The oddity of Human faux/psuedo-speciation

Warning: this is a work of fiction and not to be taken seriously, this is not a representation of the author's beliefs and contains potentially culturally sensitive issues.

I am Rhak'sha, high archivist of the Draknar Royal hive. At the behest of the galactic alliance, I have been tasked with understanding a unique phenomenon amongst the deathworlder species. 

Subject species: 374J-A, colloquially self named, Humans. 

Date: 1st new luna cycle of the standard cycle 2190 3rd rotation.

As a species they have only just discovered FTL a mere few decades ago and have only just started their inter galactic journey. However many member species grew concerned about an apparent insanity in the new species.

The humans used genetic engineering and cybernetics, to faux/pseudo-speciate. Normally speciation is something that happens during evolution, where the parent species and the resulting new species become so genetically different they can no longer reproduce with each other. 

But I called it faux or pseudo-speciation didn't I, and there is a reason for that. While the various subspecies that humans created vary wildly, they all are capable of breeding between each subspecies as well as the humans.

In the human year of 2025, of the human calendar, a human named Elon Musk, a pioneer of space, cyber,  and genetic technology as well as the founder of sol-4's first human colony and the pioneer of the first ubiquitous invasive bci(brain computer interface) the precursor to more advanced neural implants.  Unveiled the first of many sub species. A female of the genus Homo sapiens felidae. Colloquially known to humans as a catgirl. A 10-20 percent fusion of the human with one of the first creatures the humans assimilated the cat, an ex-competing predator.

Unlike many species, who eradicated any competitor species on their cradle world, the humans assimilated those creatures and used them for hunting partners(the wolf, ancestors of the modern dog. Cats, guardians of food stock)or livestock(cows, chickens, pigs, goats)(as they call the animals they keep and breed to eat or to harvest secretions or unfertilized eggs.) or for entertainment and companionship.

Humans grew to yearn to get closer with their adopted kin and or to gain desirable traits from them such as flight in the case of avians. and this was thanks to a myriad of stories and animated cartoons that humans watch as grublings, the vast majority coming from the country of japan especially noted as the progenitor of 10-20 percent hybrid variant. That was the likely impetus for the creation of the first. 

The new subspecies was popular, a few hundred thousand of both sex's were created of each of the "breeds" to create a stable population. The first batch being adopted, raised and sent to school like any other grubling. Unfortunately, grubling in all cultures can be cruel, so it took a lot of effort from teachers to stop the bullying, that occured.

The following year Elon created a further six species, the Dog 10-20 percent hybrid and the Fox 10-20 percent hybrid, Bunny, the Mouse, Cow and Horse. These 10-20 percent hybrids are now colloquially called kemonomimi from the japanese meaning animal ears and most animal species are represented, even ones that existed purely in myth. All are sapient beings, granted full human rights.

Also with all changes being germline and with their fertility intact, humans quickly took the consenting adults of the new species as lovers and had children with them. 

Despite the welcome and their popularity, a vocal minority, specifically the religious and bio conservative attacked and advocated violence against the new species and their human mates or any who supported them as vile deviants destroying the purity of humanity. 

A sentiment many galactic nations shared when they discovered this phenomenon and due to their own insistence on genetic purity. And if not about genetic purity, the pointlessness of augments in general. Being that most species are arrogant in the belief they are already perfect.

This would of course, cause many debates amongst the galactic academic community. Specifically philosophy and what the humans describe as the humanities.(anthropology, psychiatry, sociology and zoology.) 

Afterwards Musk published the science and data to everyone for free on the global human information database, the internet. Not to be outdone, many scientists began creating 50 percent hybrids of the previous species called anthro's. While others created fictional races such as elves, dwarfs, orcs(pig variety), dragons, naga/lamia, centaurs, sphinx's, arachne, vampires, and succubi, angel and demon kin. 

The last four really ruffled the metaphorical feathers of those religious and bio conservatives.

A jihad, and a crusade was called by various religious leaders, whom formed armies prompting the other nations to hunt them down. While they stuck to individuals who took part one religion was not only banned but the race who practiced it save a minority who complied with the ban were nearly extinct. Now before you balk at the atrocity, remember this race has committed many atrocities in the name of that religion and was constantly aggressively homicidal, not to mention dangerously backwards. It was only a matter of time before even the most tolerant humanoid on their planet would abandon them.

