I was somewhat surprised that my class didn’t need any time to initialize before granting me any boons. Not about to complain, I looked at my newly available boons.
Physical enhancement: Improved mana perception
Strengthens the user’s ability to perceive mana. Physical enhancement level: 5
Physical enhancement: Improved mana control
Strengthens the user’s ability to influence mana. Physical enhancement level: 5
Codex: Mana form recall
Enhances the codex’s abilities to recall, analyze, and display mana forms for the user.
It had been a while since I had a difficult choice to make regarding my offered boons. I wanted all three of these.
While I did have my two mana sensing spells, they both had plenty of limitations. Heightening my natural senses would make learning and using magic far easier.
When weaving mana forms, there had always been a hard limit on how detailed I could make them before they would simply fall apart. With more precise control, I would be able to greatly enhance every spell I could already cast.
From the sounds of it, the mana form recall would make it easier for me to draw upon the spells I had already crafted and stored. While certainly helpful, I didn’t find it quite as useful as the other two offered boons.
The real question was which boon would be the most useful for surviving my current predicament. Glancing towards the door, I could still vaguely make out the twisted mana of the monster lurking on the other side.
I was not sure what sort of mana form I could possibly weave that would have any chance of driving away such a powerful being. With enhanced mana senses, perhaps I could find a hidden exit or some sort of weakness I could exploit in the building?
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Glancing around at the dozens, if not hundreds, of bodies around me, I dismissed such a notion as wishful thinking. If all of these people hadn’t found a way out past the titan, there was little chance I was going to be able to.
I took another glance at my interface to see if it would give me any new ideas.

It was true that I didn’t know any spell forms that would help, but that didn’t mean that my codex wouldn’t have any. The legacy codex had evidently imparted a very large amount of information into my own codex.
Trying to access said information proved far more challenging than I expected. When I had drawn from the codex before, I already knew what I had been trying to access. I didn’t have that advantage with the information from the legacy codex.
When I tried to call up any vague terms, like mana forms I hadn’t seen before, the codex wouldn’t react. Even when I was more specific, the results were hit or miss. I was able to learn that the village was once named Tanru and that the giant lizard things were called lahir, but trying to find mana forms related to invisible force or how to open the stone door proved fruitless.
If I couldn’t dig up any new mana forms, I wasn’t sure how I could possibly escape. As much as I wanted the other two boons, I needed that information.
I let out a disappointed sigh as I selected the mana form recall boon.

It was going to be a long wait.
Rather than pace around in the dark and waste energy, I glanced around for a good place to sit. The large table in the middle of the room immediately stood out as a good spot, as it was much cleaner than the bone strewn floor.
Idly, I wondered what the table had once been used for.
Identification:
Table of the Council: This large stone table was used for all official council meetings in the town hall. The carvings on the sides depict the challenges faced while founding the village of Tanru and her sister villages on the neighboring plateaus. While a group effort, most of the carvings wer-
I closed the long winded message before it could continue onward. I had almost forgotten about my identification boon. The fact that there was such worthless knowledge about a random table taking up space in my codex soured my already gloomy mood further. What would I do if the entirety of the knowledge I had gleaned from the legacy codex was this pointless?
Trying to quiet my nagging fears that I would never see the light of day again, I climbed up onto the table. The stone wasn’t overly comfortable, but it was better than the bone strewn floor. Sitting down, I lowered the light from the sigil on my hand. If I was lucky and kept the light dim, I could probably make the mana in the sigil last for a few days. I would just have to be careful not to accidentally erase the mark.
With little better to do, I activated dream study and tried to get some sleep.
