Void had decided to get as strong as possible. He wouldn't be able to do it in this starter city. Thus, he decided to get a class soon and leave Hyka.
The class system in New Life allowed players to get 1 main class and 3 sub-classes. Although, sub-classes had only 75% of the benefits of the class. This was to not restrict any player to one specific path and also encourage players to take up a crafting class. There was also the possibility of getting a hidden class through certain quests or fulfilling specific conditions.
Void was interested in using magic but had known that mages were weak in close combat. He thought it would be good to take up a close combat class, such as warrior or monk, as a sub-class to make up for it.
Void asked for directions towards the Mage Guild and was pointed towards a tall colourful building with a pointed roof in the east. It sure looked very mage like.
He went towards it and went in. There were already many other players in the guild registering to be mages. The guild looked much bigger than it did from the outside. Void thought that they were either very good at space management or that they used some sort of space altering magic. It was more likely to be the latter.
There were 3 counters in the guild, each in a main cardinal point of the guild besides the entrance. He thought that there may be a reason or purpose other than good feng shui, but he ignored it for the moment. To the left of the entrance, a spiral staircase started and wound around the room. Void could not see the end of the staircase and wondered what recided up there. It would be a while before he found out.
He went to the east counter, which had the shortest queue. There was a lot of chattering going on, many players discussing about which elements they were going to choose, since they could only choose 2 out of fire, water, wind, earth, light and darkness.
Many players were set on picking fire as an element, taking advantage of the Demon's increased affinity with fire magic. However, they were unsure of whether to pick darkness as an element, doubtful of its offensive capability. Most players chose fire and earth, seeing as they were 2 of the more offensive elements.
When it was Void's turn, he walked up to the counter and asked to be registered as a mage.
"Welcome! Would you like to be a Mage?" The lady at the counter asked with a trained smile.

"What would you like to choose as your 2 elements?" She continued.
"Fire and Darkness."
Unlike the others, Void was going to make full use of his race's advantage.
Upon hearing his choice, the lady's eyes sparkled slightly. Void felt like he was being examined like a lab experiment.
She proceeded to take something from behind the counter.
She pulled out 2 books and passed them to Void. A red one with a fire insignia and a black one with a spiral insignia.

"What the *beep*!"
Vulgarity detected!
Speech has been censored. Please refrain from using vulgarities.
The cost of Fireball and Shadow Arrow were 30mana, which meant Void could only use them 4 times. That's ridiculous!
"Open Fire Magic Skill Tree."
A single box popped up with 2 lines branching out. In the box was fireball and it branched out to 2 other fire spells. The first was a fire spell called Fire Aura. It seemed like some type of buffing spell. It would be unlocked at Basic Lv3. Next was Fire Pillar, which would probably be an attack spell. It would be unlocked at Basic Lv5.
"Open Darkness Magic Skill Tree."
A similar box popped up. Shadow Arrow branched out to Shadow Aura and Shadow Bind. They would be unlocked at Basic Lv3 and Basic Lv5.
Void then decided to dedicate whatever free time he had to raising skill proficiency. Mana cost would decrease and he could unlock more skills. The more the merrier!
Next on Void's agenda was finding a close combat class. He decided to go with Warrior, thinking that while both classes increased strength and vitality, Warriors had the added bonus of higher weapon proficiency.
He asked for directions and was sent west of town.
~
Void arrived at the Warrior's Guild. It was bustling with activity, mostly of players registering their class, but also of warriors training.
The Warrior's Guild consisted of a training field where Warriors would do most of their training, barracks for them to stay in, an armory for equipment and also a tower.
Void walked towards the armory where there was a large concentration of players, easily distinguished by their lack of armor. Void joined one of the 5 long queues.
It would be a while before it was Void's turn. It was inevitable, seeing as today was the first day and everyone was rushing to get a head start.
Half way to the front, Void started getting hungry. Thus, he pulled out a piece of bread and started eating. He was once again surprised at the game's realism.
After a long wait, it was finally Void's turn. Void walked up to a man in plate armor.
The man gave Void a scrutinizing glare.
"You want to be a warrior?"

"Ok. Go in and choose a weapon, free of charge."
He pointed to the armory behind him. Void went in and looked around. There was a large variety of weapons, though all of them were of low quality. There were many types of swords. There were daggers, spears and even clubs.
Void knew he wanted swords as they were versatile and had good reach. He skimmed through the swords section and saw one that caught his attention. It was a sword that had a longer than average hilt and a longer blade compared to the other swords. He picked it up.
[quart=Durability,Rarity]15/20,Common[/quart]
Longsword
A common sword known for its versatility and range.
Void gripped the sword with both hands and gave a test swing. It felt unstable and weak. It was obvious he knew nothing about using a sword.
Void thought that this would be a suitable weapon for him if he learned how to use it properly. Next stop is the training hall!
He went out of the armory and walked up to the man.
"I choose this."
The man spared him a brief glance, giving him a nod before returning his attention to the other players.
Void left the Warrior's Guild and checked his status.
