6. Breeding time

6. Breeding time

“Dungeon Lord!? In a human form?!” Vaiz exclaimed in surprise.

"...Okay, Dungeon Lord, so why are you naked?" Rowd asked.

(Naked...? Uwaah! I didn't realize it. To think I- Oops!)

I took a step back, just in time to avoid Rowd's diagonal slash. Only the blade, however, not the sharp wind around it, which gave a deep cut on my chest. He quickly followed with another slash.

This time I was able to evade it perfectly with a side step as his power and aim were hampered by my . About to fall, he stabbed his sword down and made use of the momentum to do a flying round kick with his sword as axis.

I blocked it in time, but still thrown away for three meters.

"You are weak for a Dungeon Lord!" he claimed as he gave a pursuit.

Yet I was faster this time. "," I mumbled, raising one from the floor before him. Although surprised, he managed to intercept with his sword.

Pushing my opponent with the spike, I let some distances back between us before raising the second spike from his side, which he dodged. Then the third came from the second, scratching his face.

"," I said and sent him fly to a wall where another earth spike was already waiting.

"-UGhuu!!" he vomited blood as the spike pierced his guts from the back through to the front.

"ROWD!" Vaiz exclaimed and rushed.

"Ru...n... Sa..ve ..ur...self. I'm do..n... for," Rowd whispered weakly.

"," I said, sending a fireball to Vaiz who was still unable to process Rowd's command.

It vanished before reaching its target, unfortunately. Rowd was gathering wind around his sword and it was strong enough to suck in and extinguish my fireball.

"Ru..n...," he once again whispered, forcing himself to tell Vaiz even though doing so suffered him. It made him coughing blood.

*Cough* *Cough*

Seeing the resolution in Rowd's eyes, Vaiz finally turned his back and began to run. I let him as I focused on the swirling gale around Rowd's sword, I knew he could shoot it anytime.

"HAH!" "."

The tornado was released with a shout, at the same time I made a thick earth wall emerged in front of him. They clashed with a loud sound, sending dust everywhere.

After the dust mist disappeared, what was left was a pathetic scene of Rowd's corpse. It was as expected though. To receive recoil of that much power from that close, I didn't think he could survive. Not when he was already in a critical condition.

I looked around and only then realized that his tornado attack wasn't actually directed at me but at my dungeon heart on another side of the wall. In my mind, I honestly praised his perseverance for victory and kind of regretted that he was an enemy.

It was also only then I realized that the crystal on the wall, the dungeon heart, was no longer had dark-red color like when the first time I saw it. It had a rainbow-color instead, just like the albeit bigger in size.

All while I was drawing mana to recover my Dungeon Lord.

(Uh, what a severe cut. If this is my old human body, I’m sure I can’t stand until the end. To think I received such damage as the Dungeon Lord, as expected, humans are such fragile race. I was really lucky to have my magic back at the moment.

(Nevermind, I better take care the last one before he brings more troubles.)

Thus, I opened a portal with to the first room. Although it took a while until Vaiz finally showed up from the first corridor, his expression that time was priceless.

"Hello," I greeted.

Vaiz's face was completely pale with eyes almost jumping out, it seemed he even forgot to breath for a while. Out of pity, I immediately ended his misery.

"And goodbye," I said, before three earth spikes skewered him simultaneously, instantly ending the life of the man named Vaiz. Not long after, he turned into light particles like his two friends before.

Now the last invader had been removed, I moved my attention to my war spoils.

(Uwaah, that Rowd guy never cease to amaze me, doesn’t he? To think he alone is worth a 2,870 mana points, it's even higher than the mage before! On the other hand, the scout is as expected, I get 1,020 mana points from him.

(However, most of their equipments are trashes. Except the wind-attributed broadsword, it’ll give me 1,500 mana points if converted. Nice.)

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

I chose yes to convert, then replicated a set of basic clothes for my own use. I had no interest of becoming an exhibisionist after all.

It seemed I could replicate any item I had absorbed, as one of the way to produce the drops. The mana cost would be depended on the quality grade of the item. Although, I couldn’t produce one that surpassed the original item's grade and there seemed a limit of the replica numbers.

After that, I looked at the list of their belongings. Things like magical storage bag, health and mana recovery potions, regular antidotes, dried foods, water canteen, rope, light orb and many more were there. To my disappointment, however, I couldn’t find neither the poison or its antidote anywhere.

(I wonder if I somehow missed it when I absorbed Loen before. No, he only had potions, I’m sure. And if that’s the case then I should be able to find it in the drops I can make, shouldn’t I?

(Ah, may be I can make use of adventurer network to get my hand on it? If I remember correctly there should be a sizeable town just outside the forest, they should have an Adventurer Admin Office in there. In that case, it’s better to retain this human form a bit longer after all.

(But that has to wait. Sorry father, by the name it seems a slow-acting poison, I’ll bet on it. Hang in there for a while, okay? I need to make sure my dungeon can properly defend itself first, or it’ll be too risky to move around.)

I converted all the items to mana before opened the overview page.

Since I had a lot of mana, I decided it was the breeding time. I returned to the heart chamber with and had my consciousness left my Dungeon Lord and returned to the cave view.

First, I added seven new rooms, made a total of eleven rooms with the last one as the heart chamber. After I created the tenth room, I were notified that I had reached a minimum rooms required to expand to another level but dismissed the option for now.

I then checked the current nests, made necessary repairs and added the core generator into them. That way the next generations would born with a core within them. I also created additional nests and arranged them so that each room had eleven nests, one for each animal kind; seven kinds of bugs, frogs, snails, rats and bats.

Finished with the nests, I spawned the mosses and ferns to all the rooms except the heart chamber and had the animals moved to the new nests, starting with the first room. Afterwards, I put all the animals in breeding frenzy and hastened their growth.

With that, everything was set and all I could do was waiting. I expected to see some results within the next several days, when the first animal had accumulated enough mana in its core and evolved into a new race, either in natural way or by my intervention.

(Ah, if possible I want some lizards or snakes too, for the sake of my future dragons. No, no, don’t be hasty, there’ll be a time for that I’m sure. Let’s focus on what already in front of me.

(Since I don’t have anything else to do, may be I should resume my secret project. I was so close to my first prototype when that stupid father killed me and ruined everything. Uwaah, I feel pissed when I remember. Ah well, at least now I’m free from his constant nagging.)

Thus, I restarted my project. The reason why my at higher rank than the other elements was because I spent years experimenting with rock shape and thickness for the project, although I had mostly done with that part. The later part involving experiment with was what I conducted now.

Days passed and my animals grew in numbers. It was amazing to see the progress although it was rather chaotic.

Then, on the fourth day, I got myself another visitor.
