Chapter 1 – Meteorite Fall

Chapter 1 – Meteorite Fall

A man in his thirties with grey messy hair and a mediocre look can be seen walking along the busy roads of the city of Chephram, trying to push himself along the crowd. He was carrying a backpack while in a suit, and with thin rimmed black glasses. His face shows exhaustion as he was going home after work. Suddenly, he notices some people at the corner of his eye, looking upwards curiously.

He gazed along the skies to see a spark of light, becoming bigger and bigger, dropping close to their place. A few seconds come by, then… *Kaboom! * *rumble rumble rumble*. A lot of people were shocked from the sight as well as the small rupture of the ground that followed it. It seems like a meteorite fell from the sky.

Afterwards, the man decided to check it out first, while the other people decided to follow along to cure their curiosity. The man saw a small cluster of rocks, rising from it was smoke because of the meteorite burning due to it falling from the sky. The man caught a sniff of the smoke, and others surrounding the rock did the same and covered their noses from its smell.

Suddenly, the man started hearing strange whispering sounds. He could not distinguish the language, but somehow, he could understand the meaning of the words that he was hearing when suddenly, his vision blacked out and his body dropped to the ground. The onlookers were shocked as they moved away from the meteorite and called for an ambulance.

After hours of sleep on the hospital bed, the man’s eyelids fluttered then slowly opened. As he tried to remember what happened, a sudden strike of pain assaulted his head causing the man to groan. “What a bad luck I have today… Here I was, getting fired from my job, then fainting from the smoke which will probably cause me to pay up.” The man murmured to himself, secretly cursing his bad luck.

The nurse quickly noticed him and went to him for a check-up, asking what he was feeling. Then she notified the doctor of the results of the checkup. Another middle-aged man in a white gown entered the room to talk to the man. “Mr. Lucas, you have fainted because of the smoke that you have inhaled too much.

You should be more careful when you are in public places because the cause your fainting is low levels of oxygen and the chemicals that made up the smoke.” After speaking with the doctor and completing the necessary transactions, Lucas left the hospital bothered about another loss from his wallet.

‘This is just depressing, *sighs*. Why did I have to be the only one fainting, there are also others with me that seem to have inhaled the smoke. Forget about it.’ He thought to himself while going on the way to his apartment. He then continued his day, like what happened hours ago did not happen. Lucas Riel was a thirty something year old man trying to live every day. Before he came to from this situation, he was actually an attractive young man, who is well known and is a lot favored by his classmates.

But now, he became a miserable man, and he did not know how and when things changed to this point. Because of it, he has suffered a lot and experienced the ugliness of the world, especially to the people surrounding him. He had a girlfriend before but cheated and broke up with him with a richer man than him because he was unable to provide for her as he was having a hard time finding jobs around the city.

Meanwhile his parents stayed back in the province to live a humble life, leaving him to his own devices in the city. Sometimes he would provide them with money, paying them back for all their hardships that were caused for always taking care of him. He was a grateful man who will pay back double to those who have taken care of him dearly and would just ignore those who treated him badly.

After almost a day of wasting his time, he sat down in a chair in front of his desk, twirling a pen in his hand, while thinking on how he was going to get income from now on when suddenly, he started to hear those almost silent and inaudible whispers again.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

The sounds were starting to become louder, bit by bit. The sounds of whispering caused Lucas to fall in a daze. Soon, his eyes started glowing dark-blue then dimming to its normal color after a short while and he can feel his senses becoming sharper every second. All of this happened until he can see tiny circles across the room. Lucas became confused by the strange events that happen to him. He waved his hand with a loud whoosh, moving away those tiny circles away from him.

It seems that his hearing also sharpened along with his sight. His sight might not reach far, only with a normal distance a human can see. He focused his senses unconsciously, as if he still does not know his abnormal situation today. He then noticed that he could not do anything to move these tiny circles except for waving his hands and loosened his focus after using his ability.

“Is this for real?! I seem to have unlocked some sort of hidden power within me!”, Lucas started to breathe excitedly and tries to calm his breathing. His excitement went down quickly as he realized the situation that he cannot do anything other than look at those tiny circles and move them by waving his hands hard.

‘Other than my sense of hearing and vision sharpened, there does not seem to be anything I can use this on. Maybe I should experiment on this more since I have a lot of free time in my hands.’, he dejectedly thought then started to curiously wonder about his ability.

He used his time all night until morning and could not sleep because of him playing around with his ability and here is what he noticed. “It seems that even when I close my eyes, I can still feel everything around me with my sensing abilities with the range a normal human could see. I could also see my insides as if there was a high-definition camera inside my body. I could still see those tiny circles and feel them even though my eyes are closed. Just what are those circles anyway?”

Lucas questioned to himself as he realized a possible answer. “Could it be… atoms?” He widened his eyes at the realization and activated his ability again. He could see the tiny circles again and could see something tiny like a small thread moving with a pattern inside the tiny circle.

Lucas looked at the nearest object to him like a wall. He could see millions of these tiny circles that seem to form the material of the wall. “It is atoms!” He spoke out loud in a cheerful and excited manner as if he was a child that received a new toy present, which he could play with.

He then started to test out his thoughts and removed them to focus his senses. He imagined reaching out for something in the air, trying to manipulate the atoms through his hand with the help of his senses. His theories seemed to be correct as he could see the atoms slowly moving around his hand, like a dancing bubble.

He then tried again to focus his senses inside his body, specifically on his brain and he could see something like a tiny electrical spark, travelling around his brain.

“Ha-ha, hahahahaha!” Lucas started laughing while thinking to himself, “I’ve hit the jackpot! Maybe I could turn my ability into something a lot powerful. Creation! With this ability I can stand up at the top!”, he happily thought to himself.

He then stood up then brought a candle and a lighter on his table and lit the candle on fire. With his ability activated, he focused his senses on the dancing flames and tried to memorize the atoms’ pattern.

He then gathered a specific number of atoms around his palm, trying to form it the same as the atomic structure of the fire like he was solving a puzzle piece together. After a minute later, a small flame lit on top of his palm. He then tried to make the fire brighter, hotter and bigger.

Now the fire the size of tennis ball was lit ablaze at the top of his palm, as if it was a flamethrower generating the flames. Lucas was feeling ecstatic but to his surprise, the flame went out of control and vanished, burning his hand along the process. “Ah, shit!”

He shouted in pain as he alarmingly slapped his hand along the table, putting the fire off from his hands. After grunting from pain, he remembered his mistake to always maintain focus when trying to create something. He washed his hands then grabbed ice and wrapped it around his hand with a cloth.

He was now starting to feel sleepy as it took a toll in his mind to control the large amounts of atoms. Then with new found determination in his eyes, he will remember this day to be the start of his rise and be feared as the Heavenly King.
