I'll just jump right into it so as to avoid any concerns. First off, this isn't an "I'm abandoning the story" announcement or anything dramatic like that. A chapter will still be up later today, and on Wednesday and Friday. I still have plans to continue with this story so no worries there.
To get to it, I've been digging for feedback and criticism both online and in person that is raising some good points on areas I could stand to improve, which is ultimately a good thing in my opinion.
This is a total learning experience for me, and while I do have hopes for the future of this story, I also recognize I'm new to this. My philosophy is it's better to tackle the shortcomings now, rather than let them become bad habits.
That will require some mild to moderate rewrites of prior chapters. In particular, I'm strongly considering a total redo of the first few chapters because those are the ones I feel are the weakest of the bunch. I can see how it may bug some people to be rewriting so early, but honestly I don't want to be putting out something when I think it could be better.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
For anyone who's been following along so far, it'll be entirely up to your discretion if you want to reread those chapters. I'd say it will be optional, as I'm not planning wholehog changes to major plot points. Most of it will be cleaning up some things to flow better, patching anything that feels like potential plot holes, making Vayne's personality more distinct, sprinkling in world building, and so on.
The rewrites will not be interferring with regular releases and I'm hoping I can finish them in a week or two, depending on work and real life obligations.
So yeah, that's about the long and short of it. Just wanted to keep anyone following along in the loop. Thanks all!
