In the echoing chambers of the ancient Coruscant Library, Joram found solace amidst the vast knowledge of the galaxy. The constant hum of hover droids, tasked with assisting him, barely registered in his mind. That particular morning, his attention was ensnared by a collection of once-forbidden artifacts delivered following the downfall of the Imperial regime.
Yet, a rhythmic clatter of metal on the cold floor, punctuated by the soft whirring of small wheels, began to creep into his consciousness. Joram hesitated, anticipating another interruption, and soon found himself gazing across the wide library counter at the gleaming golden silhouette of a familiar droid.
"Salutations. I am C3PO of Human-Cyborg relations," the droid began, only to halt upon recognizing the librarian.
Joram nodded in acknowledgment, "3PO. To what do I owe this visit? Deliveries for the Jedi Council, or perhaps chronicles of the past Emperor?"
The droid adjusted, "Apologies, Master Joram. This isn’t about the Council." He gestured to the silver-blue astromech beside him, which chirped a greeting.
"This is my counterpart, R2D2." C3PO introduced. Joram, intrigued, responded, "Ah, the famed R2D2. Your involvement in recent events is quite renowned."
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
"Say hello R2", 3PO said quielty as he lightly kicked the other droid. The astromech beeped animatedly, head turning to glare at C3PO.
"According to R2," C3PO translated, "he possesses data that challenges the accepted historical narrative you're documenting."
Joram, slightly irritated, replied, "The accounts are transparent, 3PO. It's not my place to alter them. Surely you and R2, witnesses to history, would agree."
R2D2 vibrated in dissent, its lights flashing.
"Master Joram," C3PO interjected, "our point precisely. We weren't present in the early days. And contrary to popular belief, I wasn't the creation of a youngling nor had I visited Tatooine prior to encountering Master Luke."
Joram sighed, "Perhaps your memory circuits have degraded over time?"
C3PO stiffened, "How preposterous!" He gestured for R2D2 to follow, "It seems our visit is futile. And here I thought you'd be intrigued by Lord Vader's holotapes."
Joram's ears perked up, "Holotapes, you say?"
C3PO paused, the slightest hint of satisfaction in his posture. "Indeed. A recent expedition to Vader's fortress yielded these." R2D2's compartment door slid open, revealing three holotapes, which Joram accepted with reverence.
"Could these be..." Joram began.
C3PO nodded, "A comprehensive account of Darth Vader, from his initial encounter with Master Kenobi to the capture of the Tantive IV.".
Joram held the tapes up, inspecting them closely. He then placed them on the counter and rummaged around below, pulling out an aged holoreader, and placing it in front of him. Without a word, he shakily inserted the first tape into the holo reader...
