It was a bright summer morning in the peaceful village of Hanan and the birds were chirping and twittering as usual, adding to the tranquil atmosphere of the hot summer day.
"Wake up Korin. It's morning." said Eleanor. "Wake up. I need to go check on your smaller brothers and sisters, go join Christa in the kitchen." Korin rubbed his blurry eyes awake and removed the wool blanket from his body, turning around and lifting himself off the large bed. He looked around the large bed and found that the other two blankets near him had been disturbed. After confirming that Christa and Fenrick had already been up before him he walked to the door and stood on his toes to pull the door open.
After opening the door he headed right to where the living room was. The living room was the largest room in their house which contained a fireplace, a large wool carpet and a wooden table with 8 chairs, one on each end with the other six split between the lengths of the table. Korin walked to the table and sat on his chair, noticing that Christa and Fenrick had just finished what was on their plates. Curious to know what he was going to eat he asked them.
"What are you eating Christa?" said Korin as he stared at the leftover crumbs hoping to gain some sort of clue on their finished meal. "Mother made rabbit stew for us, your plate is in the kitchen." replied Christa. Korrin pushed the chair back to get off and walked to the kitchen, grabbed his plate and returned to the table. While piling his food into his mouth he began chatting with his twin sister and younger brother.
After Korin had finished his breakfast he was about to head outside and play when he was stopped by his mother, "Korin, didn't you promise me you were going to play with Lucas today?" she said in a reprimanding tone. Korin's shoulders immediately slumped at the words of his mother and he turned around with a sigh. "But Serkata said he was going to show me his wooden sword today. Hmpf." Korin removed his cloth boots and walked down towards his room once again. Instead of entering his room however he entered the one opposing it to find a 2 year old boy playing with wooden blocks.
Korin had promised his mother that he would play with Lucas, his youngest brother as he was still too young to play outside. He grabbed a few blocks from the side and placed them on top of each other to create a wall. He then took out one of his wood carved figurines that he had recently gotten for his 7th birthday and placed it on top. Lucas stopped his pointless smashing of blocks and looked at the figurine standing on the block wall. "Who dat big bwaduw? said Lucas as he pointed at the figurine carrying a bow and arrows. "That's Lucas of the Ranger sect. Mother said that she named him after you because he was so strong and protected the people of Denis from the bad guys. She said that he could make them all go to sleep in a few seconds by shooting arrows veryyy quickly." said Korin, proudly telling the tale of Lucas of the Ranger sect. "Papa stwong wike wucas?" said Lucas in a questioning tone. Korrin replied saying that their father was just a farmer while Lucas of the Ranger sect had fought many battles.
What was once told to Korin when he was 2 was now being told by him to his younger brother. He talked about many other strong historical figures that had participated in the Dereket war over 20 years ago, knowing that Lucas loved stories. He decided to stop at a few stories however and pretend that he didn't know the rest so that he could stop bothering him.
"Pwease bwudduw, tew me stowy." said Lucas in his cutest voice. Korin turned away to resist the cuteness of his youngest brother and began thinking of a way to distract Lucas. "Hmm...Mama knows waaayyy more stories than I do, go ask her." said Lucas while bringing his arms away to emphasize how much his mother knew. Of course his brother took the bait and ran out of the room with his little legs pattering on the floorboards. Know that he had shook Lucas off he needed to find a way to sneak out without his mother noticing. He would need help.

The only two sibling of his that were old enough to help him out were Christa and Fenrick. The problem was that Christa always snitched on him so she couldn't be trusted, while Fenrick was too kind to do anything mischievous that would upset his mother. Hopefully Fenrick would listen to him. Korin walked back to the living room where he saw Fenrick running after Christa and stopped him. "What's wrong Korin?" said the confused Fenrick. "I need you on a top secret mission. Come with me." Korin pulled Fenrick into their room and sat on the bed together. "What do you want?" asked Fenrick who was dying to hear what the top secret mission was. "I need you to stay here and pretend that you hit your toe on the door so that mother comes to see what happened." Fenrick cupped his chin in thought and then asked why he needed to fake getting injured. "Because I need to go out and see Serkata's new wooden sword." whispered Korin. Fenrick's eyes lit up at Korin's words but then died out. "Is this ok? Mama said you weren't allowed to go out, and she might find out that I'm tricking her. Nuh uh, not doing it." Fenrick crossed his arms and turned his head away.
Of course he wouldn't agree. Korin needed to prepare something which would convince his brother, so after leaving the room to agonise on the idea of giving away one of his toys, he returned inside to find Fenrick still seated on the bed. "Uhh...I'll give you Lucas of the Ranger sect if you do this for me" he said as he held tears from rolling down his eyes. Despite being the least favourite figurine of his he still loved playing with it, so of course his reluctance was justified. "Really!? Thanks Korin!" Fenrick hugged his brother and then went towards the wall. After checking that Christa wasn't nearby Korin signalled Fenrick to act. Suddenly Fenrick started crying and sobbing while he called for his mother to come over. Not a few seconds had passed and his mother was already at the door, walked to where he Fenrick was and knelt beside him. Not wanting to wast the opportunity Korin immediately ran out of the room heading towards the front door. He quickly put on his cloth boots and opened the door, only to find a brown haired, hazel eyes dirty faced man standing in front of him.
"Hello Father."
"Hey son. Where to?"
"Uhh nowhere?"
"You sure? So why are you wearing your cloth boots? Go on tell me the truth."
Korin paused and began thinking of a believable story.
Ok so I can tell my father that my mother told me to go and play with one of my siblings outside. The question is who? I don't like Christa because she's mean, and Fenrick us busy pretending to be hurt, so the only option is... ahh darn it. Celia it is.
"M-mother told me to take Celia outside and play for her first time outside."
Salin frowned at the suspicious words. "So why aren't you taking everyone else with you, also don't think Celia's too young to be playing outside? She's only 3. I'm not stupid like you think I am son."
This was we unexpected. Korin's calculations had completely relied on his father being slightly dumb, but it seems that he can't finesse the system forever. He thought of a quick response.
"Christa's busy and Fenrick hurt his leg. Mother said that she's not ok with Lucas and Katlyn to leave because they were too young, so Celia was the only one. Besides were gonna play pretty close to home." Salin knelt infront of Korin and looked into his eyes. "Are you telling the truth?" Korin gulped and then nodded in confirmation. "Alright, but like you said don't go too far. Have fun."
Korin breathed a sigh of relief and then grabbed Celia and quickly left. After looking through the window to make sure that his father had entered his room he grabbed Celia and ran into the woods. He was going to meet up with Serkata to see his new wooden sword at their special hideout.