After a while everything was fine on the global stage, well except for the orcs, not only did they degenerate mentally they also became incredibly  hostile to anyone or creature that wasn't orc, they became cannibals as well as delicious to the other species including humanity, orcs being giant glorified pigs. 

Also unfortunately dragons, naga/lamia, arachne, sphinx's, vampires, and succubi. Gained a taste for the humanoid, while the vampire and succubi were less of a problem because they didn't need to outright kill anyone and the latter made great prostitutes. The others weren't so lucky, further production was halted on them and they were strictly monitored while they were around humans and excessive breeding was banned.

While these new species were being born, normal baseline humanity was augmenting itself; people became superhuman, a scary thought when the humans were already one the strongest galactic species, until they started their speciation projects which created superior beings. 

2030 of the human calendar, The species population was booming, sol-3 was getting overcrowded and all corners of the world were populated, sol-4 and Sol-3 satellite 1 were getting full as sol-6 satellite 6 and Sol-2 were being colonized. And the first space colonies were built, giant cylindrical space habitats.

2040

Most of the colonies have flourished, humans as they are prone to do, start fighting against each other in a third world war, also called the resource wars, as the poorer countries incapable of space travel attacked those that could, as earth's resources dwindled. This war raged for 20 years and accelerated human development, full body cybernetics, full neuro virtual reality, fusion. Humans used railguns, mass drivers that fire metallic projectiles at three times the speed of sound in the atmosphere during this conflict. The death toll was numbered at an insanely staggering 3.6 billion lives lost. No country was left untouched though the superpowers of America, Japan, UK and Russia got off better than others. China and India as the principal instigators, were nearly wiped out by kinetic orbital weapons platforms. 

It's 2060 of the human calendar and things have calmed down, the dead are buried and life goes on. The human subspecies found themselves more populous than original humans who still hadn't upgraded or converted. The death toll though horrific had several benefits, the reduction of strain on resources, they became fertilizer, and finally during the final stages of ww3 the humans learned how to harness magic, human magic is a sight to behold, whole forests grow in seconds, deserts become grasslands, mountains become flattened or dug out to house people. Land erupts from the sea.  Planets terraformed.

2085 of the human calendar

Humans are having a golden age where life and resources flood the planet, restoring it.

2090 human calendar humans escape their solar system with FTL for the first time, and colonize alpha centauri. The Galactic community freaks out. As the humans would say. They had assumed the insane humans adding new competing species would slow them down. In fact it had the opposite effect: acceleration of development, interesting new fashions, new art, new music, several new entertainment programs.

2100 human calendar

Alpha Centauri is explored as humans discover the ruins of a long dead species.

2120 human calendar 

Wirkur vulture-like people attack extrasolar civilian colonies on Alpha Centauri as abominations against the natural order. 

War were declared.

Humanity goes to war and sends all FTL capable warships, they bring their magic to bear. Which ignored their shields and tore through their light armour.

2130 human calendar 

Fully reverse engineering, captured Wirkur ship's materials, computers, FTL communication shielding and phaser beam technology as well as superior sub-light engines. It didn't take long for the tech to be improved and introduced to their ships.

2170 human calendar

Humans having taken almost all of Wirkur territory, Wirkur unconditionally surrenders, war ends with the Wirkur peace treaty would give up its autonomy, it's scientific knowledge, pay reparations and humans would help Wirkur civilian's rebuild, heal and integrate.

2180 human calendar 

All nearby systems were colonized. Alpha Centauri is restored and a monument to the tragedy that started the war with the Wirkur, is built to honour those lost. 

2185 human calendar

Humans create jump gate technology and seed it through their colonies to speed up trade and defence. Ground based variant also introduced, called a stargate in homage to an old scifi entertainment show. Travel reduced between colonies from days to hours.

This has been a brief summary of events and their consequences and introduction to our neighbors recent history. 

Continuing onwards I will be interviewing one member of each subspecies, as well as normal and super humans. Perhaps, I will also hear back from the cyborg.  It is my hope to understand the various interviewees' lives, personality and if I am understanding this note correctly one or more of these subspecies are old enough to have been there for the whole history due to long life cycle or immortality, which is surely impossible a prank by an extremely well informed individual.
