attention.

'Mysterious disappearance of a 19-year old man went viral online' Michael read the title in his mind.

He clicked on it.

"Breaking news, CCTV footages from multiple angles at the site showed the mysterious disappearance of a man without a single trace left behind. Investigators and scientists are baffled by the incident and are still in the proce-"

Suddenly, a loud sound was heard in the background. Screaming was heard from the broadcasting room. The terrified reporters slowly lifted their hands up. Before the broadcast suddenly ended, Michael got a glimpse of a soldier in the background.

"What's going on?" Michael said out loud.

Michael was starting to realize that what he saw is dangerous. Maybe the government knew something about Dan's disappearance.

Suddenly, heavy loud knocks came from the door.

"THIS IS THE MILITARY, OPEN UP!"

Michael was shocked and terrified by the sudden visits of the military.

'Oh god, what's going to happen to me?'

"I'm coming! Please be gentle!"

Michael gently opened the door. Immediately, multiple soldiers barged into his house and surrounded him.

"Sir, comply and come with us"

"C-can I get a lawyer?"

"No," said the agent before a cloth was put over Michael's head.

Michael felt a sharp pain from behind his neck before he fell onto the floor, unconscious.

A sharp pain shot through Dan's head as he held his temple in pain. Opening his eyes, he saw the clouds and the orange sky as the clarity came to his senses. Dan pulled himself up and saw all around him a lush green forest and a sun rising in the background.

"Where the hell am I?"
