Chapter 7

I walked several blocks away before ducking into an alley taking off my mask and the walking in a different direction home, caution was key.

I walked for about another 20 minutes before reaching my building. Obviously not being to go up and in through the front doors I strolled to the back of the block to the fire escape. The ladder had already been pulled down from when I left my room earlier.

I moved to climb up it when something hit me, I had been out for a while, what was the time. I checked my watch and it was 3:00 am, fuck I was going to be tired tomorrow I lamented as I began to climb.

*Beep Beep*

“Ughhhhhh.” I groaned, to fucking early, my entire body was sore from last night and I could barely move my arm to turn off the alarm. I checked the time, 7:54 am fuck I’m going to be late I said as I willed my body to move. My bus arrived at 8:00 and if I missed it that would mean walking to school on my already dead body, so I fought through the pain as I got dressed, brushed my teeth and packed my bag. I left the door with a piece of toast in my mouth.

I flew down the stairs as fast as my aching body would let me, I got to the bottom and checked my watch 7:58, I can make it. I ran through the doors and bolted to the bus stop, just in time to see the bus pulling away. Fuck!

I arrived at school at 8:49 m, 11 minutes before class. I walked through the school alone, I had never really had much luck at making friends and I was even worse at it when I got to high school, so I just walked through the crowded hallway to my year 12 Physics class.

“Hey did you hear what happened last night!” A scrawny looking year 9 said rushing up to his friends

“Yeah, I heard that he just walked up and without warning killed 5 Sangrientos.” Said another equally scrawny tanned boy.

“I heard that it was ten.” Said a taller looking girl she had shoulder length brown hair and was on the uglier side of being plain.

“Nah, did you idiots even watch the news?” Said a fatter looking one while holding his phone screen out to them. “Look, right there!” He pointed, “Five Bandidos Sangrientos gang members incapacitated by mystery assailant. He didn’t kill anyone dumbasses.” He said going back to his phone.

“Well whatever the case good riddance.” Said the first one.

“Yeah.” Affirmed the girl.

I walked further away from the group, too far to continue listening to their conversation. But all across the school the main point of interest was that a masked vigilante saved a girl and took out five gang members.

I walked to my physics class flushing with the attention. Even if they didn’t know it was me.
